Electronics and video games have been shown to be recession proof. So they aren't really affected by the economy at all. People have shown they will make cuts elsewhere instead of games like going out to eat, movies, etc.
Idk I only make $50k-$65 year (depending on OT), and $100 for electronics means zero to me.
Not saying I speak for everyone, but I don't spend on a lot of other vices some might have like hunting, fishing, or drinking. If it were up to me, next gen consoles would cost about $300-500 more and be a lot faster with solid state drives. But I can understand the console market probably wouldn't support that.

I don't agree with all your up and down like/dislikes on windows platforms.
Starting with vista was a big performance gain for me and pc gamers. Required a lot of ram to use it.
Windows 7 obviously pwn'd.
Windows 8 was somewhat disappointing overall to me because of the interface, but I do like the efficiency and slight performance increases it has over windows 7 (Im kind of luke warm to it, but not full on hating mode for win 8). ...

You just "know" something you completely don't understand at all. This is what's wrong with the educate system of today folks.
Theres a certain tipping point where it doesn't matter if it's 4, 8, or 64gb ram. Currently pc games use no more than 4-6gb ram tops for 1080p. And that's with windows OS which is a resource hog.
Can't really compare apples to apples with pc to console, so it's just a rouge reference. Have to wait and see what how everything translates out.

Spend a few hundred more and get a gaming pc and then you can sing your joyous songs to all the heavens how you have the most powerful hardware of them all. You can get 5 times the output...etc, etc and what not.

If you add up the seller fees, ebay is way more expensive than amazon (and obviously free craig's list).

I don't really think its a race of all or nothing here like you present it. Sure the leading company may have had slightly more profit than the next one, but really these are billion dollar companies.

All that stuff you mentioned about unified next-gen console parts is all theoretical as to how much performance we will see. We really don't know yet.
Please do present unknown things like it's a proven fact, when it is not: "One APU, One Heatsink, Unified Memory, Less Power Cables, simpler PC components. Better for Software & Game Developer to make better Software & Game"
Vast majority of laptop gpu's will use the letter "M" at the end of the card which means it sips less power, runs cooler and is less powerful than the desktop counter part. EX: 7970M.
Maybe you already knew that, but for someone that didn't, that's how she works.
Apple has horrible performance in gaming. And you pay 2-3 times more for that honor.
What you buy with apple is people like the interface, photo editing, but it's for a large sacrifice in gaming performance and price.
