Xbox had cross platform chat since the release of shadowrun on Games for Windows Live. google it if you dont believe me.

this has nothing to do with Microsoft not "opening up" xbox live. it has everything to do with one thing - MONEY! sony wouldve paid for exclusivity. theres nothing wrong with that, companies do it all the time. but dont try and pass this off as a technical thing that the 360 cant handle.

I'll be there with bells on. hoping to get a new 360 (even though my old model is still going strong), a few years worth of xbox live subscriptions at only $15 a year (usually $80), and as many 3000 MS point cards as i can carry for only $10 each. thats an insane saving on the points alone, 3000 points are usually something like $60!

"striving" is pushing it.

Remember, the PS3 literally erased all of the PS1/PS2 profits before it just recently became profitable. So at the moment the PS division is still down $5b+ from where it was in 2005. They need to make about $6b in profits now just to break the entire division EVEN. if that is "striving" then they're in even deeper trouble than we know.

its funny that everyones complaining about what, 100ms of input lag for BF3, yet these same people LOVED the 200ms of input lag in Killzone 2.

the 360 and PS3 arent made to be media HUBs though, thats the thing. the 360 doesnt let you store videos on it because its meant to be a media EXTENDER.

i personally have a 6tb NAS on my network that stores all my videos/photos/music. the 360 streams all of this perfectly and instantly, meaning i essentially have a 6tb HDD in my 360. the PS3 streams from it too, but nowhere near as well. the file browsing doesnt cache so takes upwards of 2 minutes to list everything, and play...

i love how people seem to think that this "play, create, share" tagline is some sort of revolution in gaming that has never been done before lol.

its just user created content. Forza has it, and has for YEARS before sony came up with their cutesy little slogan. Halo had it years before sony did. many other games had it before sony did. hell, XNA is 1000000000000000 times as useful in the "play, create, share" sense as anything sony are doing.

@Ravenor: "Features like delayed inputs and a slightly blurry look to everything. "

so its Killzone 2, basically? well thats ok, cause 90% of N4PS3G absolutely loved Killzone 2. they should love OnLive then.

I still hold MGS as one of my top 5 games of all time, with MGS3 not far behind, but MGS4 does not deserve to be anywhere near a top 5 PS3 exclusives list IMO.

it was overly convoluted just for the heck of it, every cutscene just rehashed the same old PMC tripe, and what little gameplay there was, was just ordinary. i mean, the whole drebin point system of letting you buy weapons and ammo on the fly just completely ruined the game. out of ammo? dont worry about going stealth,...

you guys are hilarious lol.

1. they said EXCLUSIVE games. who gives a rats if COD is bigger than Halo - COD is not exclusive!

2. Mario might be huge, but Halo Reach and Halo 3 have both sold more than Mario Galaxy for example. Halo is HUGE. Galaxy has sold 10 million - to the people saying 5 million, it hit 5 million IN THE USA. its at 10 million worlwide as of Jan 2012. Reach sold over 10 as of 2011, and 3 was over 14 last i saw.

3. Gran Tur...

the 360 was dead in Japan before it even released. the japanese just dont like game consoles that are from japan, much like they dont like many technology products that arent from japan. they also like buying used underwear from vending machines though, so make of that what you will.

the 360 being dead in Japan means exactly 2/10ths of f#$%-all though. the 360 sells more consoles in ANY given 6 month period in the US alone than the PS3 sells in a 2 years. the PS3 has only sol...

its funny that people are calling forza milked, yet most of them probably paid $40 for a DEMO of GT5 lol.

releasing a game every 2 years that is better in EVERY way than the previous game is apparently "milking", yet releasing a almost full priced DEMO isnt?

lmfao.

also, like someone else pointed out, the sony fanboys on N4PS3G always spout that the 360 doesnt have any exclusive games, now theyre saying that it getting another 2 ex...

funny, i said this here on N4G about 3 YEARS ago based on the fact that IBM had dropped development on the Cell, and was told i didnt know what i was talking about since sony could still make the chip (R&D and production are the same thing, apparently lol).

then i said it again as soon as the PSV was announced to use a more common design, and that if they werent using the Cell for the PSV then they most certainly werent going to be using it for the PS4, and again was met...

why are people saying it sold 1.2 million in 4 days? last time i checked, Japan was part of "worldwide" lol.

~500k in japan in 8 weeks, ~700k in the rest of the world in 5 days = 1.2 million worldwide.

its "okay" numbers, but its not great numbers. for comparison, the PSP sold 500k in the US alone in its first 2 days, and 185k in the UK. that right there is as many as the PSV sold worldwide in its first 4 days of sale. there is no way that...

Just like the game "fighter maker" on the original playground.

That was pretty awesome, although it required a hell of a lot of work.

Its interesting that Skype is not only still supported on existing Sony consoles but being added and improved on new ones, what with Microsoft buying Skype last year. Guess it goes to show that even though they are competitors in one market, they work together in others.

lol at people trying to blame microsoft for this.

firstly, what idiot has a 360 IN A WARDROBE? secondly, the 360 DOES turn off when it overheats. in this case the 360 didnt "overheat", it just got hot enough for something to catch alight. you guys do realise that stuff can catch alight at relatively low temperatures. bushfires are started all the time simply by LEAVES catching alight from the sun etc.

leaving a piece of machinery in a closed wardro...

the problem with the PS3 + Vita is that there wasnt even a SINGLE original PSP game that was used IN CONJUNCTION with the PS3.

Remote Play is NOT what the Wii-U offers. Remote play doesnt let you use the PS3 and Vita/PSP together, it just lets you use the PSP to remotely control the PS3 - you dont get a different image on the PS3 and PSP/Vita, one is just a reflection of the other.

the Wii-U games have different things displayed on both the TV screen and the...

geez you guys are predictable. how about you read the article before saying that microsoft do this to people so theyre just getting some of their own back?

from the article:

"Regulators contended that while Apple and Microsoft have firmly committed not to sue competitors over the use of standards-essential patents, Google's statements on the matter have not provided the same assurance. "

wow, i hadnt seen the price of Vita games here in aus - $69 for uncharted etc is ridiculous. for those that dont know, most PS3/360 games come out at either $79 or $89 in shops like JB Hifi. $69 for a portable game is highway murder.

<sarcasm>but sony arent in it for the money, right guys? theyre in the video game business for the FANS! </sarcasm>

theres 1 reason why theyre not doing it - money. if you could transfer your purchased games over then you wouldnt buy them AGAIN, which means sony dont make more money. same way they removed PS2 BC from the PS3 so they could start selling PS2 games on the PSN and do "HD remakes".

like every other company in the world, theyr...
