No, component cable is capable of full 1080p60. It just isn't enabled due to movie studio restrictions in most if not all devices.
Sorry, that guy is sorely mistaken. 1080p is fully capable to be output on regular VGA and even on Component connections. For HDMI 1.0, see here:
http://marchignoliantonio.n...
By the way, 1080p only specifies the vertical resolution not the horizontal. Thus no game to date that looks amazing is running at Full 1080p (1920x1080) on a console.

Agree. This game is looking better by the video!
You just basically turned 90% of the people on this site against you. Don't you know, this is where fanboys hang out!
Wouldn't it be cool if PS3 and Xbox 360 owners could play this together in the same world?
On second thought (apart from the technical feasibility), you would probably only get bickering from fanboys on both sides.
"Guess MS brought their cheque book with them. "
or it could just be SE wanting to explore more ways to make money. Hmmm... what a concept other than MS bringing the cheque book. Yeah, I know mind blowing indeed!
... and potentially a very lonely guy/gal for a while.
What the author forgets is both the controller and games has evolved in the last 30-years. In contrast, this new motion controllers haven't had enough time to really shine and bring in the innovation yet. This is furthermore exacerbated by how Nintendo handled their games approving all sorts of cr@p to be released.
Just think back to the NES days when you had 1 d-pad and 2 buttons (excluding Start/Select). See how it evolved? We now got 2 analogs, 1 d-pad, 4 buttons, 2 bumpers an...
I'm very excited for anything Ninja Gaiden. However, I saw the last E3 trailer for this game and was sorely disappointed that Ryu was wielding a 1800's style gun in the cut scene. I hope for the love of NG, that they are not adding a gun to Ryu's arsenal. The game has already strayed enough away from the core NG namely the utterly bloody violence.
For the fans, check it out yourself around 1min 50secs:
No really, I really loved the first one despite what others think and the more I see of it the more I want it! As a multi-platform, this games looks like one of the best.
I'm just happy both consoles get it same day and date. This means I can buy one version of the game and feel good about that another added content version isn't coming. I also get to choose my platform of choice, not forced!
Straight from the horses mouth. That's a bummer, but many series have evolved without the original creator and done well. I will judge it when it comes out.
If anything, this also indicates any new MGS games after Rising will also be multi-platform for the two leading HD consoles.
I saw a bunch of glitches GoW3 as well. However, they have 9 months to work on it, in development time that is on average half the time a development studio gets to create a game. In other words a crap load of time.
It looks great though. I wasn't a fan of the first Uncharted, but Uncharted 2 looks equally as impressive.
MS showed MGS:R to prove a point i.e. the last large franchise is coming to the Xbox 360.
Sony on the other hand has a long history of hyping up games that aren't released for years. You had to wait almost 3 years for KillZone 2 albeit I'm very happy it met the high standards they set for themselves. Point being, I don't like hyping up games so far in advance and that is my biggest criticism of Sony. That is why I felt E3 showing was weak. the same pipe dream every year and I'm ...
For real? The darn thing wasn't much different than the Wii Motion Plus except it required a camera to track motion.
The precision was nice, but still Nintendo showed of the Wii Motion Plus last year which hopefully means we will get it this year with games.
I was let down by Sony, still the same old story. These are the games we will release! What about this fall/winter?
Here is the highlights:
a) GoW3 releases March 2010. Still far off, but I will give you this. Looks awesome although the animation is off at places. Since it isn't final build fair enough. Excitement Meter: A-
b) Uncharted 2 looks great. Amazing visuals although the first one didn't seem that interesting to me so now I might have to pick th...
lol, your avatar combined with your comment is just sooo fitting!
Exactly. If anything MS has shown that they got plenty of exclusive games (no, scratch exclusives because it doesn't matter) coming in the near future. They constantly release games contrary to what everyone was concerned about.
This additional controller is just icing on the cake. If it does well great, if it doesn't it will still be copied and improved upon by the two other console makers.
problem is, you can't just turn off the kid to lay something else.
PS, I was referring to the responsibility of having a real kid.
You know everybody talks about how innovation is lost when games go multi-platform. The only thing at best that I see different from an exclusive game and a multi-platform game is at times the graphics. That is it!
Tell me what else? The Sixaxis motion control? For the most part, the 360 and PS3 is extremely similar to the user. PS3 might have blu-ray, standard hard drive and wi-fi, but reality is that almost none of that have any real bearing on game play apart from graphics (an...
Unless you want a white (non-chromed) 360 then get the Arcade. Otherwise, the Elite comes with a MS official dongle majig that gives you proper HDMI connection as well as optical out.
Without that thing-a majig and you hack your component cable to fit the HDMI and optical cable in, you end up with a situation where changing channels on the TV will reset your Xbox 360.
I have that issue since I didn't spring for the Elite at the time. Kind of regret it now though......
