I Disagree. Most of what happens on any system is internal to what we see and experience directly. The greatest failure point will be these internal features from which everything else relies on. And the necessary checking on a wider scale, which a beta provides, will lessen that from happening.
Do I wish they took a more proactive approach in adding requested features in this update? Hell yes. But, that doesn't mean there wasn't a lot of changes going on under t...
@angelsx
That sucks. My Pro has been relatively quiet (at least from 6 feet away). I have never experienced that roaring 747 sound on my own machine. I have heard that heavy struggle on a friend's Pro and it is not a pleasant experience (very disconcerting).
@rainslacker
I will recommend the thermal paste to my friend (thanks!). I must say though I am really impressed how quiet my X has been compared to PS4 Pro. You definitely can easily hear the Pro ...

"3 times as many consoles and around 5x as much software"
Fish tales. Numbers always get bigger with you guys. Next it will be 10x as much. Strange that Sony's actual gaming revenue doesn't reflect that twice as many sold consoles and that imaginary five times as much software sales you claim. According to each companys actual financials full gaming revenue for this last year netted over $10.35 billion in gaming revenue for Microsoft. Yo...
@ziggurcat
It was not an accurate prosthetic arm. It may have been modeled after an actual prosthetic arm but the capability (of the item it is based on) is not anywhere close to how it will be used in the game. Ignoring the fact there wasn't anybody with such prosthetics in the war. Movement for those 1940's prosthetics required the other hand to move the prosthetic into place and lock it down. There is very limited motion of the device, limited grab and stability control ev...
The real threat to speech and culture is not getting enough porn?. I doubt a very small segment of "ultra Christian right-wingers" are the most worrisome issue for free speech especially for you getting your precious tentacle porn from Steam. If so, the internet would have died a long time ago, Not as if the net has a scarcity of porn, it litters every orifice of the net and it still has survived the massive onslaught of such "regressive right-wingers"/s . No, the gre...
So, if I by a (digital or physical) game and I for some reason don't install it according to your logic it would prefectly acceptable for Sony to take back ownership of that game from me on that same principle of you snooze you lose clause in their terms. I doubt anybody would stand for that. Because we all agree with the statement "I paid for the game it is mine." If I don't use ever or in two years it still is mine. That also should apply to Sony accepting money for pr...
I swear blame these YouTubers? How about have some self-control? This author and others don't have an answer of how to avoid these videos. I have one. Don't go searching for them. How hard is it to avoid YouTube Spider-Man game videos? "Oh no I see a link I must click it. Must resist. But, I... I... have no control. Arghhh! Damn you YouTube!" Be real. Just don't watch the videos. Why is anybody watching a video about the game? Shouldn't they be playing it? And ...
So, by your logic playing on a PC that is not as capable as the X is a dumb idea too. And that means, according to Steam's most recent numbers, that almost 95% of PC gamers are pretty damn stupid for not having a gaming computer at least as graphically powerful as the X.
Hell no! ! Have you ever actually read the Constitution or the Federalist Papers or actually know anything about the Founding Fathers? If you did you definitely would have not said something as stupid as that. The Founding Fathers would be aghast of what the government they created has become today. The very notion of the government taking so many roles (both state and Federal) would the opposite of what the Founding Fathers believed in.
Considering Disney/Marvel is only getting a licensing percentage I doubt any other deal would be that favorable. And this current game deal ends with this current MCU agreement which is Avengers in May. Sony is going to have to give up something (a lot if they want to continue to use Spider-Man exclusively in games). Don't act like this isn't Disney we are talking about. Disney is a deal maker that wants every penny possible. This current game deal they gave Sony a bite but a ...
What tea leaves are you reading? This was a deal attached to the current MCU deal. That is all it is. When that deal ends, this deal ends. There will be a whole slew of negotiations going forward later this year. This is Disney/Marvel were are talking about not a struggling Marvel of the early 90's that was willing to sell off film rights to keep the lights on. Disney wants every penny they can get. I can guarantee on the table will be that Disney gets Spider-Man back into the Marvel...
Wii-U gets honors for last place. No skippies for Nintendo just because they sucked wind with their Wii-U and quickly replaced it with a new machine. The Switch is their 9th gen machine. Both Sony and Microsoft are currently tied for last (zero sales), well last place until they actually release their 9th gen console in a few years time.
As for Switch vs Xbox, Nintendo still has quite a way to go to catch up with the overall sales (especially considering sales of the dev...
I think if we want more power (instead of getting the laptop CPU/GPU we get now in the PS and Xbox lines) we will have to expect the devices manufacturers spend more on the APU (which is currently a $130 for a $399 MSRP device). Adding an additional 20 to 33% for a console components for a device selling at $449 or $499 MSRP can add a exceedingly large amount of extra power (that extra $50-100 can mean much bigger leap for the APU, more memory, larger drive size) relative to the time. The $...
SSD drive is wishful thinking. I think we can all agree that the next console gen should start around 2TB of storage. A drive in a console runs about $40 to $50 of the overall cost of a production for Sony or Microsoft. In fact, a 3TB drive is already entering that range (not quite yet) but, I could easily that size as the base in a few years time. There is no way in a few years time that SSD drives at that 2TB size will be anywhere near the price they need to be for a $399 console (eve...
" Battlefield 5 and get to play and enjoy it to its full extent without having to pay for the Online component, is a huge plus "
Whoa! Hold your horses there. This is just for a few days for the beta. And the beta is not even the full game but a network test of the game (what a couple maps and a piece of Tides of War story). So, no you will not be able to play the game its full extent. And if that large community of PS players is going to exist after the beta the...
Don't make it out like it is really so much more than everywhere else. 105 billion yuan is a little over 15 billion US dollars. A good some but not some tremendous number for a country over 4 1/4 times the population of the US. China is the biggest gaming market by population not by revenue (you could say that about anything with China because of the population, biggest widget market, biggest dildo market, biggest Twizzlers market) Last year game revenue in the US was over 36 billion ...
I am glad for people that bought a PSVR and are still enjoying it. But, the PSVR has not been a success for Sony. They even stated so at their recent investor's meeting. Three million is way off from their expected numbers at this time. And if you know one thing about companies they try to put the best spin on things towards investors without outright lying (which would be highly illegal). And I doubt there was a massive run on to get PSVR since that investor's meeting in May. So,...
^^^ Sorry, I reread your post assumed you were talking about streaming not disc in the mail Netflix. I shouldn't have assumed that is what you referring to So you can take my statement above with a grain of salt if you were talking about the ship by mail Netflix it just applies to streaming Netflix in comparison to GameFly or similar services.
Massive infrastructure costs. It is just that simple. To do it you really have to be an established player with deep pockets. The cost to do streaming video is much lower (e.g. Netflix) compared to the infrastructure required to do game streaming.
Ironically GameFly does have a game streaming service and the last day it will be active is tomorrow, August 31st, 2018. EA actually acquired from GameFly both the team and technology that created their streaming service
If you had bought 100 shares of Microsoft at the IPO in 1986 at $21 ($2,100 investment) today, after nine stock splits, you would have had 28,800 shares. That 28,800 shares would be worth around 3.23 million dollars. Pretty good.
If you had bought a 100 shares of Apple at its low point in 1996 when it was trading at 0.50 cents/share and after 3 stock splits since that time you would have 2,800 shares valued at $630,000. Not bad for $50 investment.
