I was probably going to pick up the ps3 version because of the better dpad, so now this makes that decision even more of a no brainer.
Ahh the joys of multi console ownership.
a few things i disagree with from the article:
" The first thing we should look at is technical prowess while both games are technical marvels GT5 easily takes the cake in this area. GT5 has a higher native resolution clocking at 1280x 1080p with 2X AA or 1280 x 720p the 4X AA, and GT5 has a 3D mode which runs at 1280 x 720p while Forza 3 doesn’t even have a 3D mode to speak of. Both games also manage to maintain a frame rate of 60fps which is impressive no matter what g...
"Active online players is different sure, but that's not what we're talking about."
but thats what we should be talking about, because thats the only thing that matters! for all we know sony could just hire some guys fresh out of school who want to get into the business and get them to sit there creating PSN accounts all day just so they can beef up their numbers.
and when sony say 'we have 60 million PSN users' thats what theyre imp...
lets break down what that 60 million PSN users includes:
- PS3 owners that play online
- PS3 owners that dont play online
- PSP owners that play online
- PSP owners that dont play online
- people that dont have a PS3 but signed up on the Official Playstation Forum (the only way to sign up is to create a PSN account, and youre not required to own a PS3 or even any playstation product - and many people on there dont)
- PS3 owners that wan...
@bishop-br:
i do remember the vision camera, i have one. got it for AU$15 with a free game (which i havent even opened), just so i could use it for burnout paradise basically lol. you can even do kinect video chat using the vision camera, you just need to use a headset too.
i was merely pointing out the fact that you dont need kinect AND a webcam, since Kinect already functions as a web cam.
@GWAVE: "Ask the GT community if they're disappointed. Everyone is satisfied. Everyone is loving it. Everyone is playing it. How can that be a fail?"
maybe you should go take a look over at GTPlanet - to say that everyone is satisfied is a HUGE lie. people over there are the biggest GT fanboys around, yet majority of them are disappointed with GT5 - even the ones that love the game. they love it, but they are disappointed by many many aspects of it.
how do some of you guys even manage to breathe? lol seriously, thats how dumb some of you make yourself look.
what does a 360 getting RROD have to do with Live accounts? Live accounts ARE NOT tied to a console! you could own 50 different 360s and still only have the ONE gold xbox live account. you can go over a mates house and recover your gamertag off xbox live to use on their xbox, then go home and recover it again on your console and use it there instead - theyre not locke...
from those videos, it looks like kinect is now tracking fingers too. guess we'll find out soon enough.
@DWeezy9: "It would be much easier to plug a webcam up and talk. "
You can already do that with Kinect. this is just another option.
youre forgetting that gold accounts turn to silver accounts once their subscription runs out, so even if this guy DID have 30 gold accounts over 3 years, only the 3 he currently uses count in microsofts figures.
and i dont know how he supposedly has had 30, since you can only make 3 of the '1 month free' gold accounts per console. methinks someones telling porkies.
on the topic - again sony puffing up their numbers with half-truths.
are there mo...
@MazzingerZ: "I'm not sure what you mean...and 99%??? really? you can't be serious...that you want to believe that is something else...I guess that 1% is Warhawk then...or Resistance 2...or MAG...or...the "world" in Demon's Souls is peer-to-peer..right..all those ghosts I see while gaming are hosted by me... "
how are you not sure what i mean? i mean that pretty much all multiplayer games on the PS3 apart from the big first party exclusives are...
so by that mindset, any game that has a level editor should get 10/10 replayability?
just because it has limitless levels doesnt mean people will want to keep playing it. remember, LBP2 is essentially just a 2D sidescrolling platformer (yes i know you can make your little racing games/shooters etc) - and the 2 million user created levels didnt stop me getting bored of the first LBP after a few weeks of the same old platforming.
@MazzingerZ: "SONY doesn't have that (peer2Peer) so there publishers have to setup servers"
im sorry, but youre 100% talking out of your arse. 99% of online multiplayer games on the PSN are Peer-2-Peer lol. hell, even Uncharted 2 - the PS3 fanboy holy grail - is Peer-2-Peer. quit talking about things that you have no idea about.
on the topic - again, it seems like most of you are going off half cocked without reading the article.
aaaaaaaaaaaand here we go again - the PS3 fanboys kicking and screaming that their beloved PS3 exclusive didnt get a 10/10 lol. right on time.
9/10 is a great score however you look at it. you guys all act like 9/10 is a 3/10. just because LBP got 9.5/10 doesnt mean LBP2 has to get higher because its a sequel lol.
just go back to your parents basements and be happy that one of your beloved exclusives got 9/10. its a good score.
" With a PS3 you also get ads from turning it on, but put in a game and the first thing you get is that game. Really don't see why you only get that when offline with a 360. "
Guess you didn't know there's an option to boot directly into the game on the 360, bypassing the entire dashboard, did you?
What you ps3-only guys are missing is that basically the entire 360 dashboard is optional. You can load directly to a game when you turn the ...
@HolyOrangeCows: "So the Ps3 version has a slightly better framerate"
some people need to learn how averages work. if a game runs at 45fps half the time, and 15fps the other half, the average will be 30fps. a game with a framerate that changes like that would look TERRIBLE compared to a game that is a constant locked 30fps (of which its average is also 30fps). so on paper, their averages are the same, but in actual terms of playing it, the locked at 30fps game will ...
i know what youre saying, but it wouldnt really be a sequel to Reach - it would be a sequel to Halo 3, going by the timeline.
the footage at the end of Halo Reach of the re-growth etc is AFTER halo 3. no doubt they can make a game there and it doesnt need to have covenant - and shouldnt have them, since the humans won the war with them - but it would technically be a sequel to Halo 3.
thats all im saying.
"how do you know which technique they used to capture this images?"
http://www.lensoftruth.com/...
"How do we capture and stream?
We are constantly getting asked how we capture and stream our videos. So we whipped up a few nifty flow charts. As you can see, this is what we mean by source. Everything goes from the consoles to the capture box…there are no cameras involved....
"Every sony exclusive has had dedicated servers"
Uncharted 2 doesnt. Gran Turismo 5 doesnt. actually a whole lot dont use dedicated servers.
"the only 360 game to have dedicated servers is halo"
Halo doesnt use dedicated servers.
Left 4 Dead does though. Left 4 Dead 2 does. Frontlines Fuel of War does. Gears of War 3 does. Battlefield Bad Company 2 does. so do a few more games.
the old ...
that was a fantastic article. congrats to the writer.
ive been saying it since the day i played uncharted (on the day it released) and then again with uncharted 2 (again, on the day it released as well) - theyre good little 'check your brain in at the door' games, but theyre nowhere near the best games of the generation IMO because theyre so very very basic in terms of gameplay. theyre the most linear games you can ever get, with sloppy controls and terrible, basicall...
