I'm not gonna reserve it, but I'm definitely pickin this one up. Gamestop has its release date set at Oct 1st, which means 3rd & 4th quarter will see the release of some huge Wii titles: SSBB, MP3, SMG, NiGHTs, Manhunt 2... it'll be a good time to empty my coin jar =)
Ppl also tend to neglect the possibility of a Wii pricedrop next year, as well as what will happen when Wii production finally exceeds Wii demand. The result of both will have an unknown effect on the market. I think prediction articles like this leave way too many factors out of the equation.
Grannies + grandpas + aunts + uncles + dads + moms + cousins + nieces + nephews + brothers + sisters - PS3 loyalists - 360 loyalists - current Wii owners = a lot of ppl still currently wanting a Wii.
To be fair, while this GameDaily article has left it out, the original news source quotes this w/ respect to vertex shaders:
"Almost all the shader effects on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 can be reproduced on the Wii by re-implementing them with the fixed function hardware of the Wii's GPU. Most games just port the effect over. A few teams have gone as far as making a shader-to-Wii conversion tool. It reads the shader code and generates the fixed function code necessary to achieve...
lol, I simply stated the fact that the title was copied word-for-word from the source and 3 ppl disagreed w/ me? I feel like I'm dealing w/ children here.
If you were a fan of gaming in general like a true gamer, you wouldn't want crappy games to be released on ANY console.
I highly doubt it will be 84 completely different games. I think it's safe to say that some games will be released on all three consoles.
Regardless of Gears' "console allegiance", the title is copied word-for-word from the source, which happens to be a PS3 fan site.
Ya that's pretty surprising as I always associated Namco w/ Sony. Namco releasing more Wii titles than PS3 titles because they are displeased w/ PS3 sales sorta makes them look money-hungry. It's probably wise from a business standpoint, but it kinda makes them look bad to "ditch" Sony like that.
The fact that they are planning 23 PS3 games and 24 360 games leads me to believe that these will simply be cross-platform titles for the most part.
With low...
True. Maybe if he owned a Wii, he'd know about the parental settings. Then again, maybe he owns one and just chooses to ignore that functionality to further his ridiculous crusade.
Wow, this might be the game that forces me to buy a DS.
Jimmy Fallon's TRL Carson Daly impersonation on SNL was even more awesome:
Hi, I'm Carson Daly, and I'm a massive tool.
lol priceless
I thought it was already well-known that this MK won't have online because Nintendo hadn't released its online dev tools to 3rd parties until recently. I don't know if Nintendo did this because they want to reserve online capability to their in-house dev teams or because the online infrastructure hadn't been finalized yet (which I think is the more likely situation considering the fairly-recent news that Gamespy is the one to handle Wii online capabilities) but regardless, the online gaming ...
I get the feeling that this discussion will turn into one about which engine is better than the other but that really depends on who you ask. A gamer will most likely judge each engine based on the graphics and AI complexity of the games produced using that engine, whereas a developer will likely judge an engine based on how easy it is to accomplish certain tasks either programmatically or through the use of tools provided by that engine. I write software for a living (but not in the entert...
This guy is totally stretching it and will get nowhere with this. Him saying that Wendy's is supporting Manhunt 2 by releasing Wii toys is like me saying he's hypocritical for owning a TV which could be used to play Manhunt 2 on his Wii.
Hmm... I wonder if JT owns any consoles...
"All that is known about the game is that it is listed as an Action/Adventure game and you can 'Meet the Soul Calibur Characters and fight with the Wiimote.'"
I'm interested in how this style of gameplay is going to be implemented. Hopefully more details will be revealed soon, so I can decide if I'm excited about this game or not lol
Definitely agree, though I hope anyone trying to get their feet wet in the videogame industry doesn't just view the Wii as a springboard to console development. I hope this new game makes good use of what makes the Wii different from the other consoles instead of just being the first part of a game franchise whose purpose is to end up on the PS3 and 360. I can't help but feel that movie directors are going to be more focused on realistic graphics, which is why I was surprised to hear that S...
I'm leaning more toward it being a manufacturing issue because there are still many 360s that have never failed. This doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't a design flaw, but I think that many more 360s would be failing if it were.
Seriously, and doesn't it make sense that something that is newer is in higher demand?
Bubble-up PS360WII =)
