Although I agree with you, more options the merrier. Dropping just the 4KBlu-Ray would not get you $100 - $150 price difference from a $499 console. These disc players contribute at most $50 to the build (at least on the Xbox S/X).
Really Reg? The average speed for Japan is actually around the average speed for the US (20.1Mbps vs 19.7Mbps) and Japan the signal is not as stable when compared to the US (stability of the signal is much more important for streaming than having extreme speeds - having higher speeds doesn't matter if you signal qaulity fluctuates too much). The advantage Japan has is their infrastructure for several major cities, where a large percentage of the population lives is really good in certain...
@darthv72
This is exactly how MS planned to handle the no disc required after installing a game bought on disc in their original plans for the Xbox One (before their 180). The same plans also gave you the ability to share a game with friends/family via clicking on the game and sending the share digitally. They just gave you a digital version of the game that you bought on disc after it was installed and tied directly to your account. Of course, now that it was a digital version it re...
Too amazing to be honest. That "leaked internal memo" (you need to put it all in quotes) has the PS5 being released next year in JP & NA (Nov 16th a year from today to be exact and on a Saturday to boot). If you know anything about AMD current status on its upcoming product line capabilities that sounds fishy looking at the specs alone. We will see if this one has any fruit to bear on Feb 5th, 2019 when that set of questionable "leaked documents" says it will be an...
Why would they announce the PS5 in 2019 for 2020 release? That would be a horrible idea. You want to announce far enough to build up excitement, but not too far as to disrupt your current console business too much. Unless you think Sony is going to release a PS5 in Spring and pull Nintendo Switch move it would make no sense announcing at the end of 2019 for a 2020 release in Oct/Nov.
@Skull521 Doing so doesn't reach the same media attention. E.g. Sony announced PS4 4 months early in 2013 at their own event but, other than people that pay close attention to gaming (like most here) a large percentage never heard about it until E3 (at least most of the mainstream didn't follow that early announcement). Games as well. It is just the case that E3 is what the mainstream follows not some special show made by Sony or Microsoft or Nintendo. Yeah, the tech sites get in...
Hold your horses. The same day that it came to light that Sony was not going to be at E3 2019 Reggie announced Nintendo will definitely be part of E3 this year. So it turns out Microsoft won't be so lonely at E3 this year after all.
I gave up reading Metacritic (at least users, or so-called players thoughts and scores). We all know that the large majority of these negative votes and reviews never touched the game (and that includes the beta). This is more of a hissy-fit, whiner bomb than an actual review bomb. I agree with you (for personal player reviews) I do go to Amazon or if buying from Xbox their console store. At least those places they have a verified buyer stamp on them so I know those gamers have at least mad...
His point is they are taking an emulator they didn't build. It is open source emulator, the same PCSX we can all use by downloading it to a PC. In the PS Classic case, Sony is using the ARM version of the emulator ( PCSX ReArmed) It doesn't matter who inspired what. Sony itself wasn't inspired enough to have their own developers do the work themselves (so cash grab). All they did was put together some cheap hardware (can't cost more than $20 bucks build cost) and charge you ...
"And yet the Switch is dominating the Xbox 1x."
Not as a console but as a portable device sure I will give you that carrying around an X and playing it not ideal and the Switch is a better option to do so but, with the sacrifices that come with such a move. The experience of a console the X is the domineering force with Pro not far behind. But, if you want to be technical on dominating gaming then the iPhone dominates the Switch as a portable gam...
You are right. Except for the 90 million user base. Please stop making up numbers that don't exist yet. Not that the user base won't' be close to 90 by the end of the fiscal year (April 2019) but, you lose points in an argument with false data thrown out there. The last number is 86 million and that is actually total shipped number, not total sold number. Shipped as in total user base + all the console boxes sitting warehouses and store shelves around the world that have yet to ...
There is no need to maintain GP. You can quit GP subscription at any time and come back later if you wish and pick right back up with the game. And that is exactly what I did last month with the release of FH4 I came back to GP and I started to play SOT again as well after taking several months off.
This is not some single player game where you are done in 15-20 hours. And if by chance you come back to that same single player game months later...
Microsoft has a bigger picture of where the world is heading more than people who worship one plastic box over another. Now I know this PC version of SO isn't a PlayAnywhere game but, PlayAnywhere path is how MS is treating all their exclusive game releases now. To that fact, the future is removing as much of these device borders as possible. What is more consumer friendly than allowing you to play the games you have access to from any supported Microsoft's ecosystem (Windows) devic...
@Stamjara
Most of those items you listed already exist in the Xbox store but, the Xbox Store also has features the PS Store does not have. Each company has different things the other is missing. E.g. how is the ability easily to return digital games working out for PS store purchases or the ability for gifting a purchase. What! PS store doesn't allow digital returns (unless by law and then by lots hoops to jump through) and there is no ability to just click and send a gift of...
Smallest user base? The switch is still down 19 million form Xbox One's numbers. And if we are going to be fair the Switch is a gen 9 not a gen 8 for Nintendo. Nintendos' gen 8 was the WiiU. Sorry, no do-overs if your gen 8 sucks as bad as WiiU did. But I guess that makes Switch the current winner, with no one else playing yet, in gen 9. So, Nintendo has that going for it. Wait... what is that I hear... Oh yes, it is the another Mario game coming... What is that 8 Mario related ga...
But those screens are not touch-enabled are they? Completely different cost point. And this idea that it is cheap still means, even if the touchscreen only adds $15 build cost (or even $10), that it takes away from the build cost of something else. And the screen is just one point of cost of adding something like this to a controller. For example, adding this type of screen means the need for a more powerful battery to supply more juice. Unless you want even crappier battery life then the PS4...
You must have missed Booty's statement about games already in the pipeline ("coming out soon, they have things in the works" were his words (eg. Wasteland 3) To me, that implies that games will be coming out from more than one of these developers long before you think they will. Beyond Gears 5, Ori, Crackdown arriving in 2019 expect a few additional games from these developers within this next year. Other than The Initiative (being built from...
