Ya the browser's pretty nice. Now I can waste some time on wiicade.com =)
I like how Nintendo manages to keep release dates for things like this a secret. I knew the update was coming in April but didn't hear an exact date. It's nice to be pleasantly surprised every once in a while.
I used it a little bit before going to work this morning and I will admit that it's very easy to use. I knew that the initial version of the browser was going to be superceded by this version and never downloaded it, so I don't know exactly what changes and improvements were made. Maybe someone who used both could expand on the major usability enhancements from a personal standpoint?
Are you saying that the Wii shortage is intentional simply because Gamestop, who is now so pissed off that they can't make money off consumers the way they'd like to, said so? Everyone, including Nintendo, underestimated demand for the Wii. It's that simple.
No one here knows any insider info about Nintendo's production capability so no one can say for sure. But Gamestop has been known to conduct some shady business practices to nickel and dime consumers so I would not tak...
"Foxconn is one of the largest manufacturers of electronics and computer components worldwide...Foxconn produces the Mac mini and the iPod for Apple Computer; Intel-branded motherboards for Intel Corp.; various orders for American computer retailers Dell, Inc. and Hewlett Packard; the Xbox 360 for Microsoft; and cell phones for Motorola."

The sooner devs can learn to efficiently program multiple threads, the sooner the potential of the PS3 will be realized to the level that Sony marketing has led everyone to believe the machine is capable of.
Having spent some open-minded time w/ Wii boxing, I will say that there's a certain way u have to punch in order for the different punches to register. I too was somewhat disappointed to learn that the boxer's punches don't mirror mine exactly, but I can now throw the punches I want consistently and the game is still very fun (and challenging).
I understand your concern about making special moves too easy but on the flipside, I feel that Street Fighter II is much more non-hard...
I'm amazed that the Wii outselling the PS3 is still news. The Wii is far less expensive and appeals to a much wider audience (and I can't help but think that those who imply that the Wii is just for kids are either in denial or are teen males going through the testosterone spike associated w/ puberty so they feel like they're "too good" to play games that have an E rating, regardless of how good the game is or not).
The fact is, how many units a console sells doesn't...
If you've been gaming for any considerable amount of time, you'd know the GameCube wasn't the biggest flop in gaming history. Good effort on trying to sound unbiased tho.
Actually, I think Nintendo gets attacked most of the time. I agree with all the other points u made tho =)
I'm not a huge PS3 fan by any means, but you're living in a dreamworld if you truly believe that.
And do you really think banks use Windows across the entire company? Newsflash: Windows isn't the most reliable OS out there.
Note to self: The next time a cash prize is awarded for most popular "news" article on n4g for any given month, find a segment written by someone who isn't even involved in the videogame industry that compares consoles and that's sure to attract all the fanboys on this site, and submit it for approval under the guise of being newsworthy.
This isn't even news, and Paul Thurrott's opinion about videogame consoles isn't any more important than anyone else's opinion on t...
How do u even have 3 speech bubbles?
I purposefully did not approve this story because IT ISN'T NEWS. Does anyone know who Paul Thurrott is? He runs a website geared towards the Windows operating system and is not involved with the videogame industry. I would take system reviews of many n4g regulars over this guy's opinion. Seriously, I think we've got some issues with quality control on this site.
I admire Nintendo for its continual innovation in the videogame industry and for pretty much defining that industry years ago, but it looks like Nintendo had to learn the hard way that times change. Nintendo got away w/ monopoly-like business practices back in the day because it didn't really have the competition that it does these days, not to mention the fact that the videogame industry is far larger now than it was back then.
I assume that today, Nintendo now incentivizes...
Yes, competition promotes innovation and pricewars which, in the end, benefit consumers. I myself have stayed w/ AMD for the past 5 yrs but I will admit that the Core 2 Duo is a great processor family. I'm excited to see what AMD has in store but I've NEVER been a fan of ATI. Every ATI card I've interacted w/ had problems and the drivers are unnecessarily difficult to uninstall.
$300 per copy of that game MIGHT cover the development cost. In other words, realistically that game would be very difficult to develop.
The article states that he's supposedly working on a new MMO that'll be the "first of its kind." Hopefully we'll see that pan out soon.
A huge advantage that developers have in creating games for consoles rather than PCs is that they know exactly what hardware the end-user will have. I don't think it's feasible for a developer to spend time trying to squeeze every last bit of performance out of two 8800 GTXs if hardly anyone will actually have that setup.
And despite the PS3's hefty pricetag, consoles are still not costing anywhere near as much as it costs to build a high-end PC, both in terms of time and mone...
It's well-known that EA works its developers into the ground w/ long hours and crazy deadlines. I myself would be pissed as an EA dev if upper-management misallocated serious resources to PS3 and 360 development and then all of a sudden wanted me to work long hours to pump out a game for the Wii as soon as possible because they JUST realized that they underestimated the size of the Wii's userbase. Rushed development = mediocre product, and consumers lose in the end.
Well-said dantesparda, I think fanboyism is generally a teen phenomena. I do know a few adult fanboys, but these adults generally act pretty immature for their age. Just my personal experience.
