Well... they certainly chose the right place to unveil it. Especially if they're looking to explain this thing tech wise. Good move on MS part. This would be the best way to help clear up the difference between the Scorpio and Pro. This makes me think tho that this is definitely for the hardcore gamers. This is MS trying to win back the hardcore.
I agree with you, there is an enthusiast market and it is growing. Also like you, I can't see it taking over when there is a cheaper alternative, especially when that cheaper version plays the same games. Just look at the damn Pro, what are sales like of that thing? My guess is no where near what the vanilla PS4 is selling... and the Playstation is super popular right now! Not until the Pro or Scorpio reach a price that is closer to the vanilla versions.
@IAMLoki In fact... the Pro & Scorpio versions will be comparable, but there will be a difference. The Scorpio version will be better, that's for sure. Unless you've been living under a rock, sites have been doing X1 vs Pro vs PC comparisons since the Pro was released. If you're pointing specifically to multiplat games, which it seems like you are, all you have to do is take a look at the differences between the Pro & PC versions. The Scorpio version will fall in between t...
Insane... would be very appropriate for #2, if it were to happen. Right out the gate they would go back on something they said previously, No gamer left behind. MS are not stupid, they know they can't have another PR situation right from the start a la Xbox One. #4 is not insane at all. The only thing "insane" about that prediction is that writer inserted "insane" to the prediciton. #5 is the only thing there that i would consider "insane", MS has already pos...
@TheCommentator hahaha... man you must think all Sony/PS4 gamers are 🐴. That would be like if I thought all you Xbox gamers were all 🍆... Which I don't, they're out there but it's a minority. Like you said "side by side" comparisons were NEEDED to even see the differences... if you need to resort to that, then there isn't that much of a difference. If "fanboy" talk gets to you that much, maybe you should stay away from these kinds of forums/...
@ShadowKnight I honestly don't get where this is coming from either. The power gap between the Pro and Scorpio, 4.2TF vs 6TF... the 1.8TF difference will give you games that looking slightly better than they do on the Pro, but it won't look better than they do on PC. But if you're a fanboy and you're just looking for any kind of slight advantage. I guess any type of ammunition for their "war" will do.
Also, lets not forget that every Scorpio game,...
3, 2, 1...
I always get excited when I see Catherine... but then instantly come back down when I realize it's STILL only for the PS3.
I mean... it's at 6TF console, that's to be expected. The game will have great titles, that's to be expected... the Xbox One has great titles now. The only thing I'm wondering is... what's up with all the GameStop articles recently, I thought GameStop was a hated and untrustworthy company?
and I'm in... that's pretty nice.
I had no idea that they made leather ones, that would be one that I would rock. I can see your point about the Millions of people who have 3ds/2ds/Vitas/PSP not looking at them as toys... but just cause they bought it doesn't mean they don't consider them toys, right? My cousin buys 3ds & 2ds for this 2 daughters, calls them toys.
But that's not the point, I'm not talking about those 10's of millions of people who carry around a dedicated gaming dev...
The power of the device is not what pulls the mobile gamers, it's the convenience. "Mobile gamers" don't look at themselves as "gamers" they have a device that just so happens to have the ability to play games as well. They like that it's an all-in-one, the difficult thing it to convince them to want to carry another device with them that is only a dedicated games machine.
I honestly think most mobile gamers look at a dedicated games machine...
Yup, looks really good, but it's a GIF. I'm sure it's gonna look good, but to judge how a game is going to look based on a GIF is kinda crazy. GIF are low resolution files and are usually not very large. I'll wait to see high-resolution sreenshots or direct feed video.
I mean.. it's possible. I feel like they just make these claims to make headlines and aren't actually meant to be predictions. That why he, and others, use words like "potentially" "possible" "could" "foresee" those words don't hold you to anything, it's noncommittal. Not a big deal, I don't know why this is even a thing to write an article about but some people are fascinated by these things.
... if they even plan to release another handheld. Like someone said above, a smartphone that acts as a console would be FANTASTIC! I honestly thought that was main point of Sony buying up Gaikai, to eventually get their playable on mobile or even using the smartphone as a pass through to a monitor. With Sony announcing that PS4 titles will be available through PSnow is a little more attractive, but still not announcement about being to play on a mobile device.
Whaaaat? coming to Mac as well?!?! that's news to be brother, good news! If they allow you to STREAM games, you already own, to a Mac or PC... that'll allow me to pick up my game at the office!!!
Damn... that's so tempting! I can't believe how well that game is holding it's value! If I pick up a PStv and P4 digitally... basically the price of a $60 game O_O
Edit: I have an extra PS4 controller, if I can hook the PStv up to my workstation monitor... I can play it at my desk!
@Corpser eventually... for this thing to work or be successful I think it'll have to bring in current titles or what's the point?
This... This is the game I've been waiting for! I played Persona 3, never got the chance to play Persona 4. Waiting for a long time for P4 to make it onto the PSN, but it never happened. I even considered buying a PStv thing just for this game but never pulled the trigger. I'm hoping this make is as good as it's looking.
@hulk_bash1987 We'll definitely get specs, price and release date tho... that's gonna come at a later time. Let's not forget that DigitalFoundry is a tech site, a lot of it's audience are the hardcore guys. It's very important to let the hardcore know the price and release date... but you've also gotta let the regular joe gamer know. I'm guessing that price and release are @E3. This reveal will, I think, be the Scorpio running current games... show us that it can r...
