@surveyfoll This is a common practice. Doing avoids several issues.
First, with expired trademark rights someone like me could release a cheap Flappy Bird style game (but with 8bit dragons) and call it Scalebound. If Microsoft gave up their rights by not renewing the trademark they would have very little (actually none against my version) to defend the name and surrounding design mechanics as their property.
Yes, we need more of this type of response to these fascists people. But, no now we get games where many developers bend over backwards to integrate political agendas into games to subdue these crybabies. Sometimes it makes sense but, most of the time doing so without reason just emboldens groups and individuals to make increasingly outrageously stupid-demands like this Sara SJW.
And there is the problem with that thought: "Nintendo fans". With a large majority of current Switch purchases being bought by these fans what is going to drive everyone else to Switch. It will take more than a new Mario game every year to grab those other possible Switch purchasers. That purchaser already most likely has a tablet, a smart phone that covers many of their casual gaming needs or maybe an Xbox or PS4 or PC that covers the heavier games. I get it, fans of Nintendo f...
There will be no exclusives for just the Scorpio (except for possible VR/MR related games). This has been repeated dozens of times by the Xbox brass. So stop worrying about it doing so will age you needlessly.
We also know Nintendo is again not having a press event like both Microsoft and Sony are having.
As for the space, did you look at Microsoft's space? Unlike the other two they are surrounded by almost all the major third party AAA game makers in the main hall. If you have ever been to an E3 you will know the content they (Microsoft and Sony) always show on their consoles is often just as much third party games as is their first party games. Perhaps Microsoft realized...
Just curious, if your argument for not buying an Xbox One is that those Xbox games will also be on Windows PC, does that also mean you will not buy a PS4 or if you have one sell it now that Sony has stated that the PS4 exclusive games will becoming at some point to the PC via PSNow?
Mind you Phil said several times this past couple of months that not all first party Xbox games will make their way to the PC.
You mean like when Bungie wanted to leave the Microsoft fold because they felt stifled and wanted to spread their creative wings beyond Halo. After all that screaming for the need to doing something different they created Destiny (Halo in a different dress). How creative was that move? /s
I agree for the most part. My Pro has done what I expected it to do in most cases. I would not say always a "great experience" though. It can be great but, it can also be just OK. I guess it is sometimes underwhelming knowing what the PS4 Pro can do but not doing it. But, that is mostly on the developers and that will change as they get to use the Pro as part of t he development process in developing new games from the ground up, not just patching older games. I think the games ...
First: you can't be DOA and it will take a long time. I choose the later . Being DOA means VR will never get a chance to ever make it to mainstream. However I do expect VR or perhaps AR (where the real money will be) to be more mainstream in a much shorter time then you apparently believe.
Secondly: Don't judge the upcoming future of VR gaming with this past year or so. If this were movie industry, VR now would be the equivale...
Try to keep up the Microsoft designed VR headsets from Acer and other OEMs for the Windows ecosystem start at $299 with two controllers and inside-outside tracking. Not $400-600.
You don't have to buy a PS4 for PSVR to work? That is strange I thought you did have to have a PS4. Man you learn something everyday. Good to know, no need to buy a PS4 to run PSVR.
The devices coming from the Microsoft MR consortium (Asus, HP, Dell, Acer. Lenovo and others) will work on the desktop as well. I guess you could say it is buy once PlayAnywhere for these VR devices.
Nope it will be based on Microsoft design and supported by several OEM devices (and Microsoft itself). All interchangeable and all devices work on any Windows system that meets the minimum specs. That means Windows desktop, Scorpio, & Surface Hub, etc... can use any of these MR (mixed- reality) devices. Nothing is stopping Oculus and Rift from creating a device that supports the Microsoft standard. In fact some of the current OEMs will be supporting not only VR but also have planned ...
@SM3000 The Acer with two controllers is $299 not $400. The HP device is going to be $349. Both Dell and Asus are supposed to be announcing their devices in the coming month.
@Goldby Advantage of all these Microsoft supported devices is that they will work on the desktop and Scorpio devices and hub. And if the Scorpio comes at $399 (it is a possibility) than we are $700 total for getting VR Xbox device. The Acer headset is $299 and comes with two controllers. Also, sin...
Change the title to Microsoft can make VR mainstream and it would be more likely. Scorpio will be starting at zero. PS4 had mild millions of consoles in gamers living rooms and even though Sony sold a million or so PSVR units it did not materialize in a mainstream movement. But, Windows 10 desktop has 500 million and growing user base. With VR/AR built-in capabilities to the recent Creators update and Microsoft VR API they are trying to standardize and with 6 and growing OEMs supporting Mic...
I have this thing called a laptop. You should look into these new devices. Mine works pretty well away from my home, inside and out. I get 10 hours of use without it needing to be plugged in and it can play games. Played Gears 4 for almost 4 hours the other day. It can do other things too. One cool thing it does is this thing called Netflix. I don't know if it will catch on but, maybe you can tell Nintendo about it so they could add it to the Switch.
PS4 games (recent or not) are available as of yet on PSNow because the service has not officially released that capability to the general public. None-the-less, the point is the PS4 exclusive games will be on the service once the PSNow officially starts support PS4 streamed games. Whether you want call them exclusives or not their existence as solely only on the PS4 is timed. I am sure we will learn a lot more of what the PSNow PS4 catalog will contain at this years E3. However, in order for...
What PCs are you taking about? Are talking about the less than 10% of PC gamer computers (according to Steam) that are capable of even running a game at 4K and even smaller subset of that even own a monitor capable of running a game at 4K. Are those the PCs you are talking about? I will concede their is small percentage of PC's that will be able to run games better just based on machine specs. But, we all know that consoles in general (eg. the Xbox One and Ps4 originals) bat so far...
I think you missing the point. This is the Windows ecosystem it is not designed exclusively for Scorpio. It is designed to run on any (any, any, one more time any) Windows device that meets the basic requirements. Which will soon include a barrage of full Windows ARM desktop devices. That is why it is a big deal. This is a PlayAnywhere device. Get back to me when the PSVR can truly plugin and game on Windows 10 desktop, or a Surface Hub for easy educational or business use, etc.. Get back t...
What 30 million owners? This VR is not for the 30 million owners it is for the millions of future Scorpio that will exist in the coming year. It is also for those millions of Window 10 PC gamers ready to use MR. You can take the same hardware that follows Microsoft's open standard and designs and use it on any device that meets the base requirements all within in the whole Windows ecosystem. Right out of the bag these devices (which there will be 7 OEMs right now making them) will be a...
You have serious mental issues you need to deal with. You make no sense. Take notes form other companies for what? You call them cocky, greedy? Why because they give you options (well not you, that tinfoil hat would get in the way of the VR unit). And what faces are you looking at? Start taking your meds you aren't better for being off them.
IllumiRoom was a proof on concept. Innovative companies do dozens of these that are never really meant to reach the market. A ...
