i love how in that whole article, there are really only 3 actual in-game screenshots - the first 2 killzone 2 shots (the third KZ2 shot is from the infamous 'target render') and the first god of war 3 shot. the rest are all cutscenes and supersamples.
the funny thing is, if youre sitting less than 6 feet away from the tv then you either have:
A) a very small tv
or
B) a high probability that youre damaging your eyes by sitting so close.
6 feet is only 2 metres remember. thats barely anything. as it is i sit probably 8 feet away from my TV.
armor lock has become one of my weapons of choice in Reach now, since people dont seem to be smart enough to figure out how to kill me when im using it lol.
its so simple - wait for them to almost run out of it, throw some grenades, get the trigger finger ready - but people just dont seem to understand that. they also dont seem to understand that when i come out of armor lock, it creates an EMP that removes their shields, meaning i only have to melee them once and theyre dead...
to be honest, any game that uses the 'floating' reticule for aiming/turning with Move will not work well. they need to lock the reticule in the centre of the screen ala every other FPS game apart from Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, and you just move that around using Move.
the way it is you cant turn one direction while aiming anywhere other than to that side of the screen. thats a fail. then you get the problems of aiming somewhere just off to the edge of the screen, th...
umm you could play the forza demo sitting down, as it has nothing to do with your legs. you dont control accelerating or braking, just steering. why would you need to stand up to steer?
do i want to play forza with kinect steering? nope.
do i think it would be a good OPTION to have in forza? definitely. i know id be much happier letting my cousins/nephews/nieces/etc have a muck around with Forza like that rather than use my expensive little steering wheel/pedal setup....
@claterz: "it doesn't matter how old someone is, they can still get hold of the old systems and all the top games."
sure, they CAN - but the very very very large majority of them NEVER do. and with the idiotic nature of the 'gamers' these days, theyd pass on a classic game like say Goldeneye purely because its not 720p with MLAA and 60 player online. theyd rubbish Syphon Filter because its got pixely graphics and doesnt have Uncharted 2s cutscenes. theyd...
even though its VGChartz, who should NEVER be taken seriously or as fact, if the real numbers are around that figure its disappointing for Sony IMO. a few reasons:
- 300 000 includes the bundle, and individual move controllers. wanna play a game that requires 2 move controllers? bundle + 1 controller = 1 customer, but 2 sales. wanna play 2 players with games that require 2 move controllers? bundle + 3 controllers = 1 customer, but 4 sales. all of a sudden its a slippery slope...
the only thing thats really 'fail' IMO so far with Reach is the betrayal system.
much like the articles author, its happened to me a few times where im doing whats best for the team - or its a genuine mistake that is the OTHER players fault - and yet ive been booted.
example: just last night i was playing a Slayer match. i was first in our team score wise by a country mile - i had about 17 kills, next highest was about 6. we were up 30 something to ab...
lol at some people not understanding that 'iron sights' would make no difference in Halo because of the way its designed.
in real life, looking down the sight of the gun doesnt zoom in like it does in games like COD/MAG/BFBC - all it does is steady your aim and help you aim at what you want to.
in Halo pretty much all of the guns are remarkably accurate firing from the hip - you are a super soldier remember. this negates the need to 'improve'...
@moparful99: "Seriously the xmb is neat, organized, "
i disagree, i think the XMB is cluttered and unorganised. theres like 4 links to the PSStore, and there are unnecessary options in nearly every category.
the XMB needs an overhaul, a trimming down - especially the in-game version of it.
"Whats also great is I can take any picture stored to my hard drive and make it my background."
you can do that on the...
lol at the 4 disagrees without so much as a reply. obviously never played Halo 3.
if Uncharted 2 is the best game thats ever been on a Playstation, the last 15 years mustve been pretty rubbish.
there are many PS games better than Uncharted 2, and dozens of PS2 games that are better. the problem is that most of the PS3 fanboys werent old enough to have played them. to really appreciate the original PS games, youd have to be at least 25 years old NOW, and the majority of fanboys are only about 13-18. meaning the PS2 was their first console, and they probably...
lonix, i dont understand what youre getting at RE:iPod?
the 360 actually has iPod support, unlike the PS3. if you connect your ipod, it actually comes up 'johns ipod' when choosing a video/music/photo source in your library. you can then browse your music by artist, album, song, playlist, etc, just like you do from your ipod.
compare that to the PS3s support of 'press triangle to view everything, then sort through dozens of randomly named folders...
its not supposed to be significantly different though, unless you have kinect, thats the thing.
the main difference is in the speed of navigation. they just changed the visuals a bit, but the real thing thats got me excited is the speed at which the in-game guide now operates.
and even if it was only a graphical update, its better than what sony usually provide with their firmware updates. ooh great, i got a new colour to go behind my name in the friends list...
Halo 3 has the best water ive seen to date in a console game.
what sets it apart from other games with great water - like Uncharted, Baldurs Gate, Bioshock, etc - is that its interactive with EVERYTHING.
- throw a grenade in the water? itll dip down in when it hits the surface, then float back up to the top - all while going with the current if there is one, before it explodes.
- just stand in the water? if theres a current, the water level...
that would be an Australian EB Ad.
you might think $699 is waaaaaaaaaaaay too expensive, but you have to remember that the PS3 was RRP $999 here on launch.
we pay more because we earn more and have a smaller population here in australia. while $699 might be twice what you pay, it might cost 2 weeks pay for you in Job X, it only costs us 1 week pay in the same Job X.
they work for sony exclusively, theyre just doing the typical Sony PR. take it with a grain of salt. nothing about Infamous 1 or 2 could not be done on the 360.
i brought it up because just posting some stats mean nothing when you dont have anything to compare them to. if GT5 comes out and sells 4 million, people would be like 'wow thats such good sales!'. but when you compare them to sales of previous games in the series, 4 million is absolutely dreadful.
likewise with these Uncharted 2 online stats. sure, 125m+ games sounds like a hell of a lot - but when Reach does over half of that 12 month figure in a single week, that 1...
thats pretty poor to be honest.
Halo Reachs figures for the first WEEK of release:
70 Million+ Games have been played
235 Million+ Player-Games have been played
2 Million+ Files have been uploaded to File Shares
5,901 man-years have been spent in online Reach games (sorry, Corporate America!)
20 Million Daily challenges have been completed
709,840 Weekly challenges have been completed
165 Billion Credits have be...
Lol at your physics statement.
Uncharted 2 uses an off the shelf physics engine - havok. The exact same physics engine is used by dozens of other games on both the ps3 and 360. In fact halo 3 uses the exact same physics engine.
Gears 2 has high res textures.
Gears 2 is 720p/30fps.
Gears 2 has SSAO.
Gears 2 has real time physics.
Gears 2 has dynamic lighting.
