I think that you can find the same kind of "variety" in sports games as you would in any genre of gaming. This would be like saying that all platform games are the same, or all FPS games are the same. Yes, we KNOW that it is the same mechanic each year...but just like those that will argue the merits of COD vs. Battlefield or KZ vs. Halo, it is the subtle nuances that "improve" the experience. People play the games that THEY LIKE, so they get the value out of it BECAUSE th...
I believe that those were "design" decisions made by the devs to keep the multiplayer a bit closer to what the average FPS gamer is used to and STILL keep the integrity of the Killzone franchise. That is very similar to why they decided to remove the cover system. To the devs, it would have hampered or altered some of the fun of the multiplayer.
I have fallen victim to the sports game thing in general. I am a HUGE sports nut, and thus will play MOST sports games. It is basically the SAME as the next iteration of whatever genre you love in gaming. Cosmetic upgrade, tweak hear and there, and you have a new game. Saying that, I have found that EA are guilty of milking you dry every time they do a GRAPHICS upgrade (new engine)because they take out the features that were supposed to make the previous version "the one to get". Ma...
Why do THAT when you can make $60 for each of the gazillion Madden games that are sold EVERY year! Not agreeing with EA's tactics, just saying that it is a trend that has been around since someone realized that there would be rabid sports fans that would eat it up!
Most times that I have heard those complaints...it is simply BETA BUGS that have turned them off. Some have complained about graphics...and OTHERS just wish that the ENTIRE game was open...plus there are specified TIMES at which the game is available to the public. These are the primary complaints that I hear the most. Anything else is simply a matter of TASTE. The game is MORE than solid already and it still has months before it's release! The NEXT round of invites is due out by Sept. 17th s...
I migrated from COD4 to Bad Company simply because I was tired of the SAME routine over and over. Not that COD4 was BAD, just that I was saturated by the hours and hours of gameplay that I put in on it. So, this is my NEW option for when I get tired of MW2! It plays so much differently than other shooters...even those of it's lineage like SOCOM. Hope it garners the respect of gamers DOLLARS so that the servers stay packed and the game can truly thrive! Having a BLAST thus far with the beta!
They KILLED a classic!!!
Didn't mind the shaking of the controller in RDKF!!! The game was OK, not quite as bad as some of those games that were listed in the article! Actually a pretty fun "party" game...especially with a couple drinks in ya!
That's what I was talking about with the "short spurts"! I could only kill, mutilate and throw things for so long before it became like GTA without doing missions. Everybody loves that aspect of the game...but I guess that thrill can only last for so long! Loved the "WEB", but it kinda felt disjointed at times.
I guess this was their attempt to bring the TRIBES mentality to a "next gen" concept! I used to LOVE the old TRIBES games. So, I had a little hope that this would at least be a SOLID game. Looks like it IS that...and that is all!!!
My thoughts are the exact opposite of yours! Props for buying BOTH games, because I did too. I got them day 1! I played Prototype MORE than I played Infamous. However, as time went on...I realized that I was enjoying Infamous MORE and at longer lengths than Prototype. Prototype, for me, was more of the constant action...which was GREAT...but only in short spurts! I felt like Infamous gave more development to the story AND encouraged searching and hunting AS WELL AS the fighting mechanics! Bot...
Bubbs for the UNICRON!!! I love that!!! Dayum I'm OLD!!!*LOL*
There are COUNTLESS pieces of crap that will be purchased for "full price" that won't offer the same value as a game like this. YES...it is "cartoony", but hell so is Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, the Mario and Zelda franchises!!! See where I am going? This game will offer the ability to play an almost INFINITE amount of tracks. (LBP has over 1 million levels create...albeit not all are GOOD. Difference here is it should be PRETTY HARD to created a track that is unpla...
I think that SOME graphics whores will be disappointed with MAG because of graphics downgrade. However, there is a FUN FACTOR that just can't be denied. It really is NOT like the other FPS out there. It stands on it's own! I'm loving it.
I always thought that I was ALONE on that topic!!! I have been wanting that to return for a while now!!!
Funny that you stated that because I was thinking the exact same thing. When was the last time that the average person has shed a tear over an entertainment medium!?!? I have had VERY EMOTIONAL experiences in movies, games, and music. However, I can't say that I shed any TEARS! I think that movies have brought me the closest to that point, but I didn't cry. I was just left with the emotional baggage of the character that I empathized with. That is the key to the question. When have we been so...
This could be the answer to Sony's backward compatibility "issue"! Since a lot of people have probably either missed those games, or just MISS those games (as in "I wish I still had ________ game!?!?")Sony could do re-mastered games in the same way they treat the platinum line-ups!
I agree...BUT...my hope is that as the mindless shooter generation of PS2 and XBOX matured...so did their taste is games. Indigo Prophecy is an example of what you stated about a game that is "high-minded" missing the masses. The fact that people doubt if Heavy Rain will be "fun" is an example. IMO, this is a complete departure from what we are used to in a game. You have to change your expectations from a "mechanical" standpoint in order to TRULY experience what...
I completely agree. I did that first scene SEVERAL different ways...just to see what would happen. It is the little details that make the game so special. Choosing EXACTLY what to do. Some of my choices didn't come back to haunt me for 2 chapters later...when i saw what I FORGOT to do. Excellent story telling and compelling as well!!! Looking forward to Heavy Rain for the same thing!
Ignorance is the condition of being uneducated, unaware, or uninformed. Choosing to be ignorant...well that is another thing entirely. Not pointed at ANYBODY...just a point of clarification.
