I apologize, but I find it laughable that gamers demand to be taken more seriously, that their medium should get the respect that it deserves. That gamers want to me treated like more than just a bunch of kids - yet they turn around and act this way.

You don't think you're acting like kids? A company worked (far more than 700 hours) on a game series designed to entertain you. You have been entertained (not worked) for 700 hours. That is a long time. However the ...

I must live in some sort of paradise, because I've never had any issues with any Gamestop/EB Games I've ever been to. I know what I want and the guys behind the counter don't treat me like crap - they're all around a cool bunch of guys and gals.

But you did cop an attitude with him - you probably interrupted him. So obviously he took offense to that, and you took offense to him taking offense.

A lot of people don't know if they've done something wrong, ever. If he said "are you going to let me finish" with an attitude, it kind of seems like you were cutting him off. Which is rude, and sometimes rude behaviour requires a rude response.

I have to agree with Outside_of_the_Box. A movie or a game can make you experience different emotions, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they're not fun.

All of the games used in the article can evoke some deep emotions - but to say that they're not fun would be a disservice. I wouldn't have played Heavy Rain if the game was a torturous experiment in making me feel bad. I had a fun time playing it - I don't think the author grasps the concept of ...

I don't have anything against him having that opinion of modern Japanese games, but I think he could have/should have/probably would have tread a little more carefully. There are a million different ways he could have said what he did, and he had to choose one of the most crass, insulting ways possible.

And then he gets upset that he might have offended people? Only to offend them again by calling them "the worst fucking people." Many gamers might be a little...

It's comments like this that project an attitude which make me ashamed to call myself a PC gamer.

Specs don't mean anything. People who tout Apple over Android have long said this - Apps and games make the machine, as well as the ease of use. Or if you're into that sort of thing, customization.

If Apple were to allow a bluetooth controller to be paired up with their devices, then I could see the next gen consoles taking a hit. As it stands, I can't see the market for dedicated gaming consoles dying down anytime soon.

I actually thought TP was extraordinarily easy compared to other games. And it's been a while, but I don't think that it takes six hours to ge tto the first dungeon. Really? Six hours?

Not sure, but pretty confident he's just saying that because it's shocking. No one would want to see an abortion cut-scene, but it would be highly shocking and offensive, as this appears >>to some<< to be.

I want to make it with a Hanaar. "This one will call you in the morning."

That makes a lot of sense. Bubbles for you!

How about the idea that gamers have terrible anger management? Or that all gamers are racist, sexist douchebags who are out to purposely fuck around with anyone who logs in? There are a lot of gamers out there that do - but that doesn't mean everyone does. Or that we're never satisfied with anything? There are a lot more that could be added to this list.

I suppose I should say that I'm not saying that it isn't an actual disorder - just one that seems to be abused frequently.

Apologies, but it's easy for people to say they have illnesses when there are none. Aspberger's seems to be a particularly popular ailment. A catch-all illness that people claim to have when in actuality they just have poor social skills.

*can't tell if being sarcastic...*

Making extra content, then charging more for it - people are upset because they have to pay for it if they don't get the collector's edition? Tough shit, that's the way the world works.

If you buy a car and want an automatic windows and locks, you pay extra for it - the automakers don't owe it to you because you're buying the car, even if it is available at release.

Uhmmm...this kind of thing isn't exclusive to game developers. It happens within every company, within every market at one time or another.

If you want a great example, blame Remedy/Microsoft. These guys released a game Alan Wake with no proper ending. The ending came in the form of not one, but two DLC episodes. The first one was free if you bought the game new, the second one you had to pay for. That's the kind of DLC you should hate. The Mass Effect DLC isn&#...

You'd be foolish for thinking that many companies 'wait' to make DLC for their games. That shit is made up before the release date, held back after initial sales drop off.

I believe that a lot of what makes Saints Row great is the fact that it doesn't take itself too seriously. The characters take themselves seriously while doing goofy things, but the game itself promotes kooky, over-the-top fun over gritty realism. I'm not saying that realism in video games is a bad thing, in fact it's often an amazing thing, just not when it comes at the expense of a fun. Just my opinion, you may have thought that GTA was a blast - but not everyone did.
