>> 90% of PC monitors are below 24".
You making up numbers? I also hear that 90% of PC printers are dot matrix. This isn't the early 2000's. The only way you get something below 24" is if you include laptops, tablets and phones to get to that 90% number. There is no way 90% of monitors that people play games on are below 24".
And sure 720p on a 6" phone screen or even a 10" tablet screen is not a problem. I agree 1080p or h...
You know what all this reminds me of? That group of Xbox fanboys who early on said the Xbox One had an additional CPU or chip they were going to turn on (they even had proof with the unknown chip on the board layout ,so they thought). This is that but with PS fanboys saying Sony has some secret sauce that like that Xbox chip that will never arrive.
You mean how the senior VP of Sony World Wide Studios Europe left this week for TT Games after 25 years at Sony. That type of story? Hardly saw any one take any notice. Definitely no "Sony's first party studios are doomed" from us Xbots. But, a guy leaves one division to another within the same company and the Pony prognosticators come out of the woodwork to tells the MS world is in dire straights. Bill moves around a lot. He is a guy that likes to do new things. He went from ...
You are wrong. The world does not revolve around games. Get out of your little box The potential for is AR huge. VR will always be niche within a niche. It is a much more limited technology then AR.
And when xCloud and hopefully an updated PSNow stream it will be an option in addition to local play. That is what I want an option. Especially for streaming to mobile (where 720p is more than adequate) not this Stadia idea of replacing of local play that is obviously, as you noted, a worse experience and no where near that 4K promise or even half that resolution. How many times has the X outshined Stadia just on the fidelity alone with these games?
Not to prop up Stadia. But, I would really like both Sony and Microsoft to implement that one feature I thought was killer on Stadia and that was Crowd Play. In fact, certain features (like Crowd Play) would be great if MS and Sony worked together to make them work across platforms.
This particular Sony patent seems more generic skip to section type of function. Will it be implemented is a wait and see.
"I often wished that I didn’t have to play this game at this particular moment in history."
Then don't play it. Don't review it or have some one else at venturebeat do it. Get a real job pansy boy!
Heard about this? Maybe Sony is mimicking Xbox here. Xbox One (this gen) already has very powerful separate programmable audio chip. So, you might want to get to know things you are talking about. Microsoft has also had Windows Sonic (environment spatial audio) for quite some time. Xbox next-gen audio chip is an extension of their already established work. I swear people think Sony events everything (e.g. actually think Blu-Ray was all Sony - I here that one all the time).
Yes I am sure Sony be OK if a company copied Ratchet & Clank, UC, or HZD on Nintendo Switch, PC, or Xbox, etc.../s Sony's IP protection is littered with dead bodies of people doing similar things. Whether that be games. music or video Sony is pretty proactive (as any company should be) on protecting IP.
And these people are not being creative at all. They are just taking someone else's creativity and cloning it.
@lodossrage
He is both right and wrong. The blog post only mentions they are int the process of testing 100's and will work to adding more. there was not we will have the majority of PS4 BC games ready by release in this blog post. They did writing gymnastics in this blog post. They said very little but reiterated they will be adding more as time goes on. What is more? What does time mean? May be different from what we all expect then what they want to tell us? What is the sche...
They as in all (not even close) or they as in the same couple of indie developers who you all were relying on when they said the GPU/CPU power edge was in Sony's court these past many months. Weren't they in the know back then as well? How that work out for you?
SSD drive difference is Cerny's double packed math for this gen. Ahh... memories... You all whooping it up as if was going to give the Pro double the teraflops - strange how Cerny and you all thought ...
The piss poor is Sony's messaging. Both Cerny and the actual PS blog post pretty much say exactly what BI says. If you are going to blame somebody you have to call out Sony for causing the issue. And BI is not alone. This is being reported the same way by multiple news outlets and blogs. It has been over two work days since this question about what Cerny state during the reveal and the PS blog really meant and as of yet have not cleare it up.
How? By the implication "MS might get something right" means they never get anything right. Which is patently false by any measurement other then by entrenched, and scared little PS fanboys like yourself and Enigma313.
Except that the PS5 being true 10.28TF console is a PR myth. Fooling you and many others apparently The vast majority of time that variable frequency GPU will be running at 1.9GHz or possibly 2GHz and nowhere near 2.33GHz. 2.33GHz is just not sustainable for very long. If it were sustainable they would have made the console constantly running at 2.33GHz and you could call it 10.28TF. And in this case it probably was a quick fix to save face that the competition was at 12TF and in turn for f...
You need to learn how CPUs and GPUs (in this case APUs) are made and how that cost is realized. I highly doubt looking at the specs for each APU that at the end of the day you are looking at drastic price differential.
First. you are not paying for each APU your cost is the yield on the wafer you paid for. The tech was paid for in the development process not in the chip making process. Which some people think is what is going on. Both Sony and Microsoft pay for the same wa...
And we have PS fanboys and girls saying Sony invented Navi with AMD and it is exclusive to PS. And the next PS5 was going to be 13.5 TF and 32GB with HBM2. And how wrong that GitHub leak was when in reality it was more correct (spot on) than anything by insiders. And what happened to all those insiders calling that systems were equal. with the edge to Sony. Lots of those "insiders" PS fanboys propped up as proof are not showing their faces anymore in forums and chats. How abou...
@jbull
Are you concerned that the over 90% of the games sold are multi-plat and most that will still be supporting the 100+ million PS4s and the PS5 at the same time? Better stop buying those games as well. Obviously they will be crap. Just think about that. All you have to look forward if Sony follows it own first year history of this gen mainly games that look like they could have been made available for previous without much work and all those redos, remasters, and double dip ...
I am sorry but this is not the same thing. We are talking x86 to x86 architectures not Power PC or Cell to x86. The later PS3 or 360 to x86 I would understand it taking more work and more time. But, the former, sorry no excuses this late in the game to say almost all the top 100 games work. "almost" ? They may have more games day of release. So! They should have everything that is this gen able to run on the same base x86 architecture of next-gen. Microsoft seems to be able to d...
@StoneyYoshi
Yet the PS3 the released a year later had a weaker GPU and only overtook the Xbox 360 by a few thousand 12 months after 360 stopped being produced and sold (released a year earlier but stopped selling before; so that year early argument is only good argument if the PS3 actually stopped selling at the same time as the X360 not almost 2 years later racking up more sales). Also, considering that Japan as a force to prop up Sony sales numbers dramatically (10.2 million PS...
But it isn't 10TF. It is 9TF. This 10TF is what they call boost. In other words it wont be 10TF for any long period but 9TF for most game play. Normally you would just move up permanently by overclocking like Microsoft did at the last minute to up their weaker GPU this gen. Sony probably didn't have the room to sustain 10TF in any way so opted for a short burst of speed. Believe me it is a total lie to even call this machine 10TF. In fact I bet now the yields for chips are similar...
