Agreed $900 is too low end for me to want to use it. Maybe for some starving college kids or high school kids on a tight allowance I suppose.
There's no games using over 4 cores atm. Why would you think 16 core would be so awesome, because its a large number? It's like these people who buy 32gb of ram because maybe 5-10 years down the road it might be relevant to gaming.
It only "matters" when the numbers are in favor of a given person's console of choice. Then the numbers carry greater weight than life or death.

Consoles (except outdated Nintendo ones) are always sold at a loss for the first few years. The object is to get a large user base and make money from software and accessory sales.

If your really that concerned over $100, I'd say just stick with current gen for another 6 months to 1 year. By that time, you'll see some good price drops in next-gen games and maybe a promo bundle for the console.

Ive been using the "distance future" for about 4-5 year now with Steam and console downloads being much more convienant, imo, than constantly playing the hokey pokey disc shuffle and turn your self about each time you want a different game.
