Actually, no, that is not the case. DX11 uses one CPU core for DX cpu bound tasks that is just how it works and the reason they are making DX12. They do however offer bare metal API's where you can manage everything on your own for Xbox One. Of course this would mean re-writing all your DX code though. And when it comes to porting very few developers will do that. It isn't like you magically get multiple cores when you port your code to consoles. At least not until DX12 comes out.

I don't think that is accurate. Both PS4 and Xbox One reserve a set amount of memory. I believe games on both get right around 5GB of memory.

Actually Nutjitsu doesn't let you play snapped, Major Nelson lied! You can snap it, but it pauses. Lame. They need to make games where you can play snapped. Regardless, snapped apps are awesome!

DX12 will be beneficial to Unity3d and Unreal which in turn will be beneficial to Indies. Indies alone will not be writing much DX code, but they will definitely be using engine that will take heavy advantage of it.

If the PS4 is more powerful, why does it do Suspend/Resume multitasking compared to full multitasking on the X1? I am just curious. I own both and if I am just going by using the systems every day, the X1 definitely feels more powerful, because of the multitasking nature of it.

Interesting article, thanks. Definitely seems like the isolation of the OS's and Apps has really made updates more streamlined. Pretty awesome that they are able to deliver fresh ideas and fixes into the system on a monthly basis.

Big fan of the multitasking features as well, especially now that they fixed the volume issue. Been casually watching the NFL draft in the side window while playing games this week and it is great. Pretty cool to see that Nutjitsu game even wor...

I think the main problem is that the "Greenlight" label makes it seem like Valve is supporting that game and putting their name behind it. The program is a great idea, but they really need to put an effort into QA testing if they want their name tied to them.

Are the Indiana Jones movies banned in Germany too? That would be horrible

Well I guess we can look forward to many more re-mastered games from last gen :D.

Me too. They do share some similarities but there is definitely room in my collection for both : )

Pretty good video, except for the mask :D. As for the topic, no question they are art!

LBP while awesome doesn't offer the same levels of creativity that Project Spark does. It is free on the PC, you should check it out. You can create any game you want, I even made a semi remake of Resogun. The worlds you can create and the lighting with particle effects etc are just amazing.

Granted, having a lot of programming knowledge will definitely help you create more amazing experiences, but even people new to programming can create some pretty awesome things.

I would say the most creative game period right now is Project Spark. As far as creativity goes there has never been another game like it.

Definitely benefits to OneDrive, shows up on all your devices automatically for streaming without having to download, plus available to share with others to stream. Plus OneDrive acts as a virtual physical drive on Windows 8 so the files are basically automatically synced. Still this is a great solutions for getting clips that you do want to download that you haven't put on OneDrive or do not want to put on OneDrive.

The publisher creates the terms of the sale. I can see how we would want that to be in the contract, however I have never seen that clause. Publisher retains the rights in every clause I have ever read. We are only buying the right to experience the code. They could make the games only work from 2am until 3am every day and we would have no say in that except not buying it.

Or we could make our own games, that we can do with as we please : )

Pretty cool stuff. Awesome way to download your own videos without using OneDrive for editing too.

I am of the opinion that a user can never own an experience, unless they created it or bought the rights to publish that experience. It's a tricky subject because of course we want to own what we buy and we think because we have something physical like a disk that it means it is ours. That isn't actually correct though, the disk alone does nothing beside make a very poor Frisbee :D.

The developer/publisher isn't selling you their code, they are selling you the rig...

Yeah, I would love to see the costs of games come down across the board. Seems they would sell so many more systems and conversely games if they just made the content more reasonable. The biggest barrier of getting into gaming is the ridiculous cost of content. Personally I don't think length plays a part in costs of games, same as I don't care if movies are long or short but I do wish the average price overall would come down to a level that more people could afford the games.

I agree, but I am not sure that I dislike it. Many games in my opinion are too long, at least the story/campaign parts. Would rather games focus and create a great narrative in a shorter time and flesh out the gameplay through additional challenges, kind of like what Ground Zeroes did.

RPG's where you make your own story such as Skyrim, Fable etc don't fall into this category but games like MGS, Ryse, Tomb Raider, Last of Us, Uncharted etc I think they benefit from ha...
