I am in no way against streaming like some here seem to be. Saying that I personally don't care for a service with the only option being streaming. I am much more interested in XCloud and possibly a revamped PSNow experience as they will provide options on how you play (local, streaming) and a much bigger catalog to chose from. I other words I am not stuck playing one way or the other. I can choose depending on my needs. However, I won't take full judgement on this service for a few ...
@ocelot07
" Only issue I had with Sony this gen is denying us EA access a few years ago as they didn't see the value in it. "
That is not why. They didn't allow EA Access (released Aug. 2014) because the service was going to be a competing service to their PSNow (Jan. 2014) service. It is the same reason YouTubeTV hasn't seen the light of day on the PS4, for the simple reason that it is competing against Sony's (soon to be former) PSVue ...
There is nothing wrong with streaming games. The problem for now (and probably many years into the future) is when it is the only option. Stadia has only one option, streaming. xCloud and PSNow are being built on the idea that there are multiple options for game play within each ecosystem. You wont have to chose just between local or streaming game play. Play only local, play both local & streaming, or only game stream. Any of those scenarios will work the xCloud plans Microsoft announ...
And I have read about 10 of those. And almost every one those "perfect scores" gives similar negatives about the game. And not just little negatives. In any of those cases another game would not have gotten a 10. It can be life changing new genre (which it is not) but that doesn't make it a 10 for trying to do something different. It gets props but ignoring the negatives by a reviewer that would normally tank the score to give it a 10 is not right. The same goes to the other ...
@Tech5
I am still questioning what the xCloud executive meant when she said streaming what you own/buy. She seemed off of the planned script as she got derailed by the interviewer skipping ahead Maybe she was referring to streaming from the console (a thing you will be able to do with games you own) and not talking about xCloud. She just implied streaming not necessarily xCloud. And if she meant xCloud it was not really expanded on what that meant to the consumer. Would it cos...
The Switch uses available tech. That means the Switch uses storage that is mass produced and that is available to be used on anything form PCs to cameras and is available for many different manufacturing sources. Which in turn means there is a lot of competition which drives down costs over time. Whether this is a reality or not in a future PS5, it seems the idea of using cartridges for game distribution that is based solely on using Sony's own proprietary tech would lead to none of th...
@ChrisW
Micro SD cards are becoming less expensive because they are not proprietary and easily usable on a variety of devices. In other words there is a large demand. If Sony did this the tech would be proprietary and just for this console (I wouldn't see demand for it even if Sony offered others the ability to use it). Further, I can guarantee it would follow similar patterns of Sony's past attempt to do proprietary storage. Meaning expensive.
@gamingunited
Funny, Death Stranding defense is always it looks good, not that it isn't a weird walling simulator. I don't know if this game will be fun but, I rather have a fun game then one that is all about looks. It would be great to be both (e.g. God of War or Gears) but, given a choice I am willing to forgo having "AAA" game look if I can just have a fun game.
Except if you actually paid attention to the actual developers own words this game was in development long before the Microsoft acquisition. And was done by a very small team while other teams (yest plural) are working other projects. Good to see you can hold onto your PS4 fanboy card a bit longer as you don't let the facts get in the way of your stupidity.

While ignoring the same cartoonish, child/young adults (styled) exclusives Sony releases. Like the recent Concrete Genie or the remastered Medievil.
What are you talking about? Two of the three biggest potential game streaming services will be from console manufacturers (PSNow, xCloud). They want you to use streaming not avoid it. They know that is where the growth will be.
As long as it is just an option for playing (and not the only option, yes I am looking at you Stadia) then I am in for the ride as well.
How are they better at hardware? That is no longer true (and hasn't been for a while). Sony sold off their laptop and desktop unit (Vaio) at the very beginning of this gen 02-2014). They now primarily make a phone, TVs/AV/Cameras, imagining sensors and toy robots but, no longer desktops or laptops. Which by all accounts consoles are just that specialized PCs. Of the two companies the only one that actually designs and builds similar devices now is Microsoft with their Surface line ...
@MasterCornholio
Not everything and not necessarily earlier.
.
Microsoft did in 5 minutes at E3 what took Sony two Wired articles (before and after E3), several tweets and further comments by Sony executives to accomplish. We know both are using Navi/Zen APU. Both have hardware based RT and SSD. But, even so each has mentioned items the other hasn't. We know there are some design changes in the DS controller with feedback/hepatic usage and 3D audio in the P...
Continuing with that logic what you are implying is any possible future with a TLOU3 will be like Godfather 3? And as you said "How did that turn out again, I forgot?"
It could have been funny with Sony now owning Insomniac and the Sunset Overdrive IP would have been replacing Monster with OverCharge Delirium XT vending machines.
Nope. Booty (head of Xbox Game Studios) said any future game will exclusive to the the Microsoft gaming ecosystem. Which means Xbox and Windows not PS.
@Ristul
This game was made by a smaller team at Obsidian and on a AA (small) budget. Obisidian has struggled for a while trying to get funding for games. Often scrapping by having to do some elses vision (not their own IP) to pay the bills. You just have to watch the interview with company head, Feargus Urquhart, on the matter.
Obisidian was not actually bought for any plans on this game (it has actually become a welcome surprise to Xboxes catalog of possible f...
But it hasn't thrived. It has lost money for 5 1/2 years. Sony hides PSNow revenue and expense numbers within other accounting categories. They would not be doing that if it was anyway in the black and even noted their disappointment in PSNow revenue in several Sony meetings with investors. And finally after 5 1/2 years crossed 1 million subscribers. Which is less than 1% of the current PS4 user base. That is not thri...
Hardly. If you invested $10,000 you would have close to $30,000. It was trading at $21 this time in 2014 and it sits at $60 today. Where as, if you invested in MS that same $10,000 you would have close to $35,000 in value today/. MS sat around $42 this time in 2014 and now is around $144. So, only people that would be really rich are those that were rich to begin with (e.g investing millions to make millions). You would have been wealthier not rich.
