Blu-Ray in a PS6 will most assuredly be there. Unless you believe they will drop support in a PS6 for the PS4 and PS5 games then otherwise BC with this gen and the PS5 gen would require it. I could see an option without the drive but, there definitely will be a PS6 SKU with some type of support for Blu-Ray. It is not like we are talking 25 years from now but, 8 years at most.
This is not news. Microsoft have said this from the very beginning.As far back as E3 2018 (almost 18 months ago) Once the next-gen Xbox is available they fill the centers with it shortly after.
Exactly. the growth of real game streaming has to be done organically. By that I mean you can't force it as the only way. I see this no different then digital purchases. It has taken well over a decade for that to even reach over 50% of game sales on consoles. We could take your example but apply it to digital sales. If on day one of providing digital sales options Sony said that it was the only way to buy games (no more physical) There would be a amass exodus from Sonyy with people se...
Listen I am the farthest thing from being a fan of Stadia. But, I have no problem letting there be options for people. If people are willing to try and weather out the current Stadia storm then good for them. Google will be here; they aren't going anywhere on this front any time soon, even if it is failing now or a year or two from now. And they will right the ship in some way. Will they be the future king via streaming that the media once called them? I doubt it. But, they will be an...

"unlike stadia games that are locked if you cancel service"
Not true though. That was going around as true but was clarified as false. Listen I am no fan of Stadia as it stands now. But, I am not going to spread false statements either. Premiere works no different then PS+ or Gold does with respect to content bought with discounts or the free game(s).
@unmair_s51
Obviously that is not going to happen. Don't you own a PC? At the very least when the service arrives for PC for testing next year you could try to get into the beta because it has Gears 5 (along with 50+ other games to test) or when it goes live order Game Pass for a month and stream it to even a lowly powered desktop (that is one clear the advantage of streaming - not being dependent on the device being powerful rig/console). My brother doesn't own a PS and di...
I agree. I can see Nintendo allowing XCloud or PSNow if Microsoft or Sony gave Nintendo a little piece of the action (don't ask me how they would determine it just that it would be a more likely scenario if they could). But, there is no way Nintendo could monetize RemotePlay in some way for their own benefit. It only takes away from gamers buying content form Nintendo stores which is not what Nintendo wants.
Yes you can. But, unlike streaming directly from a service like PSNow, Remote Play depends not only on the internet capability of your location you are streaming to but, also the internet up speed where your PS4 is located.
Not the same. Even most PS fanboys were giving shit after the State of Plays. The only people I see here acting as X019 was crap are the ones that have never touched an Xbox or have no interest in Game Pass. The same PS4 fanboys you get in every Xbox article.
This is what I have been saying. Options! That is what will allow for streaming to be acceptable. It must be ust an option and not the only option. This means allowing you to play your games from a variety experiences whether that be local or streaming. I buy it, I chose how I want to experience. XCloud looks to be doing this right so far. From making Game Pass content streamable to allowing to stream the games you buy. But, never lose sight that local play is still king and will be for ...
To be fair though this Google project was long in development before Phil Harrison joined Google back in early 2018. Putting all the onerous on him is a mistake. Doing so relinquishes responsibility to others.
I have always felt that Stadia was being released earlier then they had planned because they saw Microsoft was getting farther along with their own streaming initiative then expected. So, Google decided to push Stadia out well before it was ready in order to make sur...
@Fish Fingers
Not necessarily true. It depends on how it is connected SATA, PCIe, etc.. Often if connected to PCIe then sequential reads/writes with the M.2 can be faster (not dramatically but still faster and noticeable). However, since an OS more often is made up smaller reads that encompass random access the same M.2 situation does not reach the top speeds afforded by the large bandwidth of an SSD on SATA-3. In theory it should be better becausw it has higher bandwidth but their ...
@bouzebbal
So? If that works for you the good. Microsoft doesn't care about how many consoles they sell. They care how many people are in the ecosystem and engaged. Consoles sales don't tell you a story of engagement. And engagement is where the money is made. You will not need a console to drive engagement they way you have done in the past. However, in most cases, for the foreseeable future, it will remain consoles that provide the access point for most of console gamers ...
No not like share play. Did even read the article? Share-play you give over control to the game. Xbox already something somewhat similar to share-play called co-pilot.
In this people are literally playing co-op on the couch on different devices not as the same character each using their own device to play together on the same game. The example they gave was somebody was playing a game of Sea of Thieves on couch using xCloud on his phone. His kid was on the Xbox playing wit...
XCloud is focusing on mobile devices. Something Stadia has not done at all (only supports their own phone while Xcloud in testing is already supporting 18 phones and growing). I have yet to see any Stada review even do real cell phone testing (using actual 4G not using the local WIFI). Maybe no one owns a Pixel phone to test. So the comparisons of being the same are not true at this point. And from my experience XCloud works very good at that mobile experience. Right now there is no 4K or...
I would expect you could use your DS4. BC just doesn't mean supporting games but, supporting as many of the peripherals as well. For example, I suspect that driving wheels and other PS4 specific devices should work in most cases on the PS5. So should the DS4.
@meganick
Unfortunately there are enough PS4 games that use it that with BC coming to the PS5 they must keep it around. Actually, Sony may even double down and make it even more worthless with a touchscreen no one will use or develop for as well. A touchscreen, more than anything, would probably would only serve to drain the battery even faster.
Edit: I hate absolutism. I didn't actually me "no one" but only very small percentage of games will take ...
You mean they are not focused on supporting 4% of their user base with a controller 100% of PS5 will have to use. If they did it would mean 96% of PS owners would essentially be paying for useless features they never use and increase the cost of the controller unnecessarily. If you are worried about VR I can almost certainly see Sony having a "forward-thinking" VR specific designed controller you can go spend $80+ dollars on when the PSVR2 is released. So, worry less.
Battery changes doesn't mean anything if all those additional features eat more battery life. And god help us all if there is now a worthless touchscreen instead of just the already pretty much useless touch pad.
