if theres one game that most certainly does NOT need dedicated servers its Halo.
im yet to see any lag in Halo Reach, its matchmaking is pure brilliance. it even gives you the option - which i happily take - to find a match based on best available connection.
Dedicated Servers do not equal no lag. they just mean that no single person has an advantage due to being the host. quite frankly i prefer Peer-To-Peer with the appropriate matchmaking features like reg...
@SuperM: "Bungie isnt doing 720p because they decided to render their image twice for better lightning effects? Doesnt seem like that worked out for them, because halo 3 looks bad, and telling me what they did to make it that bad isnt going to make it look better. "
the HDR lighting in Halo 3 is still probably the best HDR lighting in any game on these consoles. its absolutely beautiful to look at. with the 360s hardware upscaling, you wouldnt even be able to tell t...
they must be telling lies, because there are no games that use dedicated servers on the 360, right PS3 fanboys? xbox live doesnt support dedicated servers, right?
living in Australia, the use of dedicated servers actually has me worried about lag now. i do like how they mention that it will switch to peer to peer if a dedicated server cant be found. i just hope they give you an option of searching for peer-to-peer local matches, as that will result in better lag for me than c...
"7 of those games are exclusives,"
how does that matter at all? theyre not from Japan, and theyre up there with the best games of the generation.
"All kinect does is track his arms. show me a full body, 1:1 motion tracking, with head, feet, joints and fingers all being tracked at the same time without any lag in that same room."
watch the other videos, you see full body 1:1 tracking in the fitness game. kinect doesnt track fingers though, never said it would.
thats not true though.
GTA? not japan.
Red Dead? not japan.
Gears of War? not japan.

sure some of them are FPS, but theyre also some of the gaming populations favourite franchises.

if only japan actually mattered in the video game world anymore, sony would be in a great place.
japan is fast becoming completely irrelevant in the video game world though. outside of japan their style of games just dont sell anymore. people have moved on but Japanese developers have refused to. at least they are starting to acknowledge the fact that they need to get with the times, and are trying to 'western-ize' their games. its looking like too little too late tho...
i much prefer Killzone 1 to Killzone 2 to be honest. it had 'weighty' controls without the input lag. it had variety. it had better level design. its story was better. i loved playing as the different characters too.
but having said all that, it was technically a pretty bad game overall. probably a 6.5-7/10 in my books. that didnt stop me enjoying the hell out of it though. the worst thing about it, worse than all the annoying graphical glitches (of which there were m...
i love how all the PS3 folk specifically say 'on one blu-ray disc'......when was the last time a PS3 game was released at retail on anything other than a blu-ray disc?
thats one sure fire way to pick a fanboy in my experience on here.
oh and btw, both L4D and L4D2 would probably fit on a single DVD lol. theyre tiny games, like 3-4gb each.
"I see what your saying but that only works in 1v1 battles. "
not if you know what youre doing. last night i went 18-1 with armour lock in team slayer, on more than one occasion getting 2-3 kills in 2-3 on 1 situations. people seem to forget that you dont have to use the whole armour lock in 1 go. you can melee someone, armour lock, shoot them, armour lock, melee again, armour lock......its all about knowing when and how long to use it.
i even use i...
2 years ago all the PS3 brigade on here didnt want Left 4 Dead, it was a rubbish game thats no fun and they were glad it wasnt on PS3.
we'll see if they stick to their guns if it does come to the PS3 lol. theres a first time for everything i suppose....
being a PS3 and 360 owner i dont care what happens, ive already got L4D (skipped on L4D2 though, seeing as though here in Australia we got the kiddy version with no blood and bodies that disappear literal...
do you even know what custom soundtracks are?
while youre playing any 360 game you can pull up the guide, select music from a USB device or computer on your network, and have that music actually replace the in-game music. you still get the sound effects over the top, you still get the music volume raising lowering as it would with the standard soundtrack of the game - only its your music.
thats custom soundtracks, and only a very very select few PS3 games sup...
tl;dr version: i didnt say PS3 exclusives are bad, just that fanboys overhype them.
full version:
the only games i own on my PS3 are exclusives lol.
Killzone 2, Uncharted, Uncharted 2, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid 4, etc. i do all my multi-platform game playing on my 360, the PS3 is reserved for PlayTV and exclusives.
if youd actually read what i said in my original post, i wasnt saying that the PS3 exclusives are bad. i said t...
really though, do you disagree with saying that all major PS3 games are overhyped?
i certainly think they are. even if the game is great, its usually been overhyped for months and months by the rabid fanboys, especially on N4G. its all 'Killzone 2 has better graphics than Crysis on PC on High Settings' or 'God of War 3 is 25 hours of gameplay and uses 2456x MLAA' or 'MGS4 has better writing, directing and acting than *insert best Hollywood movie of all tim...
because sony dont make it a standard OS feature.
why dont developers do custom soundtracks on the PS3? because it requires them to do extra work. on the 360 it doesnt require a single more line of code, the Operating System takes care of it all.
the main reason developers dont do these things is because they have to dedicate time and resources to it, and its not a major feature so they dont think its worth it. if sony did the work for them before the console ...
the epilogue in Halo Reach.
wow. just wow. not for being an awesome level design, or an awesome set piece or anything like that, but the impact that it has on you after youve seen the 'ending' of the game. it was incredible. even just the name of the mission and the mission objective gave me a shiver.
ahhh people just dont get it RE:Prices.
when ANY new technology comes out they are expensive. when they get mass produced, they get cheap.
companies dont just jump straight to cheap huge screens. they make small ones, so they can get it all working, and theyre expensive because theyre one-offs. then when they know the technology is right, they increase size and increase production. then the prices come down.
5 years ago a 40" Bravia cost...
@thewhoopimen:
"For large destructive environments such as building, train, etc Naughty Dog came up with their own Physics engine that modeled collision interactions. (you can find this info on one of their many interviews)"
correct, you can find it in one of the interviews. what you can also find, that you fail to mention, is that for those large environmental physics, they calculate it, render it, then script those physics into the game. they are ...
BFBC2 has the best sniping in any current game by far. i absolutely love it, shooting, reloading, then seeing the X come up on the screen a second later along with the headshot kill notification, after shooting at a guy halfway across the map. probably the most satisfying feeling you can get in an online shooter IMO.
