Gaming can contribute as an anti-stressor. Regardless of what anyone would say, when you're gaming you're thinking about just one thing - kicking the crap out of whatever's on the screen. That's why that "pause" works - because no matter what problems you might have, gaming can, if even for a handful of minutes, pry your mind away from problems. They'll exist after, of course. But its those couple of minutes that can sometimes count.

Great article.

But, the problem with Sony isn't that they're not marketing. It's that they're not marketing enough. Just like you said, had Sony gone with a KZ2 commercial it would have used ALL of its marketing money - all 4 million dollars of it. My problem is that when you market something extensively (like Microsoft going 30+ million on Halo 3) it gets attention from just about everyone. $4 mil compared to $30 mil is a big difference. And it's not like Sony doesn't have the cash to spend.

I don't know what Sony's smoking, but that whole "you need to pre-order to get the demo" thing was pretty stupid on their end. The point of a demo is to allow the person to TRY the game out BEFORE they buy it. Not to say that you won't get your money back if the game sucks monkey balls. I hope they change that crap.

but, let's be honest here, the price cut isn't the problem. Yes, it is an expensive console, without a doubt. The thing has sold 21.3 million consoles worldwide as of December 2008 with its current pricepoint (more than the 360 in the same timespan); I highly doubt that pricing is the factor right now.

The problem is that if people don't see or know what they're buying and why they're buying it, they just aren't going to buy it. In order to make ANY profit they need to hav...

Not too much. The point of advertising is not only to attract current PS3 owners to buying Game X. It's to attract POTENTIAL buyers. Sony, regardless of how you blindly want to see it, doesn't advertise their products well at all. The reason the PS3 is selling like it is is because of word of mouth and subpar ads. Gamers are the ones advertising it on websites like this. You can argue it all you want, bud, but anyone in the business world would tell you that marketing is key to the succe...

The PS3 is a solid system not being given the attetion that its supposed to receive from Sony's marketing team. Yea it's selling pretty well, but let's imagine for one second how that can change with proper adverstising. A lot of their games didn't sell as well as they SHOULD have because of the same dilemma.

because it's pointless debates ruining the validility of news and entertainment. Constant "Console X is doomed" articles have been contributing to nothing more than petty arguments and nonsensical discussions. Why not write about something less bias and more in the middle?

Each console brings their strengths and weaknesses to the table. Nowadays, however, a large percent of the games made are on both consoles. The same games are being argued over because of cons...

No one really mentioned a party system for the MP? There's no online game atm that I would say has a more intense and, overall, entertaining experience as Killzone 2. However, I was pretty disappointed to see that GG didn't put in some sort of party system to have friends join the same rooms. Do you know how aggrivating it gets joining having to join a room and then not having a friend being able to join because the room filled up so quick? Argh.

For some reason, not just because it's the Show, but for baseball games, the DualShock 3 seems a bit more natural compared to the 360's controller. Although, I will say, that the 360's remote is a bit more "comfortable" and feels better for games like Madden and FPS's.

Great review indeed. The Show is definitely the game to have if you're a fan of baseball/baseball games. Graphics are awesome, controls are awesome. I'm picking this baby up on Wednesday; I'm hearin...

I just think HipHopGamer just does it for kicks. There's nothing funnier to him than having a mob of angry gamers cursing him to oblivion.

Why? Kane & Lynch is a series that needs to be sequeled (I just invented a word). These guys are more like a fake-a$$ Dominique Rodriguez and Marcus Fenix, imo.

that they relied WAY too much on their flagship titles. Rather than working off of their other exclusive titles (i.e. Xenogears - best game ever -, Parasite Eve, Brave Fencer Musashi, Vagrant Story, etc.) - which all had enough room for growth in both story and graphics - they decided to focus their attention on a series that is becoming more of a name than a legacy. It's sad to see that these games mentioned, especially Xenogears and Vagrant Story, weren't taken seriously in further develo...

"The Sony", as you called them, develops great first party exclusives. The Show is not an exception to that list. With solid gameplay mechanics, and an all around beautiful presentation, the Show is the way to go, bro. *rhyme intentionally done* Man, I feel old. Now I'm sitting here thinking about the MLB series. Jesus, remember MLB '97? Where you could catch homeruns regardless of its distance or height? Timing was key. /me runs and looks for MLB '97!

is what seperates the boys from the men. I'm not implying in any way that 2K9 sucks monkey nuts. But, overall, if you want a better "baseball simulator", the Show is going to give it better, hands down. Character model in the show could be a LITTLE bit better (still better than 2K9); but the game kicks arse nonetheless.

Personally, I think the Show looks and plays a bit better than 2k9. I used to be a big fan of the MLB2K9 series until the Show came along. Graphics are good on both ends; The Show, however, plays a bit better, imo.

Firefox has become WAY too bloated of a software now. I used to be a big fan until its memory footprints began to increase with almost every release. I'd have to say that, for software with as much integration, Opera is probably the best browser out there right now. Chrome is going to, eventually, top the mark - but Opera has been on my Mac(although the new Safari is pretty sleek)/Windows/Linux systems for over two months now with exceptional performance and configuration capabilities. I ...

Might seem like that to us, but, realistically, it's called ingenuity. Yes Sony has made failed products like BetaMax and Diskmans, but let's look at the stuff they DID bring to the forefront: the camcorder, Compact Disc (CD - with Panasonic), the Personal stereo system in 1982, videocassette recorder in 1969 and, of course, Blu-ray. Let's not forget that they are one of the first companies to implement OLED technolgy into their consumer products.

I wouldn't consider it poor ...

The sad thing about stories like this is that they never get noticed because of flamebait writing. You know, things like "PS3 losing the next-gen battle" and the what-not. It goes to show what some people consider "honest" writing.

hehe. Just to show that gaming could be used as a means of positive influence.

6308d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

It's things like this that the media doesn't cover - the idea that gaming can be used in positive ways. Rather, they indulge themselves in constantly trying their hardest to label gaming as a misleading, violent form of entertainment.
