Yeah their stock hasn't risen much but look at their earnings(which despite the naysayers is still growing despite the competition). They just bought one of leading companies in corporate search(Fast Search and Transfer) which would probably make them the market leader. Once again take a look at their revenue and earnings for the past year and tell me if those numbers look like a company that is struggling in any way.
Well the market cap for Yahoo is only $32 billion. That being said the FCC won't allow this buyout. I'm pretty sure they'll find some reason to stop this from happening, although they did let Google buy Doubleclick so anything is possible.

You guys who come in here and bash the PS3 for it's sales kill me. In case you haven't noticed the PS3 had a better year than the 360 with all of it's problems(no software, price point). And don't you think the multiplat games would sell better when you have about 9-10 million more users? Just saying.
You know I thought Conker's bad Fur Day was a kiddie game too cause of the graphics, until I actually played the game. I see a similarity here(though not direct). LBP looks to draw young people in with the music and art but adults will utilize everything in the game, hardly seems like a kiddie game to me. That being said I won't buy this but it does look interesting.

I am hoping that this game is great. Hell I was gonna buy a 360 for this game alone(Oblivion really isn't my cup of tea). Just seeing the trailers was enough but i'm seeing some bad news about the game. I just hope it's as good as it looks.
Damn. The way they slammed it in all the reviews I would have figured the game would reach to 100 thousand nowhere near a million though.
Actually Bill Gates didn't steal anything. He bought the OS and then had the foresight to sell it for big money. Don't hate on Bill Gates because he bet on DOS being big and won.
Yeah I think it's foolish to be believe that Blu-Ray won't be cracked. Every new protection format will be cracked. There will always be people determined to break the protections for their own use. That's life.
Most of my friends who don't know much about technology and would be considered mainstream could care less about Hd movies at this point because upscaling looks fine to them. That being said most of them are considering upgrading to an HD player next year when they think it'll matter. Of course for all the people who feel this way, you have a similar amount of people who will buy HD movies now.
They probably could have put a HD-DVD in the 360 but that would have raised the price of the console, negating one of their advantages over the competition. I also think that they are banking on Digital Distribution and just need to buy tie until download speed are fast enough for Movies(It takes me a couple of days to download a movie and I live in the US).
Selling 8 million plus in it's first year is the worst possible start? By what standards? Come on man be serious.
You're going off the assumption that the PS3 will keep selling at this same rate and that the 360 will keep selling at it's same rate with no dropoff. This is flawed from both ends of the spectrum. On the Sony side it could drastically pick up sales while the 360 declines. On the 360 side sales could continue to increase or at least match the 360. Your 5-6 year estimate simply doesn't make sense. Chances are it will either catch up within 2-3 years or stay in last place.

I firmly believe that no one expected the holiday sales to stay the same for the PS3. To do so would have been extremely foolish and blind. That being said the sales are still higher than the 360 and that's what matter when trying to catch up. I don't think it'll happen this year but 09 might be different.
100% agreed. I've been saying this for quite some time. It doesn't matter how good a game is, if nobody knows it exists then it won't sell. Halo 3 is a perfect point of reference. MS damn sure got that right with their ad campaign and anything less for MGS4 will most likely result in lackluster sales.

I wouldn't say they did a horrible job on the 360. It's actually a good piece of hardware. Thier problem was they rushed it to the market, which was why you had the RROD and all whatever fan problem people have been complaining about(though I don't feel the 360 is as loud as some people say it is) You can believe that if MS waited another 6 months-1 year the 360 wouldn't have had any of the problems hardware issues it faced.
I agree Kyur but unfortunately getting the uninformed for their money is business, lucrative business at that. They'll try to milk it for as long as they can, as it's in their best interest until DD becomes widespread.
