@kaveti6616: "It should just be remade with unique assets in a more closed-off environment because the visuals take a major hit since it's being rendered in a very large sandbox."
lol
the graphics dont take a hit because its in a large sandbox - the halo reach engine is made to be the same quality of graphics regardless of the levels being tiny or huge. texture resolution is the same on something up close if youre in a 2x2 level or a 200x200 lev...
@MrAnonymous: "no clue why i got so many disagrees...halo reach 2 is a plausible upcoming game"
not really. Halo Reach finishes just as Halo 1 begins. theres no room for another game in there. that cutscene that youre talking about (the helmet on the grassy hill at the end where they talk about rebuilding etc) is actually AFTER halo 3s events. its was only because of what Noble 6 did in Reach that Master Chief even got off the planet, and that they found the Halos e...
its need for speed...........dont play need for speed if you dont want to play an arcade racer. you dont play madden and then complain when you dont get penalised for touching the ball with your hands like you do in soccer.
i agree with gamespot, need for speed was the best racing game this year IMO. GT5 has too many problems and let-downs to be the best game, and its also far from accessible to the average video game player. NFS can be picked up and played by anyone.
to all the people saying 'ive played it on my PS3 setup and it looks much better than these pictures, LOT are liars' - have you ever stopped to think that maybe if you also played the 360 version on your setup it would look even better AGAIN? without comparing BOTH the 360 and PS3 versions on your own setup, you cant say LOT are telling lies and making the PS3 version look worse just because thats not what it looks like on your TV.
remember, every TV will give a diffe...
100% agree, DarkSniper is definitely a paid Sony representative, which is just sad. who else would write things like:
"PlayStation®3 Home Entertainment Terminal"
"PlayStation®3 blends the line between theater and gaming to an unseen height that has never been experienced"
"If you want a true motion control experience, look no further than PlayStation® Move."
as soon as they start p...
yes, i am a software engineer.
we update our software constantly - thats what 90% of our time is spent doing, making updates and improvements. but before we ship our product, we make sure that everything that was promised is there and that it all works as it should. like i said, if we released our product and then had to patch it with over 1gb of patches within 3 weeks, we would lose so many clients it wouldnt be funny. its our job to make sure that we deliver a quality produ...
while its a nice patch, i still would prefer developers didnt release shoddy unfinished games.
you dont congratulate someone for releasing a half finished product and then gradually fixing it! you congratulate someone for releasing a finished product and then supporting it. you criticise someone for releasing a half finished product and then gradually fixing it, as if they did their job properly in the first place they wouldnt have released a half finished product.

@DigitalAnalog: "They DO have mechanical damage before the update. It apparantly builds up the more you crash yourself in races"
thats not what im talking about though, im talking about you smash your front drivers side into a wall and it screws up your steering because you wrecked the wheel etc. it does NOT have that. all it has is some lame 'chassis/engine damage' that basically just means once you drive the car, you can pay 50% of your cars value to fix i...
"its better to be good in every region of the world, than excellent in one and not so good in others"
well yes and no.
in the video game world there are 3 main regions that get talked about - North America, Europe, and Japan. North America and Europe are the 2 main regions, accounting for probably 90% of console sales. Japan makes up a portion of the remaining 10%, but not all of it.
North America is the most important market, as it...
lol
catch of the day is a bargain hunting website - they had a PS3 with Move starter pack for $300 just the other day. that doesnt mean that PS3s are now $300, just that this bargain website sold some for that much as a deal.
"you are going to be called out"
fantastic, but nothing i said is incorrect. Uncharted 2 was down to $39 in stores within 2 months of release. hell, they even gave it away with the purchase of a DS3 controller ...
the IGN review was not wrong, as when they reviewed it it had NO mechanical damage whatsoever. for those who buy the game from the shops and dont update it online, they get no mechanical damage.
and theres still no mechanical damage in GT Life mode.
its a good patch, but instead of congratulating PD and jizzing myself like the rest of you, im still pissed that they released a game that has required over 1gb of patching to start fixing within a month of releas...
@fr0sty: "it is a bit disappointing to see that kinect can't do much better than pseye did with kung fu live at removing the background behind you."
mate this is a hack that some guys have made without xbox dev kits or anything like that. do you really think that microsofts SDK doesnt do it any better?
in case you think it doesnt, heres a video to show you just how well Kinect can actually do it when in the right hands.

its an official playstation magazine, of course its going to give one of the playstations big exclusives 10/10 lol.
not saying that LBP2 wont be a great game, im sure if you loved LBP youll love LBP2 - but take this review with a grain of salt, the same way all the PS3 fanboys will take the inevitable Gears of War 3 OXM 10/10 review.
personally i was incredibly excited about LBP, bought it, but quickly got over it when i found that i had no interest in spendi...
7/10 isnt a disappointing score for a game like this.
is it graphically fantastic? no, its very plain and basic.
does it have great audio? nope.
longevity? sounds like its got a fair bit.
fun? well thats the bit thats subjective. this reviewer got pretty bored by just waggling around until he got through a level, as would I.
it was never going to be a 10/10 game because its kinda like reviewing a game like sudoku. some people absolutel...
RDR looks horrible *on the PS3*. on the 360 though, it looks marvellous.
remember, the PS3 got the lower resolution + quincunx vaseline smeared version of RDR. the 360 got the 720p MSAA version, and it looks great.
@MAKF11: great post. bubbles to you.
@dalibor: bias exists on SOME sites - you can NEVER trust the reviews from sites with Sony/playstation in the name: theyre fanboy sites, like sonydefenceforce, sony-this, sony-that, play-this, play-that. same goes for ones with xbox in them.
but to suggest that pretty much the entire industry is biased against sony, like how the GT5 fanboys think its some giant conspiracy to make people hate GT5, is stupid. they all bash I...
you guys do realise that the VGA winners are chosen based on online polling, dont you? its just a 'who has the most fanboys?' contest, and that crown goes to Sony.
the VGAs mean nothing, theyre just a popularity contest. this was clearly evident last year when Uncharted 2 won game of the year, but failed to win its category, losing out to Assassins Creed. the fanboys just flocked to the 'game of the year' voting and spammed it, forgetting that it was up for th...
@bishop-br:
GT5 has 2 different LOD car models of each premium too. every GT game has done this, starting right back with GT1 on the PS. youre absolutely kidding yourself if you think that the model you see in photo travel mode is the same model as the one you control when racing. anyone with eyes that work can see theyre different models.
also, i like how youre just making up numbers of how many polygons each car model has in forza lol. when Forza 3 was firs...
"We get a try-hard, Call Of Duty-wanabee instead! "
what about that trailer is Call of Duty like? i dont remember doing tricks on a snowboard in Call of Duty?
i swear, some of you guys have no idea.
sony buying the manufacturing plant means NOTHING for the PS4 - they dont do research and development to create new chips at manufacturing plants lol. IBM scrapped DEVELOPMENT on the Cell CPU - its not going any further than it is currently. it wont be used in the PS4.
Sony can buy the MANUFACTURING plant and make as many Cell chips as they want - but they wont be any more powerful than the one thats in the PS3. and if ...
