Several things. Norway has the same issues in many ways that everywhere else has. You probably live near a large population center (actually there is really one on large population center in Norway) and so they aren't that obvious. I live near a large population city in the US and have never had data caps and have good fiber. Having visited Norway I know they have issues just like any other country when it comes broadband in rural areas (of which many small towns I visited did have quasi...
And you don't think PSNow will be streaming their exclusives to phones and PCs next gen. They will. And when they do you can't really in honestly them exclusives. If anybody does't think they will then they are in for a rude awakening next-gen (just the two top peopl at SIE, Ryan and Kodera are all about this type of move). The idea of exclusives to a single device will disappear. The streaming competition (Stadia and XCloud) will most assuredly be putting their catalog (everythin...
As opposed to Sony using Amazon or Google? Sony has to use somebody. PSNow has never been hosted by Sony data centers but a hodgepodge of different providers depending on the region it was serving. In fact most of Sony's services are hosted in third-party data centers, like AWS. So, they are always paying some.
If Sony wanted to keep up and do it themselves (to support PSNow and other services) they would need to build data centers, lots and lots of data centers and ...
In aditon to above:
My assistant just came and said some place that I wasn't even thinking about: Amazon. It fits a lot of those boxes for moving on and would make a lot of sense if they are getting into a gaming service (Stadia like service). But, all are guesses with no hints to his plans. At this point he could just as likely become a beekeeper or open a goat yoga studio.
At best those type of moves would be lateral. For example what would he be at Sony? He would have to be replacing Ryan not Kodera. Kodera as networking services lead is essentially (as close as it can be) his counterpart at Sony. And I don't see Ryan going anywhere, do you? So Sony seems like a non-starter. If he is going anywhere it would be a move up the ladder. And that next step up would mean running the show at SIE or Stadia not continuing to be second fiddle. And as I noted both S...
It does bother me that there is no chemistry with anybody on that show. I like the format just not the players. I do feel it is something different then just one after another trailers that we can see on YouTube already. I like learning more about the games and features coming to Xbox from the developers directly. However, they need to tighten up the show. Maybe just one main host doing it live and possibly on the town side kick that has pre taped (instead of live) pieces. Make it around 40 ...
I don't know what linking to those pages show. Are you saying Steam created the slogan "Life is short, play more"?
That is pretty impressive. Steam must have used that time machine I heard they have locked up in the basement considering Microsoft used that slogan in 2001 and that is 2 years before Steam even existed (Steam launched Sept 2003). And Oberiron.io come on they only existed long after Steam (about 3 years ago). Or are you saying Gabe let them use...
Except the 360 BC is emulation based. Virtualized whole 360 systems. That is far cry from being on a next-gen system that is based on the same architecture, same OS, etc... and just running the games as executables as is being done with PS5s PS4 BC. I doubt Xbox One to Scarlett is going to have limitations.
I would give that work in progress credence if we were talking about PS3 BC on the PS5 but, not PS4 to PS5. In a scenario to get PS3 games (just like 360 BC) it definit...
@CorndogBurlar
Not to disagree. There will be a PS6. Just like as Spencer noted there will be a next console after Scarlett.
But if these companies could make the same money selling it as a service (PSNow or XCloud) over having to do it with local hardware they would drop the consumer hardware aspect of it. Hardware and support of that end is the most expensive part and, in most cases, with very little return. And as streaming (again years off for this) takes a gr...
It is pretty much just mobile now. I think Play Station is in for big decline in Japan next gen. And the recipient of that decline will not be Japanese players buying Xbox consoles. (that is just not going to happen either) Right now there just isn't the demand and growth there for stationary console gaming devices. This gen Japan is probably only region that is not exceeding the previous gen numbers and PS4 sale numbers have dramatically dropped there in the last few years. Meanwhile ...
Fairly new? The Outer Worlds hasn't been released yet. It comes to Game Pass the day of its actual release. The very day you can start playing the game on PS4, Xbox or Windows. (Oct 25th).
You do understand how records work right? Once you break a record like the PS2 did over the PS. In order to break it again you must surpass what the PS2 did, not the one it broke. You don't say a runner broke a record just because ran a 4 minute mile if there are hundreds that have done it. No, they must beat the current record (3:43.13) not the one set first in 1954 (3:59.4). The same applies to this situation. The PS4 didn't break anything is just surpassed a number (a milestone)...
They don't use super computers for streaming PS3 games. Where did you get that nonsense? They use modified PS3 devices packed into blades (8 custom PS3s packed into each single rack server).
That is the problem with BC. You have to keep the bad parts with the good. The touchpad was hardly ever used but since it was and the PS5 will have BC for PS4 game it has to stick around to make sure the games (especially the ones that used it beyond a simple swipe) run. Same goes for that damn light bar.
As long as it is an accessory I don't see how anybody can be against it. A persons choice to add it is fine. But, a camera forced upon users would be disastrous for either console under any circumstance. I don't care if is on the device (as this rumored mentioned about the Scarlett or Prospero) or in the controller (see PS5 controller rumors). If people want a camera or a Alexa like AI with listening capability (always watching, always listening or at least the potential of) than th...
