The reason why I think Nintendo chose Wii as the Name of the Next console is because Nintendo wanted to go with a Obvious name that focuses on what they were selling, the controller. That said, Nintendo wanted to use a name that they felt we would recognized in a similar fashion which would closely resemble names like...WIFI, WIRELESS, ETC. so by going with using the Wii brand name,Though it should give us the sense that their gaming console has something to do with wireless technology. ...
In order for the Wii U to become a successful gaming console, Nintendo would have to regain our trust, and that they won't ever abandon the Wii U like they have done in the past. Though I fully believe the wii U real test of survival is when the PS4 and 720 comes out.
I doubt that the Wii U will even have a blu ray drive.
Realistically speaking , if Wii U uses any part of the blu ray technology, Nintendo would still would have to pay Sony/other patent holder for it use.
In fact, history have shown us that Nintendo absolutely despise loading times. So I guessing Nintendo will make a slight Modifications to the blu ray tech to make it there own with out infringement on Sony's patent.
Matter of fact, I believe goi...
Personally, I think its a great idea to add HD and 3D capability to the Wii U's controller simply because the high demands for new entertainment experiences is getting bigger every year. That said, I believe just about hand held device manufactured a few years from now will have 3d build in now that quad core hand held devices are entering the market. So So it would be wise of Nintendo to built there next Gen console based on our future demands.
Wii [R]evolution
The R would be in closed in a box just like how the Wii [U]
logo was set up.
The fact that Miyamoto is Working on a smaller projects To find the next big Nintendo hit is a smart move by Nintendo.
The reason why I say that is because Miyamoto has developed over a dozen of successful IP, which have generated millions in sales for Nintendo. But that, was on a smaller scale which I find to be a better investment instead of pouring millions of dollars to develop a full 3 dimensional game. That said, sprite game development wouldn't be a too risky of an...
I expect Zelda HD to be a playable game and not some Demo with added content.
The name change Of the Wii U is a good move by Nintendo because The Name "Wii U" doesn't sound like it has anything to do with core gaming.Personally, the Wii U name sounds more like a family gaming system. So I guessing Nintendo is going to rename the Wii U to something else that sounds a bit more universal which implements both causal and core gaming. Perhaps, renaming the Wii U to Revolution is a good start.
The rumor doesn't make any sense guys because Nintendo wouldn't allow it. That said,
The 1st Gen Dev has a cut off limit to prevent game developer from tapping in to the system full power.
@lodossrage
The price isn't Nintendo issue here, the issue is whether we gamer are going to label the Wii U as another Gimmick.
So I'm guessing it's the reason why Nintendo deiced to take a different approach, they can't use the controller gimmicky sale pitch alone . They have to satisfied a much border audience if they want to stay in business. And, The Wii U was specifically designed to do just that and more.
I look forward ...
Agreed, the price was the key factor to why the Wii sold so well. But that wasn't Nintnedo's primary intention at the time. They wanted gamers to see that one doesn't have to have beautiful & gorgeous on screen to enjoy a game.
so, to make that possible, Nintendo introduced their new controller which brought something new to the gaming world. well least that what we thought at the beginning, and Nintendo was highly criticized for it. That where the term Gimmi...
Sony and M$ will announced their next Gen console; and if they didn't, they would be stupid not to do so simply because Nintendo would gain too much power and derail the PS3/360 with in a few months.
See, the thing is, the rumor states that the PS3/360 is not going to be as much as powerful as the Wii U because of our economical problem we our all facing. So, lets say, if we gamers believe the rumors to be true, most of us will just purchase the wii U instead of waiting f...
The reason for the decline in video games sales is because we gamers are getting bored of playing the same
crap over and over again. Despite that, the only thing that seems to change a bit from one game to the next is the art style but not the game play.
A prime example: Nintendo's Wii gaming console. Nintendo tried to bring us something new game play wise, and it was widely accepted by most gamers because it bring something new to the gaming industry; especially ...
The Wii U controller does look uncomfortable to hold. Despite it looking big n bulky, I really hop the Wii U's LCD screen is scratch proof.
All this secrecy about the Wii U is making sick to my stomach.
So, Hopefully Nintendo would be kind enough to releases some new info at E3.
@ Lf_sIcKmAn
Wow, I m really surprised to see 4 disagrees so far.
Well I do agree with you that the Zelda HD should look a lot better than the E3 Demo. But lets be fair, when you add the play mechanic, AI, Camera view functions, etc, the GPU/CPU/MEM will in fact take a performance hit. And, of course, the same goes for the Tokyo Street Demo as well .So far, Every demo Nintendo have shown, doesn't really show the real potential of the Wii U's hardware ...
I really hope Nintendo will be sharing Wii U information throughout 2012 this time because I'm sick and tired of being teased.
I hope Zelda HD looks exactly like the DEMO when the Wii U comes out.
Pachter is wrong simply because Nintendo is not stupid; they know the core gaming market is a tough market to take on. So I don't see the point of bashing the Wii U at this point. My own feeling is that the Wii U will be a success when it hit store shelve. On another note, I personally think Nintendo strategically only revealed information about the wii U's controller pad to the public in order to keep the casual gamers attention. While the rest information about the Wii U was help ba...
Do the math GUYS..
1 GiGs of RAM + Wii U HIGH Res Textures & Graphic running in high Def doesn't leave much room for memory space.
Personally ,1 gigs of RAM isn't really doing the wii U any justice because the ps3/360 uses 512 of RAm + no high RES running in 780p.
So, if i was Nintendo I would increase the RAM to to at least 2 gigs.
