And by then, maybe more than half of American homes will actually have an HD TV to take advantage of it.
Speed doesn't necessarily correlate to overall performance. A 3 Ghz single-core CPU isn't gonna perform on the same level as a 3 Ghz dual-core CPU. There are other variables as well such as bus speed, ram timings, and GPU performance. That being said, how do you know that the Wii can't handle 2000 NPCs? That's largely dependent upon the complexity of the AI algorithms.

Regardless, I agree that innovation is fun and has gotten the videogame industry to the point that it is today. I can only imagine the kinds of games and applications that the Eyetoy would allow for so I'm eager to see what comes of that as well.
Though this VR/3D control device reminds me of the PowerGlove, I'd like to see it materialize into...
Some Xbox owners such as myself did not move on to the 360. I enjoy my modded Xbox and don't see that same enjoyment w/ the 360 at the moment. I chose to purchase a Wii because I wanted a new gaming experience, rather than just an Xbox w/ better graphics and possibly less reliability.
I am not disgruntled w/ MS over the fact that they moved on to the 360 so soon after the Xbox, but I will not be spending my hard-earned money on a console at the moment which I view to be basic...
I'd like to hear some Sony fanboys explain why the Wiimote is a gimmick but this won't be.
Gamepro must've just been in denial or something lol
If that's all true, that was one of the most enlightening articles I've seen about the Wii. Aside from the numerous editing mistakes, it was chock-full of technical info that I've been looking for on the hardware.
This whole time, I thought the Wii was basically just a GC w/ enhanced controls so I was shocked to learn that the Wii GPU can be 3-5 times more powerful than the GC's and that the system overall can dish out twice as many megapixels per second as the Xbox.

This would indicate one, some, or all of the following:
a) You haven't played the Wii at all
b) You haven't played every single Wii game to justify such a blanket statement
c) You have an unsettled view as to what defines a game's game-playing worthiness (which means you're missing out on a lot of good games)
d) Bias has rendered you narrow-minded and judgmental
I agree that the PS3 and Wii aren't sharing the same target market. It can be said that they are not competing with each other but everyone compares them simply because they are both game consoles from big players in the game industry. PS3 and 360 fans will say the Wii is kiddy and lastgen while Wii fans will point out sales figures and the fun, intuitive control interface.
If I were as hardcore of a gamer as I used to be, I too would own a Wii as well as either a PS3 or 360 ...
The DS?
I'd personally want my sales figures to be much higher than my competitors' even if mine were more volatile. I think MS would much rather be Nintendo in terms of console sales right now not only because of the massive uptake of the Wii, but also because demand is still high. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 360 was not experiencing the same level of sales and demand at this time in its lifespan as a console.
Your logic astounds me.
From what I understand, the Wii will get two Resident Evil games: RE4 and RE: Umbrella Chronicles. RE4 has already been released on GC and PS2 but the Wii version will be similar to the GC version but w/ the extra content that the PS2 version had. RE: Umbrella Chronicles is a new game. I'm not sure when either comes out.
I'm so glad they've managed to stick to the artistic style of the original NiGHTs. That game looks gorgeous so far. Hopefully the gameplay isn't changed too much.
Ya I'm eager to see how the devs incorporate the Wii controls into this one. I'll keep my eyes peeled. O ya and I think it's funny at the end of the trailer how the announcer goes, "This product is not yet rated." Is there even a possibility that it won't be rated M?
Just be sure to recheck ur parental controls =)
Thus far, this has been the most intelligent discussion I've ever read on n4g.
I'm not blown away about the graphics per se but what I am blown away by is the amount of action on screen at one time and the MUCH-improved character animation.
Keep in mind that alpha builds satisfy all software requirements and are therefore very close to completion. I would hate for those who expect the graphics to be twice as good to be disappointed if that's not the case when the game is finally released. I know that would be a severe blow to some ppls' egos on this sit...
Explain how something that brings gaming to a wider audience is threatening the industry.
