in Australia on November 1 they launched Foxtel - our main pay tv service - through XBox Live, at $20 a month for the basic package. pretty much this same package will set you back $40 a month through the normal Foxtel method, so its a good deal.
i got it to see how it goes, as theres no contract or anything, you just pay the $20 a month until you tell it to stop via the website, and i must say its pretty darn impressive. maybe 5-10 seconds of buffering between channel change...
anyone else see the extreme hypocrisy in some of this guys quotes?
"Another issue is resolution; it's a 320x240 camera as far as I've heard and the out-to is 640x480 so neither of those are particularly hot resolutions but you can take what you can get. I mean, a lot of webcams now are 720p, etc."
and what resolution does your PSEye run at buddy? oh right, 640x480 or 320x240 lol. so youre badmouthing Kinect for using those resolutions AT THE...
theyve been doing this in Australia for months, recently adding GT5 into the mix.
seems to me its just another way to artificially inflate their PS3/GT5 sales number. GT games in the past were helped ENORMOUSLY by being packed in with EVERY playstation 1/2 sold worldwide for months, and now theyre packing GT5 with a playstation 3 that theyre giving away for free? lol. talk about getting desperate for 'sales' numbers.
can i ask why people defending GT5 now all jump to the 'you have to get to level 40 and then the AI/damage gets good' line?
this is a myth. it started as a rumour when 1 guy on GTPlanet posted a youtube vid of a RACE CAR with a fair bit of damage. someone then said 'oh you have to be level 40 to get this damage' and all of a sudden every GT fanboy took this as gospel. a few days later though, the guy who recorded the video off his tv came in again and commente...
@Shadow Flare: "After playing GT5, it just makes Turn 10 a complete laughing stock. No racing game compares. The game is outstanding, desperately beautiful and massive. It makes a mockery of all of Turn 10's sly jabs it took at polyphony. "
how do you figure? review scores are all saying Forza 3 is the better game, with it scoring higher on basically every big-name publication.
after playing GT5, you come to realise just how good a job Turn 10 h...
i do have the game actually, picked it up this morning on release.
the AI is dumb as a doornail - basically every review says the same thing. they just follow the set line and wont deviate from it. hell, a few of them have just got way ahead, parked their car on the racing line at the end of a straight, and then watched as car after car after car came barrelling down the straight and ran straight into them! yeah, thats *great* AI....
the physics in GT are goo...
i love how every review that gives it 10/10 or A etc is promptly called 'non biased' or 'fair', even if its from www.tehSONYPS3istehBESTESTEVER .com, yet anything giving it a 8-9/10 is rubbished and called biased or not worth listening too.
go sony fanboys go!
i dont think anyone apart from the sony-faithful are going to take any notice of what Kaz says about his game from now on.
its gotten beyond a joke now. no other developers are allowed to give vague, cryptic answers about if a feature is in their game or not without attracting extreme amounts of criticism. could you imagine if Bungie hadve said half the stuff this guy has said about GT5 about Reach? the PS3 fanboys wouldve been having a field day.
GT5: http://i56.tinypic.com/hu0c...
when did reality get so.....pixely and low res?
if GT6 is on the PS4, Polyphony need to be shut down by Sony. it took them 5 years to make a game for the PS3, which is failing to live up to expectations and other games already on the market.
then to have to scrap that entire engine to make a new one for the pS4...........that would be absolutely ridiculous.
for the next GT game, which needs to be on the PS3, they need to:
- fix the AI. hell, how about actually GETTING some AI instead of ju...
to people bagging IGN for their 'low' 85/100 review (which is still a good score btw) - its not just IGN giving it <90/100. the games sitting on 86/100 on metacritic, with only a single site giving it 100/100.
no doubt about 50-60 Sony/GT sites will flood it with 100/100 reviews soon, but when you take all those out i think its pretty clear that GT5 will be around the 80-85% mark overall. not bad, but not great.
see ya in another 5 years Polyphony...
i have to laugh at the people on here who still think GT5s graphics are unmatched and 'PS4 quality'.
these are 100% untouched ACTUAL IN-GAME screenshots, not the usual bullshots Sony/PD release. doesnt look too crash hot now does it?

what the hell are you smoking?
Forza 3 is sitting nicely on 92% on Metacritic:

lol most of you guys dont seem to know what an embargo is.
if a game has an embargo on its review for the 24th, that means you cant publish your review until the 24th - it does NOT mean that you cant play the hell out of the game for weeks before, and write your entire review before the 24th. all it means is you cant PUBLISH IT before the 24th.
thats what IGN have done, and what they do all the time - theyve played the game for dozens of hours, and will publi...
great - 50 games in 3D, so 50 games that will run in SD resolutions in 3D, with reduced quality in pretty much every area.
lol
standard cars from the PSP are no different than the other 800 standard cars - theyre all just upscaled previous-generation models. theyre actually in the game already, all the PSP thing is doing is putting them directly into your garage - its not actually getting the car models from the PSP game lol.
i own every full GT release, and have over 80% completion in all of them (over 90% in 2 cases).
even the biggest GT diehard fan should watch that video though - it just shows just how BS all the 'screenshots' they release are. the standard cars look terrible, especially next to premiums (have a look at the race on laguna seca, a standard corvette is next to the drivers premium GT40 for a while).
in the snow races, the cars dont leave tracks in the sno...
after watching the gamespot 1 hour special on GT5, im very disappointed in GT5.

graphically, in-game its just a huge let down.
"buy a $5.00 burger and get a product which cost 30 times more."
no, buy a $5 burger and go in the running to win a product which costs 30 times more - big difference.
and no, you dont have to buy a $2k+ tv to get the free PS3. there are ones going for like $1600 with a free PS3 package.
i want to know how many more 8-9/10 reviews GT5 needs to get before the GT/Sony fanboys admit that its actually a 8-9/10 game and not a 9-10/10 game?
face it - its not perfect. its got BIG problems in many areas. is the driving experience still good? sure is, if you like the way previous GT games have done it. but does that make up for horribly inconsistent graphics, lengthy and frequent load times, terrible online functionality, no penalties for damage for the majority of th...
