"Not a single U.S. publisher had a Wii game in the top 20 in February."
That's what happens when devs half-ass the job by just creating ports. Let's see something original. It's true that Zelda was a port, but many of these 3rd-party game series aren't appealing to as wide of an audience nor have the pedigree of the Zelda series.
"The Wii may prove to be a windfall, since games cost just $2 million to $5 million to create, a fraction of the $20 m...
The Wii version looks WAY better and costs $10 less =)
Seriously tho, both look very good and just cuz console A's version looks better than console B's doesn't necessarily mean console A is more powerful. I doubt that the developers of this game (or any game for that matter) have the exact same level of familiarization with each console's hardware. Even if they did, the dev tools are gonna be different for each. I think it's funny how some ppl are being so nitpicky about t...
I don't think having less M-rated games affects a console's appeal. If it did, the DS wouldn't be outselling the PSP by almost 2 to 1.
Well-said Odiah. Given the lower cost of developing Wii games, I'd like to see some creative but original releases from 3rd-party devs for once. It's still fairly early in the console's lifespan tho I suppose, but I've heard that standard Wii dev kits are still being finalized and that Nintendo doesn't have a lot of them to go around.
Ya I'm actually starting to lose respect for Ubisoft. I'd like to see them make more original Wii games rather than just porting over previous ones. I think I'd rather just pick up the GC version of this for my Wii. O well, in terms of Wii games, there's really only one thing on my mind right now: 3 days til Super Paper Mario.
The Virtual Boy was actually what I had in mind too =) I think the 3DO's up there too, in addition to those you've mentioned.
Ratchet & Clank... realistic? Punctuation?
This game will no doubt sell PS3s given the series' pedigree. Thumbs-up for keeping the platforming genre alive and sticking w/ the comical artistic style that so many are quick to dismiss nowadays.
Kudos to BluPrint for being the first to mention an aspect of the game far more important than graphics - gameplay. The R & C series are amazing games for their gameplay alone.
While it's not really news, it definitely is a good article. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks some of those gamestore clerks are pretentious.
I went into Gamestop last month and asked when Super Paper Mario for the Wii was comin out and the store clerk said "April 9th, have you reserved your copy yet?" I was like, "No thanks, I'll just wait." And he laughed at me as if I was an idiot for thinking that Super Paper Mario was gonna be widely availabl...
One would think so, but seeing as how demand for the "simple" machine is so high, manufacturing can't keep up. Given the fact that there have already been around 6 million Wiis sold worldwide, I actually think the supply stream is doing fairly well so far. But I do agree that Nintendo needs to start pumping out more Wiis to take advantage of the current demand situation.
You must be really young if you think the Gamecube was the biggest flop in gaming history. Not even close my friend.
Keep in mind that this news in no way indicates that Nintendo will release an HDD themselves. This is middleware, which opens up the possibility that Nintendo could deploy a Wii system update that would allow you to plug in your own HDD. I think the former is more likely than the latter however.
Which justifies Nintendo's decision to leave HD functionality out of the Wii, given their target demographic. However, many videophiles are hardcore gamers. I think Sony and MS have also done a good job of turning hardcore gamers into videophiles, which is evident not only in each company's emphasis on their respective console's graphical rendering capabilities but also in the inclusion of BluRay / HD-DVD compatibility.
Since Nintendo and Sega are buddy-buddy now, I'd also like to see the Virtua Cop series make a Wii appearance. I wish I still had my Saturn so I could play right now =(
And this folks, is a perfect example of how to get your bubble limit reduced.
Back on topic: Just to even out the playing field for my fellow gamers, the next time I save an old woman from being mugged, I'll tell the reporters that playing Spiderman 2 drove me to do it.
I would attribute his murderous behavior to his mental instability rather than cannabis (which, as far as I'm concerned, would have the opposite effect). I can imagine that someone who suffers from a mental condition will be more easily influenced by outside factors including but not limited to videogames. Games like GTA will not compel most ppl to go out and kill someone but the issue is so controversial that the press'll jump on news like this in a heartbeat.
#1 is a valid point in that a less-expensive console is more likely to sell more units. But implying that adults will buy a PS3 or 360 just because they can afford it while kids will buy a Wii is just unfounded. Of the adults I know who play videogames, more own a Wii. And do u think it's more likely for kids to buy their own consoles or have their parents buy it for them?
#2 makes no sense. How does being nextgen having anything to do w/ funfactor? It doesn't, and you kn...
Not only will I be amazed if this HDD sells well, but I will also have less respect for 360 owners as a whole. I'm sorry, but I can't help but feel that MS is walking all over its 360 customers, first w/ the widespread hardware reliability issues and now this. I still play my original Xbox and appreciate what MS did w/ that console, but I just can't bring myself to buy a 360 and feel comfortable w/ that purchase.
I understand the HDD is a pricier 2.5" drive like those fo...
While I wouldn't consider Super Monkey Ball Blitz an off-the-charts amazing game, many of the minigames simply couldn't have been done w/ a normal controller. So it's not necessarily a question of whether the controls "kicked ass", but whether a normal controller could even be used in that scenario. The control scheme also makes the game extremely fun, which is why my friends and I still get together regularly to have Monkey Ball tournaments.
Yes, Turrican is an amazing game series. I'd like to see BattleToads get resurreccted. O ya, anyone remember Burger Time on the NES? I'd like some of that action in 3 dimensions. Plus, 3D burgers just seem more delectable.
