He is just guessing. Please. If he had the pricing he also spill the beans on the actual name. Oh yea ,big stretch to say it includes 12GB of RAM, a 4KUHD player, and is 6TFLOPS. That is some Pachter predicting there, partly guessing, the rest obvious. So risky!
@Foxtrot & Kingthrash360 It is good thing it gives different vibes to people. I personally had a futuristic Game of Thrones with mech warriors (TitanFallish) with Destiny vibe with that whole protective giant wall and iron man suit thing going on. We will find out which vibe is correct tomorrow. :) It is an open jungle world that is all I know.
Andrew Wilson has characterized it as an action-adventure.
@Gunstar75 "keep the flame wars alive"
Sony is a business not some silly little fandom to support immature little brats having comment wars because they think these two companies really care about them. Even hinting at PS5 would be huge mistake. PS4 is a success, it will continue to be a success even if Scorpio is released somehow at $399 (All bets are off if the release it at $349 but that is pure fantasy on my part). These companies play a long game, not a short little ...
And if they did the cheerleaders all the internet would be abuzz of the SJW causing an uproar. And people like you I telling those overly sensitive haters to go F' themselves. EAs whole conference would have been lost in the craziness of the overly liberal PC cryfest.

Microsoft is going to knock our socks off with the new hardware (Scorpio, and maybe the Elite Controller 2) and lots of new content mixed in with all (OK most) of the third parties doing doing 4K 60FPS (well except for Destiny because their engine sucks). I have no doubts about it.
Sony has a lot content to show as well. So, they are also going to be ...
Ok lets assume argument is about a business decision. That was not the point of the Ars article it seemed like veiled piece to support Sony's business decision not Microsoft. For Microsoft the investment to do all this is BC is small. I remember a while back they discussed the program; the actual team was not even 5 people and for three of the engineers it wasn't what they did full time for Xbox, it was side gig. There is not actual costs game wise. No massive support costs other...
No. The lag on those really cheap TV's would make playing on 4K, like a FPS for example, unbearable and not worth the experience. Not saying all low priced TV's just double check when a dealing with a low price of $369 for a large 56" 4K TV. It most likely has cut corners and the first thing I would look at would be the lag. Does it have built-in game mode? Plus that 56" probably doesn't even have HDR (and that makes great big difference playing games on 4K). Even a m...
* I don't know why people keep brining up closing studios. They both closed the same amount in the past few years. The same last year. Your point? As for Minecraft, it makes more money in a year than all the Sony's first party studios combined, So again, your point? I am sure Sony would love to own that Minecraft IP. And I get you think these 6 months of new games is a lifetime but, Sony had dry spells of good game releases in comparison to Xbox releases scheduled as well these pa...
@Cupid_Viper_3 For the most part I agree with your breakdown. I just personally like the option. There are things that don't care for example: PSNow. I don't use it but, it is still an option for some. So I am fine with it. It doesn't hurt me even if those numbers are drastically less than BC on the Xbox and that money and time supporting it could be used elsewhere.
But as your breakdown shows you believe it is all about numbers of time spent. So, would you ...
Stop injecting your own opinion as fact as a belief of the masses. Say "I" not "all". Otherwise you whole opinion becomes invalid as it tries to stand on the base of a false premise.
Not going to happen. They are keeping the cost console as low as possible. Adding the Elite only makes them less money. No reason to give away something people would gladly pay for a premium price outside of the console.
Besides Microsoft is getting ready to release a new iteration of Elite Controller. That is why you see all these deals for the current Elite controller. Stores are clearing stock out in preparation.
The issue is that Scorpio machine itself supposedly requires Windows 10 RS3 to be complete. It is built on some features that will be part of RS3 (Windows 10 Creators Update 2) .
That version of Windows is not coming out until the end of Summer at the earliest. So unless Microsoft wants the first thing people to do when the boot up is to be forced into a long OS update than I don't think Scorpio is coming out in the first part of October. Plus it is Friday the 13t...
Speak for yourself. Please don't include me in this "Nobody" group you imagine exists. I have a PS4 and I care to play my old PS3. My PS3 is no longer around, long gone to the great PS heaven. So, I do care about BC and it would be nice for the ability to play my PS3 games without having to pay to stream via PSNow. Sure, like Xbox BC, I may only use it a couple hours here and there and vary from week to week. But, I long to play some of my favorite games again. Not everyt...
Wait big guns? VR is used on 1.6% of all PS4's and unless that 1.6% of consoles users currently only exclusively play on PSVR for 100's of hours a week it will barely make a mark in any time use chart. But, I doubt nowadays PSVR owners use the VR in any large amount time now (did they ever use it for hours at time and boy would I like to see those usage numbers - perhaps we can get Ryan to tell us the numbers like Microsoft shared for Xbox BC) and I am sure (100% sure) that it'...
@tyasia0 He is not wrong about emulation being a chip. The PS3 went through several PS2 BC attempts.
The first was the actual PS2 CPU and GPU were combined into a single chip and placed inside the original PS3. There were issues with the chip itself. I don't know if that problem was the overheating psychometer referenced or not. It was not the exact PS2 components. The combined chip had to have knowledge it was inside another system and so it emulated the full hardware...
@zivtheawesome Not correct. Microsoft already said if a game has higher res assets (4K, 1440, etc..) and you are on a 1080p monitor those assets will be downsampled for the 1080 TV.
@zivtheawesome So to answer you question yes Scorpio will benefit lower res screens if a game has added the assets for higher res features of Scorpio. Let's not forget it has a boost mode built-in (no patch or config switch required) that should affect responses for all games, whether yo...
@81BX It is the total memory Microsoft is providing developers to use on the production Scorpio. They went from 4GB reserved for the OS and 8GB for gaming to 3GB reserved for the OS and system functions and 9GB for games
