Given the question, his response should have included some sort of assurance that something is being done to prevent the reliability mishaps in the first place, IF in fact something is actually being done about it. But seeing as how he did not indicate anything to that effect, I can't help but feel that the reliability of the 360 hardware is going to remain unchanged.

I've actually been holding off buying a 360 until the failure rates improve, but Moore's comments lead me to believe that nothing's actually being done about it. Anyone know for sure if the Elite is an improvement in terms of reliability?

When the original Xbox came out, I thought it was going to have rampant hardware issues because MS is a software company first and foremost. It turned out OK, but I'm skeptical of the 360.

Please explain why you think the PS3 will drop in price soon.

I think that although Nintendo uses the same recurring characters in their games, their game series are actually fairly original in terms of game design. Mario Strikers, Mario Party, and Mario Kart are all completely different games except that they share the familiar characters that define Nintendo. Metroid for the GC is a completely different game than Metroid for the SNES.

The reason why Nintendo reuses these characters is because they are recognizable icons that sell game...

I'd agree w/ u if Metroid for the GC wasn't completely different from Metroid on the SNES, or if Mario 64 wasn't a completely different style of game from SMB for the NES, or if Zelda Wind Waker didn't take an artistic departure from the traditional Zelda series.

I agree for the most part. FPSs seem to be much more popular in the western world. Nintendo even admitted that the Metroid series is really only a success in the west, which is why Metroid Prime 3 will be released almost everywhere else before release in Japan.

Interestingly enough, I think that if Miyamoto did try to make games based on what ppl want, he wouldn't have made so many genre-defining games in his career. I think ppl tend to want something that's merely an improvement over what they already have, instead something completely different from what they already have. I'm glad someone in his position is able to think outside of the box as he does.

Yes, I totally forgot how much fun Final Fight is.

I don't think his story has to change. Even when the Wii outsells the 360, his argument about the two consoles not being competitors will still hold.

TP is an amazing game in my opinion, and I have to disagree w/ regards to the storyline. Don't let your bias against Nintendo ruin the game for you.

I think any arguments over Iwata's statement boils down to what each person's definition of what 'hardcore' is.

Good point, adults are definitely more likely to be health-conscious and if any kids are, it's probably because their parents are as well.

Though I understand that Coca Cola has a huge presence, I think Nintendo would've done well to choose a company such as Snapple. Snapple appeals to both the healthnut and the average consumer I think, and would also be a means to tap into the health market that you mentioned.

Games that only have good graphics are also more likely to garner more hype prior to release because ppl get excited over screenshots.

My point is, don't assume all those games you listed are going to be great games just because you saw some screenshots. The game could look good but have terrible gameplay, and therefore would be a terrible game. Also, not all game sequels are an improvement over their predecessor(s). Anyone can hope, but reserve judgment until you've actu...

While some of what he says is true, some of it is also unfounded or opinionated.

I don't think anyone can deny that the Wii has gotten more "broad-based acclaim" than expected, but saying that the console's controller is the only appealing aspect is entirely his personal opinion. My opinion differs. The pricetag is appealing to me. The fact that it's the only console that'll play Nintendo software is appealing to me. And the fact that it's the only means by whic...

Ya, this does seem odd. But then again, I don't think your current average Joe is a healthnut either so Nintendo UK is probably able to target a wider audience with this campaign.

I think many ppl are just tired of seeing Mario, regardless of whether he appears in games w/ completely different styles of gameplay. Mario Kart, Mario Strikers, Smash Bros, Mario Galaxy, and Paper Mario are all completely different types of games but they share similar character casts. I'm also confused when ppl have issues w/ Mario being "kiddy." Mario as an icon is meant to appeal to all ages, and so I think his image is fine how it is.

My most anticipated Wii ...

Can someone please explain to me the appeal of Mass Effect? Why is everyone on this game's nuts? Is it the combat system or chatacter customization? The "virtual conversation" engine? Am I the only one who hasn't boughten into the hype?

This is an exciting time for the chip industry. Scientists are making other breakthroughs besides this, such as chips that can morph to be more efficient at certain types of calculations as well as chips that can be repaired by a process similar to ROM flashing.
