That's hilarious. Our world is slowly dying.
You guys are arguing over nothing. The only way there could be a Halo killer is if a game came along that pulled most of the 8 million Halo fans away from the franchise - which of course means the game would have to be on Xbox. So really - when you think about it - it's impossible for Sony to produce a Halo killer because the people playing Halo will never really care what Sony has on its console.
Call of Duty may have put...
Personally I like the feel of getting an achievement more, but that's partly because I've been getting them much longer than trophies.
A well-thought out article that I kind of agree with. The fact that trophies are divided between bronze, silver, gold and platinum adds context to the difficulty. True, achievements come in varying points, but typically the big point achievements are for something as simple as finishing a chapter/act. When you see someone has 3 platinum trophies, ...
This statement by the author confuses me, because since it's launch, every game on the 360 has displayed at 1080i. At least. The first year of PS3 games were standard at 720p. You couldn't find a 1080 anywhere on the box.
How did Microsoft shrug off the importance of HD gaming?
I think there's a little weight behind this charge. But I think the flurry of anti-PS3 articles is because they get so many hits. For whatever reason, whether you love the PS3 or hate it, there's a certain fascination with these ideas about Sony's doom and gloom.
I suspect that if we stopped clicking on these articles, stopped reading them (because you already know they're just going to piss you off) they'd probably start to dry up.
What does it matter what CNN think...
Now THAT'S unbiased journalism!
In terms of the PS3 being the lead console for multiplats now, that's not necessarily a "compliment". It's most likely due to the complexity of the cell processor. The 360's such a simple beast to program for. I think most developers have learned the lesson by now. When you lead with the mystical magic of the PS3, it's easier to port to the simpler guts of the 360.
It's kind of like beginning the tutor session with the incred...
This game looks gorgeous. And this comparison was fantastic. Normally I skip over these things because they seem like pointless drivel. But these stills are top notch. And f*cking beautiful.
I have to say, I'm surprised to see the 360 version looking so much...fuller. This franchise was born and raised on the Playstation and I thought it would look better on the PS3. I know it's an early build, but the difference between the two is certainly noticeable. And kinda staggering in my...
I'm generally not a fan of JRPG's, but this game looks very charming.
This guy is clearly excited about this game.
The bots in online could be cool, but I can also see them being annoying/lame, especially if they're so good they're winning matches for otherwise poor teams. Fun reading about the kill animations and weapons. Graphics should be amazing - at this point, anything less than godly will be a disappointment - but I think sound needs to be on that list as well. For those of us with home theaters, this is one of those games we very much look ...
I don't think the article or Ender were addressing the picture quality. It's about which is preferred, regardless of tech specs.
We all know Blu-ray is the superior format in terms of picture and sound. I have a PS3 and love watching HD movies on it. But I also have XBL with Netflix and it's quite awesome. The ease and convenience involved make it a very attractive option. For a minimum of cost (way cheaper than any Blu-ray title) I have access to hundreds of TV shows, movies and...
I for one love the new party system, but that's because of how I game. When I'm online, I'm almost always playing co-op or a small versus mode with friends of mine from around the country. This is how we socialize when we're all in different states. I'm a hardcore gamer, but when it comes to playing online, I'm much more casual - I'm there to have fun.
In regards to co-op, with Left 4 Dead in particular, party chat is a great way to still converse with your peeps even while the g...
I have no doubt that this game will be fun as hades.
The PS3 is a wunderkind - a monstrous and elegant beast for HD media. However, for every point this author raises that I agree with, he raises another that is an absolute fabrication or slanting of the facts. For example, his price comparison is completely skewed. 360 Elite's are currently available on Amazon for $299. And there's a 3rd party wifi adapter that sells for $70. So 360 Elite with 120g HDD and wifi is $370 vs. PS3 still at $400. And if I may adopt the snide and sneering tone of th...
This article was mature and insightful, not something one expects from the title. I actually have much more respect for Sony's grand strategy having read this. The anomaly that has been the PS3 now makes sense to me.
Well said, sir. Bubbles for you. I for one am tired of this fanboy bullsh*t. I never considered myself a fanboy of any console until I saw how rabid and irrational the sony-phites are on this site. I loved PS1 and PS2 and was very excited for PS3, but it's been a disappointment overall. The games, the community, the thrills are typically found on my 360 (one man's opinion). When/if Sony gets its act together, I'll be rolling in the awesome along with everybody else.
But until tha...
But so be it. I just checked out Home for the first time. And I was so bored I almost started crying.
This was one of those things that got me excited about the PS3 when I first heard about it. YEARS AGO. But I have to agree with this assessment: Home already feels outdated. First off, it's Second Life. Inside of my first thirty minutes I saw a cybersex hook-up in the Bowling Alley. Classy. Now, I have no interest in Second Life and I guess I have no interest in meandering around...
I really want this game to rock, and the less hype it gets, the better for all of us.
This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. The difference between 480p and 1080p is quite noticeable even to the lamest of layman. The PS3 is hands-down the best blu-ray player on the market (I'm still waiting for the awesome game library). I'm also not one to blow his load over special features, but even putting those aside, blu-ray is a considerably awesome hop forward in home entertainment. Remember, it ain't just the picture: we're getting up to 7.1 channels of theater quality surroun...
I come here hoping to find out NEWS about games. Not meaningless opinions. Blogs and articles like this are just glorified forum posts that you get suckered into reading. They are not front page worthy.
So rabid fans will finally shut the F up. I agree it's going to be beautiful, and I'm excited to finally have a cool game to play on my PS3, but everyone that's expecting the 2nd Coming from this game better get ready to be disappointed. As Sony fans are fond of pointing out with Gears - pretty graphics do not an amazing game make. This game will not be Audrey Hepburn; it best it'll be Jessica Simpson.
Actually, Superman Returns was shot on the Genesis in standard 2D workflow. The 3D effect was added later. Cameron has designed a camera with Sony that consists of 2 imagers feeding into a master deck - essentially recreating the stereoscopic way that our eyes see. Journey to the Center of the Earth was the first wide release film to use this tech, though Cameron released two IMAX docs that were shot using the first generation of this system.
The tech does exist to turn a normal ...
