God dang! F3 made it into the list at a respectable 6th place considering their install base, less than a 1/3 of the PS3 or so.
Beta vs VHS has proven that consumers care more about convenience than quality. Especially if that said quality is an upgrade over existing DVD and yet do not differ significantly between DD and BR.
As it is even the difference between 720p and 1080p is hard to detect for consumers, let alone 1080i or 1080p.
I think the price is really what is going to make it or break it, as consumers don't see a significant reason to upgrade to either at the current cost.
....
....
Shows that you guys care though and as the article points out, it is flattering for MS though....
I suspect that this is not as expensive as it used to be due to the economy. Then again, in troubled times businesses that do well are the ones spending more on marketing.
@gaffyh: I think the "it only does everything" is a great commercial and the slogan is very catchy. Sony have done a great job revamping their advertisement.
Furthermore, they are the master of hyping. Part of the reason why the Dreamcast died and what carried the PS3 through the toughe...
Did you guys consider the fact that pricing stuff below cost means that you will drive your competitor that cannot afford this out of business. That means in the long run there will be less competition. Less competition means the remaining stores can raise their prices hurting consumers.
If you are the only one left in the neighborhood, you are practically controlling the prices.
That is why in some countries it is illegal to sell your product below cost!!!
The button were all misplaced. It felt like a Xbox/PS2 controller, but the buttons are all in the wrong places. Not symmetrical at all.
I prefer the 360 controller, but the d-pad is horrid!
The PS3 controller cramps my hand since it doesn't fit well into my hands and the triggers are horrible. Get some real triggers!
relative to the value they provide. Why is that?
Think about how many hours you can play on a game and then compare that to the cost of going to a movie theater to watch a movie or buying a DVD (or even a blu-ray movie). Afterwards, there is a resell value. If you are an online gamer, you have even more re-playability.
Now, if you still think it is too expensive. How about, waiting until the game drops in price within 3-6 months. Usually it drops to 50% of the cost, ...
when that analyst suggest Sony remove blu-ray from the PS3 to lower cost!
Why would MS fracture their own market just so you can have the convenience of one disc. In fact, it would be a disservice to all current Xbox 360 owners. Multiple discs are not a problem and the cost to print a disc these days are insignificant. If licensing is an issue (I don't know), then I'm sure MS would lower the cost as the competition heats up.
Multiple discs? I guess if you are lazy an...
"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 still snuck onto the list as a favorite-pick among some males between 11 and 17 years of age, along with the expensive add-on pack known as Halo 3: ODST."
source: http://www.cinemablend.com/...
Is it really necessary to label it an "expensive add-on pack".
Lucky for us 360 owners then, because next year we will be getting Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake, Crackdown 2, Splinter Cell Conviction and a host of other multiplats.
Doesn't that cover most genres? What else are you looking for (if you are not a fanboy with a biased view)?
Besides if it sells, it means people want it. Why do you care?
a) company displays arrogance because they consumers the feeling the consumers need them more
b) b!tch about how CoD commercials favor Xbox 360 over PS3 by displaying an Xbox logo
c) doesn't listen to the community in regards to the lack of dedicated server issue
Response:
a), sure, but aren't most companies like that? I mean, MS with their over priced accessories. Sony with the way overpriced PS3 at launch not to mention questionable comments from both K...
2009 would a have been a great year, but everybody pushed their games to 2010.
With that said, exclusive full discs released games this year (2009) for MS?
Halo Wars
L4D2
Forza 3
Halo 3: ODST
GTA 4 Episodes
Star Ocean 4
Ninja Blade
That is a nice list and I'm almost certain I forgot some other games.
It's also funny how every single year, the PS3 fanboy will list games that are not released that year and w...
I agree with you. If anything you should blame Sony for mismanagement. I mean they could have implemented this feature way in advance, communicate with developers more and give them the tools. After all the PS3 had a whole year to study their competitor and instead they didn't capitalize on almost any of the strengths of the 360.
If anything, they should have had Konami patch in Trophies on MGS4!!! Yeah! I'm still hoping it will come and I seriously think people would buy this ga...
Yeah, I agree with you!
Might I also add that XNA is an amazing piece of software that no other console maker is matching even close Anyone with some skill can publish their own game on a console and make a profit!!!
I call it wise business decision. Do you blame Sony for copying Trophies? What about Netflix? Or how about cross game chat that is the most sought after feature on PSN? How about Home being a copy of second life?
"Need more, or have I made my point?"
But hey, if you already have double standards there is no point in discussing.
Not so fast:
"Out-of-the-box, the Xbox 360 version is our flavor of choice. If you do decide to install it on the Playstation 3, the load times will be decreased but be warned the online matches may take a hit depending on who you are paired with."
Granted not that significant, it is still an edge especially after an installation on the PS3, the 360 is still faster by a small margin.
Get whichever controller or platform you prefer. I will not ...
I must sadly say I agree. Why waste society's resource on this guy, death penalty!
isn't it the PS3 with the motion technology?
lol!
Either way, I hope the next Wii is backwards compatible. Who knows, it might be more powerful than the PS3, considering 4 years have gone by.
