Makes sense, the 2nd screen offered something unique. Although I won't be getting one at launch I do love the idea of the Switch. I'm not home much, so gaming on the go is a very attractive thing for me and I think a lot of gamers. That's why i'm always looking around for a way to play my PS4 games away from home. Depending on 3rd party support, I may be coming a Nintendo guy again... maybe.
Valid point!
... was this ever a concern? I fee like touch screens are such a normal, everyday thing now. The touch screen being "accurate and responsive" was never even a concern that crept into my head. But i guess some people really need this feature showcased...
I'd always take the good one, I want to WIN!
Nah... with all the bad press and stuff they got for cancelling Scale Bound, they had to change the subject around Xbox. It's smart PR. You can't let that kind of "bad" stick around. It's a smart move, gets peoples imaginations running "Omg... I wonder how it looks. Prob's looks Amazing" "Whoa... way a head of schedule" "Great news, this far off and already have a playable build"... it's common PR tactic, everyone does, it works!
I have no problem paying for online play, would rather not but i understand... the crazy thing about this new online service is that the sub allows you to do chat, but where? Chat on the mobile device that comes with the sub. If the wording and the chart is correct, it looks like you can only chat with others with you have a sub, without it is just a temporary demo, and only through their app... not on the console itself.
Same boat for me, minus the daughter. My backlog is: FF15, WatchDogs 2, Darkest Dungeon, Dishnonored 2... to name a few, all about 20 hrs or more! So I won't be buying anything anytime soon!
What a wild ride this titles been on: Getting turned away by Xbox for exclusivity, becoming a PS exclusive, disappearing for a whole year, no longer being published by Sony, disappearing again... to now a multiplat game. Dev team has been through a lot, hope it works out for them.
I've heard crazy numbers, when it comes to backlog, of games that ppl buy on Steam that they will never play. I'm a bit frugal, at times, so my view on Steam sales... well, sales in general is: If you never plan to use it then it doesn't matter if it was 80% off, you spent money.
Am I just cheap? lol. It's like women with shoes or bags, I've known some friends to buy bag/shoes that they will probably never use but just "had" to pick up because ...
I think MS will eat some cost, how much... well, we won't know till it happens. Here's the thing about MS that ppl seem to forget, MS has a lot of money, not XBox. XBox is just a small subdivision of MS. IDK if they're willing to, again, lose hundreds of millions maybe even billions on that small division. MS is willing to eat loses on Windows/Windows devices/Cloud because that is a much more profitable and bigger part of their business. How much money does a division need to lose...
This is how I'm looking at it as well, when they say 4K @60fps. It seems like this round of consoles, PS4 Pro & Scorpio, as focusing on IQ with all this 4K talk. The Last of Us is 4K60, but it looks like a ps3 game with very good IQ.
Is this how it's always been? How would you calculate how much Flops a CPU puts out? So when the specs sheet for the PS4 Pro was shown, it has 4.2 TF next to the GPU but only showed the MHz next to the CPU, does this mean that the PS4 Pro is more than 4.2 TF? Cause even for PC's they seem to only list the GPU, with the amount of TF, and just the type of CPU it is. I don't think I've ever known the final "power numbers" to be a combination of the GPU + CPU, if so I...
I was really excited... up until the part where you need to be on the same network. I want to be able to play at my workstation, during lunch of course. I think the app makers are working on it, at least I hope so. I really want to be able to game on the go!
edit: I have spoken too soon! I seems you can remote play even when on different networks YASSS!
@darthv72 & @Aenea my thought on the release date was to wait for prices of the parts to come down. I agree that the argument goes both ways, I think they will achieve 6TF at least, I personally hope it's more than 6TF. Because honestly, a new console that comes out a year later that is only 1.8TF more powerful then it's closest competitor... seems a bit conservative. I mainly want to be more than 6TF cause I think it would give a good kick in the butt to Sony, like "hey, you...
@GottaBjimmyb well.. the statement "Won't let you down..." implies that there are other networks out there that "could" let you down. That aside, I really don't see any issue with advertising this. Like you said, it's advertising... fair game. Both companies do it, get over it!
I think we might be talking about two different things here... all i'm saying is that the casuals wouldn't really care is something was natively rendered in 4k over something being scaled to 4k. I don't think they would even really noticed the loss in quality, unless there was a side by side comparison.
Isn't the PS4 Pro using a scaler as well to make it's content 4k? Wouldn't just outputting a 1080p image to 4k be noticeable bad? As far as reports h...
Yup, see this all the time. This only happens cause the "general public" really don't pay attention all that much. A lot of people just take what a company says as gospel. But I think most people are fine with it: If you showed someone a video that was 720p scaled up to 1080p... but didn't tell them that fact and claimed that it was just 1080p.... most people wouldn't know the difference and not really care if they found out it was 720p scaled. The enthusiasts care about...
Rumors are that it could be sporting the next gen version of that gpu... but who know's really. The truth is no one really knows, but you can make some educated guesses: It's gonna be a small device and it's gonna be priced "competitively," rumors are around $200/$250 US. At that price can you see it sporting hardware more powerful than an X1/PS4? Taking into consideration all the parts of that machine... it's gonna be tough to do so, unless that Switch is gonna be p...
at 10/10 from The Guardian for The Last Guardian... seems fishy!
jk
@TheCommentator wait, I didn't know that the Xbox One version of BF1 was using the cloud... and in a way to close the gap. I had no idea, how is the cloud being utilized in BF1?
