Lol you somehow think Battlefield 4 died with the bad launch (it didn't) and that BF1 wasn't successful (it is typically understood to be the best selling BF based early sales and estimates based on total players).

BF3 was great, but it wasn't even until BF4 that the console versions of the games weren't gimped. The PS3/360 versions of BF3 were super gimped compared to the PC version.

That moment when you say it's surprising that portable consoles do better than home consoles in Japan. Where have you been for the last forever?

Ah, so those stories of MS doing better in Japan are true then.

V was a battlefield game (putting aside the stupid firestorm nonsense) and people played Siege and MW instead (games with specialist type systems). When BF fans abandoned a class-based BF for those games, why shouldn't Dice conclude that players like those systems better?

I understand that BF2042 has finally gotten people to acknowledge that V is good and actually play it, but it's a bit late for that now.

(I know you have played V btw, I'm sp...

Although Dice reasonably concluded that fans wanted a specialist/operator-based game, given that so many people skipped BFV (a standard class-based BF game, albeit not the best of the series) and played COD:MW and Siege instead, both operator/specialist-based games.

The problem is that people didn't skip BFV because of anything about the game, they really are just babies who got sad because of a trailer and bailed on their favorite franchise because of it. Dice actuall...

@Michiel1989

Yes, major websites had a reviewer who gave scores to PS3 games. My point was that when the Walking Dead Season 1 came out, people treated it as if it was groundbreaking and it was in the Game of the Year conversation at a lot of sites. People would not have thought that if they'd played Heavy Rain.

Since you have trouble with this concept, think about music. I'm sure there's some artist you like that isn't super popular, and ...

Lol I remember when the industry had a collective freakout over the 1st Season of the Walking Dead, which beyond being a trainwreck technically, was miles behind Heavy Rain in terms of storytelling. At that point I once again had to remind myself that all the "games journalists" routinely ignored any PlayStation exclusive not made by Naughty Dog (how things have changed lol).

Lol he's like the kind of person who reads Shakespeare and ignorantly bashes it for having too many cliches.

Yeah if it isn't part of GP it might as well not exist. We don't want gaming subscriptions to end up like tv subscriptions where every major IP holder decides to start their own and we end up with a ton of mediocre services instead of a few good ones.

Cliffy B went from one of the most celebrated names in the industry to being unable to give away his games in like 10 years.

Yes, but the measure of what constitutes a good PS Plus month can't be whether Sony read your mind to assess your tastes to pick games you like and also examined your purchase history to make sure you hadn't played them already.

Like I'm not a huge Persona or racing guy, but P5 Strikers and Dirt 5 are clearly solid PS Plus offerings if viewed objectively.

Lol yet people will still find a way to say this month is "meh."

Sounds like he could be doing both.

Lol "I'll check it out on Gamepass" is the "I'll listen to that on Spotify" of games. You download it, give it a few minutes, claim you played it and that it's mediocre and overrated, and go back to Halo or Warzone.

Unfortunately though a game can't just be a game anymore. You can't just have a base game and a few map packs and then leave well enough alone and let people play the game just because it's fun. If you don't constantly add new nonsense to earn, people will whine their heads off. Dice added maps to BFV for almost two years and people on the Battlefield reddit are still moaning about how Dice dropped support for the game too quickly.

@iplay1up2

Literally the only thing I care about is online stores because everyone has access to those. It is irrelevant to levels of overall demand whether Series Ss and OLED switches are selling out at a Walmart in Arizona or even whether there are stacks of PS5 and Series Xs at a Best Buy in Nebraska. Series S is regularly in stock at MSRP at multiple online stores, so the demand isn't outstripping supply.

Well the series s is available all over the place.

It's not woke at all. The protagonist feels like a real person who happens to be black, he doesn't run around spewing talking points. Having a nonwhite protagonist doesn't automatically make a game woke.
