The exit fee is, after 5 months iirc (pay out in full if leave before then), $12 a month for the remainder of the contract - so you basically get the Xbox for the regular RRP if you exit after 5-6 months.
The phone analogy is perfect because that's exactly what this is - discounted hardware with a monthly service fee. Calls/data for phones, Xbox live gold for the Xbox.

Firefox would be the absolute WORST browser to put on consoles lol. Out of the 3 main browsers it is by far the slowest, most bloated, and most resource intensive.
Chrome would be best, then Ie9. I'm guessing most of you hate ie just cause its Microsoft, but ie9 is an excellent browser. They cut the fat, streamlined everything, and its almost on par with chrome.

As kma2k suggested, this is probably just a test for next gen - if microsoft really are going all-out hardware wise next generation like the rumours suggest, this model enables them to get an expensive piece of hardware into peoples hands much quicker. they could essentially release a $750 console but sell it for say $300 + a 3 year subscription to live at $15/month. over the 3 years it might cost the person an extra $100, but the cost is offset over 3 years so its MUCH easier to budget for. ...

i had put days and days worth of hours into BF3s multiplayer on 360 before this latest update came out, and i have 100% completely stopped playing it now. they ruined the game.
matchmaking should be official dice servers, server browser should include rent-a-server rubbish.
if they dont fix this, im done with BF3 for good.

i dont think Microsoft would bother, as the backend of Zune has already been developed to handle this sort of stuff.
zune on the 360 as it is right now basically streams 1080p video instantly - we're talking you click a video thats on the marketplace, not stored locally, and it starts up in 2-3 seconds. its incredible to actually see in person, streaming 1080p over even a very modest internet connection.
at about $130 more than the regular black 160gb PS3 (~$330 at JB Hifi and the likes), it seems a bit expensive for just a diff colour and bigger HDD.
that said, it does look nice.

they were always more expensive than JB and dick smith, so its no real surprise.
the real shame to come out of this is that they were one of the few places to stock video game related merchandise such as figurines and models.
