This is MR + AR + VR not just VR. And it isn't just one company it is at least six possible (or seven now) OEMs that will support Microsoft's design with this MR initiative. This means all these OEM headsets and any add-on devices will be interchangeable among each others following the standards set forth by Microsoft. Don't like the feel of Acers headset buy a Dell or Asus. But, if you like Acer's controllers they still work with those Dell, Asus or others. All support the...
@Cupid_Viper_3 "Google, Apple, Sony, NVidia, Acer, Facebook, Samsung, HTC, and the list goes on and on, that are all investing in VR/AR at the moment. Saying that VR will not take up until Microsoft gets involved is quite nonsensical, to be honest. Surely a big a player like Microsoft finally joining the party (albeit later than most other big partners) is a good thing for VR."
Of that list only couple on your list have an VR on the market. And let’s face it with...
I have to keep reminding people that write this "premium" argument and price that from day one Sony has called the PS4 Pro a premium console but, for some reason it gets a by. Or is it that you realize the Pro(which I own by the way) isn't a premium console. As a premium device the Pro at $399 was OK but, if Microsoft uses that term the Scorpio must be $500 to live up to that expectation of it being a premium device, otherwise it isn't?
Copying and pasting your same statement over and over here doesn't make it any more real. As for your office experience I know the opposite (including myself). People at work and friends that have owned previous WiiU/Wii/3DS devices (all the devices in my case) and only a couple out of maybe a couple dozen have bought one. Many have moved on. And I also know of among these same social groups that never owned Nintendo or just an Xbox or PS4 and only one has felt the need to get a Switc...
Yeah spend all that time developing a PC version then sell 100k copies for it but have it 10million pirated copies floating around. That is a winning business decision.
If you think the Scorpio is a shitty CPU what is the PS4 line going to do to make up for the super shitty Jags in those consoles, They don't even have magic of the "cloudzz 2.0" to look forward to. :)
CPU power by console for this generation: Scorpio > PS4 Pro > Xbox One S > Xbox One > PS4 & PS4(S)
@343_Guilty_Spark Not putting a 4KUHD Blu-Ray in the PS4 Pro is a price decision. This came down to compatibility and market availability. Ryzen is not available for anything console related. Scaling down the APU won't begin until next year. AMD originally said later this year but the CEO confirmed availability next year. At that point it would be considered a pricing decision to use or not use VEGA/REN (see PS5 rumors). A
I think this rumor is bullocks. Way too soon. Sony has no need to ruin it's flow. Late 2019 when the technology will be ready to blow-up the next generation. It is at that time viable options for the console space becomes available. E.G. Vega & Zen won't be scaled down until early next year and that scale down is designed for mid to high end notebook devices price points, not console price points. So, unless Sony plans bring another hybrid device, taking tech from Vega and ...
And you are a very high gaming customer. Well I guess if we convert your stoned smakers to dollars it comes to around $449 (.75 dollars to 1 Imaginationland smaker)
So at such a low price of $330 for the PS4 Pro, which Sony has always called a premium product as well, it can't be called a premium product any longer right? I didn't think so. Premium for the Scorpio is in relation to the XB S. Just like the Pro I in relation to the PS4 base unit. Both premium consoles charging more compared to their base units. So like the Pro and PS4 base formula, if the XBS is $249 in Fall than $100-200 is a premium value.
What? You want to throw a larger drive in there (30+ probably additional cost) plus an Elite controller (MSPR $149) all for only $100 more ($499)? That makes no business sense whatsoever. They don't need two loss leaders. Just one. Your package would be realistically be $150 more at the very minimum. It would make more sense if they were going to do an another SKU to just jump up the internal to 3TB, an elite controller and a special paint job for $200 more. But, realistically there ...
Microsoft goes first on Sunday the 11th and Sony goes two days later.
I don't think Sony is going to adjust their Pro prices beyond what they are planning on doing (which is rumored to be $50 drop for both their consoles). Remember any further drop adjustment in the PS4 Pro must be reflected in their base console as well to keep that pricing differential. So with your logic if the Scorpio surprises them and gets a MSRP of $399 and Sony reacts by dropping the PS4 Pro by ...
How old are these parents in your "no clue" world you live in? Are they buying an console for their 40 year child who still lives in the basement? I can see grandparents in their 70's a little lost. However, parents with young children/teens are 30 to 40 years old. Heck there a millennials now in their mid 30's. You actually believe these people won't know the difference between the Pro/Scorpio and the base units? Switch, maybe they will get confused and buy cheap ...
All the GPU / CPU's (APU) in any of this consoles are custom designed (PS4 custom, Xbox One S custom, PS4 Pro custom, Scorpio custom designed) Nothing new. They all have additional parts custom designed (and not related to AMD chip manufacturing) E.G the whole audio system in the Xbox One is specifically custom designed chipset to be ultra low latency for Kinect. Sure the memory, HD and disc drives on these machines may be off the shelf (relatively speaking) but most of all these cons...
I pretty sure anything under $399 Nadella would nix that notion in the butt. I could see $449 ($499 most likely) as a good deal and $399 if they wanted it to be a loss leader and put pressure on the Pro.
There is no 500GB version. Scorpio starts with 1TB. You can just plug in your current external drive and play the games day one. No patches necessary to play them on the Scorpio and to get your current games running more smoothly (apparently no boost mode needed). Patches are only needed for current games that will deliver new 4K content or up the graphic fidelity.
Phil also said (multiple times, which people seemed to keep ignoring) the Scorpio would be price within this console generation pricing structure. Since the Xbox One was originally $499 I'd expect it will be priced that or below. That is if we are to believe what he has noted previously. Plus, premium is a term relative to the current console. If the S was $399, a premium device would not be $429 but if the S is $299 then $429-$499 is a premium device price.
