I assume by integrated VR you mean add tech to the PS5 that makes the breakout box not necessary. However, any integrated VR tech is just taxing the 96% that will not have an interest in getting VR. It just means less money spent elsewhere and to me that sounds a like a Kinect move (albeit probably not the same expense) for any next-gen PS system. If Sony could do it and absorbed the cost then great. But, if it means it will affect the 100% of gamers not getting a larger hard drive or a big...
@kevb From what I remember Sony are using AWS and OpenStack for most of their cloud services not their actual own. Sony was talking about strarting to actually do this all inhouse but the expense would be billions to make it a worldwide precense and even then it is still very hard to imagine keeping up with these giant tech companies just on the basic levels that game streaming will require. Microsoft spends, in this past year alone, around four times the total profit Sony made in thei...
Saying Sony knows there Gaikai/Onlive hybrid streaming service doesn't work well on 4G you are assuming without any actual evidence that is why it isn't on phones. And what is the reason it isn't on MacOS? It doesn't work there as well? Or why was it removed from the PS3? And even if 4G is the reason PSNow it is not on mobile devices it is a false assumption when applying it to other gaming streaming systems. It definitely does not mean these other services, with a differen...
Continues to release what on PSNow? With all that they have, not a single game released in the last four years you mentioned is on PSNow. Out of all their exclusives, Sony has put only a couple of first-party PS4 AAA games that are about 5 years old on the service. So, tell me again as long Sony does what again? They haven't been willing to put their own games up on the service, why would we expect even something released in the last few years to be there? You would think that with the d...
OK lets not exaggerate. According to what has sneaked by and started all this rumor mongering the planned hardware update is for late next year which will make it 2 1/2 years when it happens. And from the rumored plans we are not looking at a major changes. Probably akin to a that 3 year update that was the PS4 Slim or Xbox One S update rather than a Pro or X new devices. Probably updated chipset (fix hack issues), battery screen (e.g more efficient, not bigger), etc... all to alleviate is...
@ninsigma
I don't think PSNow sucks but, it isn't great either. Problem is PSNow may work or may not. I have tried it on a good fiber connection and it sucked chocolate balls, my friend had it on 30Mbps and, like you, it worked as expected. The real issue is will PSNow be able to up its game in the actual quality level, it appears from what I have been reading XCloud (and ProjectStream) will be able to handle 1080p and even scale depending on your connection and the game...
Or perhaps this article is more like the calling of whiny liberals of the gaming world. "Oh the sun is too yellow, whine, whine, Trump's fault, must march on Washington", "Oh, I broke my pencil, whine, whine, Tump's fault, those conservatives are all Nazis", "31 games, I am so confused, whine whine, Trump's fault, we need to protest!".
Well, considering Pillar of Eternity games (2015 to 2018) have constantly seen as high or higher Metacritic numbers than PS4 Spider-Man game (Metacritic 87) I would say you have no idea of what you are talking about of the quality of good games Obsidian is making now.
@Highlife
"I know I will get a lot of disagrees but I have facts backing up my claims "
You really need to learn what a fact is. There was nothing factual on what you said. It was all pure conjecture on your part. Very speculative on very little evidence of anything.
"Sony went out of its way to announce before this year's E3 of no new hardware announcement"
Sony didn't go out of its way to say anything. In f...
Ignoring the fact that PSNow was not the first gaming streaming service even though you think it is. Sony's idea of everywhere is essentially only PS4 and PC and removing every other device option from the service. Sony removed every other device PSNow supported.... hmmm,.... like four years ago. Not quite everywhere, more like protect PS4 console then provide a truly universal option (hence removed where it would make sense: PSVita and PS3 for no reason at the time other than protecting...
Seriously do you say the same thing with Netflix, Amazon Prime or the multitude of streaming music services? There are plusses and negatives with any option. Whether that be streaming via a subscription or playing a purchased version. Like any streaming media option that currently exists (even music which has been a streaming option for over 15 years), there is still the option to own rather than subscribe to a service. I don't see that ever changing. Streaming will just be an option, li...
The dock has nothing to do with the graphics power outputted by the Nintendo Switch. It just a piece of plastic with some ports and charging capability. I guess with over $90 price tag people somehow think it is more than that but, it really is not,
Slimmer design? What are they apple? A millimeter here and millimeter there is not the issue. People I believe want better battery life more than a slightly slimmer case (the same thing from Apple but they rather slim things down then give more battery life). A slimmer design would also, more than likely, make all the current joy cons incompatible. So, you would have two different joy-cons on the market only slightly different. One group for the 20.5 million current Switch owners another for ...
@Sono421
You are confusing Forbes with WSJ. WSJ has a pretty good track record with their rumor reporting. Not like they are making an extreme claim of something here either. Yes the WSJ is not always 100% correct but, they have a pretty good history. I can see Nintendo updating the screen (nothing fancy just a more efficient model, battery saving, better construction), updating the chipset to alleviate the hacked system issue, larger internal memory. Nowhere does this rumor say thi...
But didn't Shuhei Yoshida (President of Sony's Worldwide Studios) state after E3 they were going to reveal more exclusive games in the coming months in response to people noting that Sony's conference was a little light on new material. So, when is that promise coming? As of yet that hasn't happened. Many, including myself, assumed it would be PSX.
@PhatomS42 I didn't know Legos was originally a computer product? I do know there was this thing called blocks that has existed for at least 100 years or more before a Lego came around. Heck Lincoln Logs and Errector sets (1912) long predated that ripoff called Legos (1930's). All kidding aside Legos is actually a 100% ripoff of an actual product called Kidcraft blocks (an exact copy of not a sort of looks like but, 100% the same thing - every little detail). Kidcraft was created 1...
Where do you get your numbers? I will at least give some credence to VGchartz who have better handle on the actual industry and therefore numbers sold worldwide than people here,
Sold:
PS4 82.4 million
Xbox One 38.4 million
Switch 20.23 million
38.4 x 3 would mean the PS4 has sold 115.2 million. It may someday but, not quite anywhere near 3 to 1 now. And the Switch has a long way to go before it comes to anywhere near surpassin...
The difference is that the games from Windows (where all these games would be coming from) can easily move over to another Windows 10 based OS (which Xbox is) without worrying about having to rework their whole input / way the game is played. These very same games that work best with keyboard and mouse would have to reworked to run on a completely different OS like Orbis (BSD). That is one of the reasons there aren't many games using these inputs on the PS4. They are still built for PS4...
