It's a bit of a shame that Home didn't deliver some of the cooler features promised at launch (like massive Trophy rooms and such) - but it was an interesting experiment.
I'm glad it made enough money for the dev to want to do something similar for PS4.
Neither console has a 'killer app' yet.
I jumped in on Day 1 for PS4, and recently bought an XB1. I've not been blown away by either console.
Right now, as much as I like my PS4, it is my least used gaming device - and that includes my Vita.
Looking forward to some more AAA exclusive titles.
My main changes are not so much with the game play, but with the immersion / user experience.
I'd like to see Bungie create a 'Library' in the Tower, where players could go to access their Grimoire cards (and why cards? Why not make them data fragments or data salvaged from dead Ghosts or something)
I'd really like Bungie to allow us to remap the cross direction pad on the controller - so that I could add an ammo pack or other consumable to i...
Unfortunately, you have to distinguish 'the company' from 'the individual'.
I'm sure there are far more individuals in this world working for big company's who want to do a 'great job' and blow their customers socks off with awesome product, than those who arrive at work with only dollar signs in their eyes
I'm sure there are even company's that would take a short term drop in profit if the decision made long term sense...
I assume you're referring to the April 2014 change that required VAT to be added to digital services.
The price rise on PSN+ is more than 14%
The notice period given was about 18 hours
As far as I can see (but I may be wrong) MS did not raise their sub price between April and Oct '14, and it is now lower than PSN+
Sony could have chosen, as it appears MS have done, to absorb the costs instead of passing the tax and mo...
As I pointed out in my post above, SA are now paying the same for PSN+ as the UK.
I can sympathise with the lack of features / apps etc - as a European gamer we were (and sometimes still are) second class compared to the US offerings.
At face value the huge increase sounds shocking, and the short notice period for some is shitty - but over a year you're paying slightly more than a dollar a month more than the US in comparison under the new pricing. And th...
Lets run the figures
Btw, I'm not defending / attacking Sony here, just adding a perspective, and I'm using XBL Gold as a comparison as they are similar service available in the country. Also I'm using RRP costs, not retailer discounted prices, and in no way am I factoring in cost of living or average earnings in SA vs US...
Old PSN+ price in ZAR and USD
489ZAR = $43 (RRP in US is $49.99)
New PSN+ price ZAR vs USD:
No matter how good this game is, it appears the media have already made up their mind that this is a mediocre game.
If it is mediocre when it launches... Fine, all the haters will be proved right. Congrats! But the constant judging is starting to grate. This BS article just over analyses a simple statement that could be taken in many contexts - but of course they have to make it negative.
For some reason we appear to have certain games being given free-pas...
I remember, back in the old days, when I was a lad and the only way a publisher could get news of their games out there was to use magazines.
And as the magazines only launched monthly, it meant the publishers had to complete the game (or at least review code), and get it to the magazines with enough time that it could be reviewed and meet the print deadline.
It was awesome times. It generated hype for the good games and allowed me to avoid the bad - as more...
That's unfair.
Publishers had become scared to back games that market research says won't make a boat load of money.
The market for space based flight games / sims dried up. Publishers didn't want to take the risk. And I can kinda understand that. What Publisher would give a dev 10million (let alone 50+million) to build a space based flight game - especially in the last 5-7 years where FPS and TPS games have been the money makers and the PC gam...
The game definitely lacks a bit of 'soul' at the moment. I didn't feel any personality from it.
Everything, from the graphics, game play, website, and newsletters feels a bit sterile, and there's too much that is still geared toward getting more donations rather than developing something special.
Yeah I backed Star Citizen on the strength and nostalgia of Wing Commander (although I preferred Privateer 2), and also backed Elite: Dangerous as playing Elite on BBC Micro and Spectrum were some of my best early memories of gaming.
I think we'll be lucky to see Star Citizen launch in the next 2 years.
I'm hoping this doesn't turn in to some giant Chris Roberts vanity project, and they start producing more tangible stuff - and commit to a deadline.
The Hangar and the test game play I have tried have been graphically spectacular but not blown my socks off.
It'll be interesting to see what Roberts delivers versus Frontier - which is working on a much smaller budget, but seems more focused and making better progress on Elite: Dangerous.
I've been a long time fan of Insomniac, but I don't consider their games as big 'system sellers'. They are just hugely fun and very solid (except for Fuse)
Hopefully Sunset Overdrive will show a few Xbox fans what they've been missing all these years with Ratchet and Clank and The Resistance. No other dev does ridiculously crazy and cool weapons like Insomniac.
I'll be picking it up for sure.
I've been a big defender of Destiny, and I will say I have got my money's worth from it - with no disappointment, and had a lot of fun.
However... The next two Expansions, and the amount of free-content they release between now and then, will make or break the game for me over the long term.
The Expansions are quite expensive, so I have high expectations and expect a lot of content - especially around the story. What I have seen from these leaks conce...
But it's not a sub-par experience, and nowhere did I imply that.
And your response is exactly the problem. People are taking discussion of flaws (some minor) and making out they are game breaking.
You immediately call the game sub-par, but don't actually engage in the reason people have higher than average expectations for Destiny.
The story behind Destiny is compelling and I like what I saw, but the way it was told (ham fisted cut sc...
Yeah, I couldn't see it!
Rubbish. There's more game in Destiny than many titles.
I've put in over 20 hours and still have more to do. I've barely touched PvP at all. That's great value for money even if I never buy another expansion (but I will, and have already paid for the first 2).
We always knew Bungie was going to release a LOT of extra content, but what we have is solid and complete right now.
What a crock.
Balance and adjusting to the new Meta are what high level Hearthstone, and any digital card game is all about.
For the vast majority of players this isn't even an issue.
And the format of most Hearthstone Tournaments require multiple decks from each competitor to be used. So I have no doubt there will be a lot of similar decks out there - just as we see in every tournament.
