Hope they got a good sense of a lot of people they would like having beers with, then, given that big corporations always have fairly cyclical turnover. Phil seems like a guy you could grab a beer with, but he could be replaced at any moment by a Peter Moore or Bobby Kotik type who don't seem much like they'd as easily fit that description. Not uncommon for figureheads to change and cultures to shift from when initial acquisitions happen and sort of getting the rug pulled out from und...
"Blizzard said, and he led the team responsible for the first playable demo of Diablo 4 at BlizzCon 2019."
Well, that's something at least. It's never good to see a new director pop up mid development, but at least this shift is to someone who headed the reveal demo that people responded well to.
I also assume, to a degree, with these big projects that unless it is something like an Anthem - a new property where you have to buckle down, ...
I've heard about this hidden gem called GTA V...
You can never please everyone, and somehow when options are offered people get upset that something isn't designed specifically for them. I mean, how many comments do we see on articles about traditional "gamer gear" discussing how gaudy the angles and colors are? This is a pretty minimalist product line, with minimalist colors, sold by a company pretty much known for minimalist design. But let's complain anyway lol.
A quick poke into the actual article shows it is actually making fun of the entire concept of this line & calling most everything out for being overpriced nonsense - even a few things that are pretty normal, like mouse bungees lol.
Extremes are used for comedy, extremes are used on the internet to make a point...we use the word "literally" these days to mean "figuratively". Best not to take stupid things like this toooooo seriously.
"You may also need a special gamers only mug with a lid which has been designed specifically for gamers and is not just a normal mug with a ‘cool’ techno design wrap around it. "
....Isn't that what a lot of gamer tat is, though? lol
lol Definitely a fair point. When a game is made and published by one of the largest video game companies on Earth, has at least 12 million sales between DA:O/DA2/DA:I, DA:I noted as being BioWare's most successful launch, and made EA enough money to greenlight a 3rd game? I'm thinking it's tough to argue that's niche :-p
If you take cult following on the face of it - a group of people who are highly dedicated & passionate about something - the author wo...
I'm not sure I follow the logic. Things improve. Should the rubric just be "Looks better than Atari 2600....check. Good game! Go play!"
I mean, I was just curious as to how extreme this line of thought went and checked your recent comments. I see you were giving Gran Turismo some guff about just not being fun, having lost its way a long time ago. I mean, pretend you are living in the 80's and then show yourself a 60 second clip of GT. Wouldn't you be ...
Yeah, between Epic's free stuff and the free games you get with Amazon Prime Gaming, there is a greater chance for overlap for sure. I claim everything I can, and this month's Choice includes 2 games I've gotten for free between Prime & Epic.
That said, even if I look at it like: I'd pay $5 for Katana Zero and $5 for Ring of Pain (both games I have on my wishlist), then I'm getting the other 8 games for $2. Or, worst case, $6 each for KZ & RoP, a...
As a heads up to anyone interested, Katana Zero is included in this month's Humble Choice. It comes with other games (sadly only a few others interest me this time around) but it is still hard to beat the price for 12 games.
Yeah, very weird that I'd be able to play a native version on the Steam Deck when I get mine in the coming months, but if I wanted to play them on my Switch it would require streaming them?
Sure, Steam Deck will be more powerful. And while not all tflops are equal, at least the PC specs for KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX includes the R7 240 as an acceptable GPU. That released in 2013 with about 0.5 tflops of power. The Switch's Tegra X1 is in that same ballpark, bu...
I don't understand the initial comment - obviously there is a hue and cry about how hard it is to get a hold of new GPUs right now - nor any of the following consolve vs PC nonsense. Is this game really something worthy of causing headbutting between these crowds? It's pretty dumb in any scenario, but I'm extra confused here lol.
In regard to the AI to upscale all existing Switch games, there isn't currently tech (that's very good) that can upscale everything without some kind of developer implementation. Perhaps they'll figure out something like the rumored DLSS 3.0, where any game with TAA could enable DLSS without developer intervention...but I'm not convinced.
Nintendo, while good game developers, have really struggled with things like HD game development. Things seem to have imp...
My theory from day 1 has been that they did this to allow themselves a kind of reset - their cadence with hardware refreshes left them in a weird spot for pricing/power compared to PS/XB. They could opt to move into the home console market at any point now, be better positioned to compete on a price/power front, and then shift the Switch to being their dedicated handheld.
I feel like the fact they've only focused on hardware revisions with improvements as a portable - f...
Rough as it is to say, there isn't much positive about them at all. Mine've been detached and unused for years now.
1st purchase for the Switch was a dongle that allowed me to pair my DS4/Wii U Pro controllers when docked to the TV. Not long after was the Split Pad Pro to use while in portable mode. Both are immense steps up in function and comfort.
Definitely befitting of the "jack of all trades, master of none" badge.
It's one of those things that isn't so much about being delayed, but just how long we've known about it. The trademark first showed up way back in 2013 and there were leaks and rumblings every year or two regarding its development. Then it was announced in 2018. It's hard to separate how long we've known about it from its official unveil, as we know its been in development for ages.
I also think there was some hope given how long it had been in developm...
I miss the more arcadey Tiger Woods series. I had such a great time playing those on PS2/3, being able to add spin to tweak shots after being hit, mashing the power button while swinging, building up my golfer. I play golf in real life - even work in the industry - but I don't need 1:1 realism in the golf games I play.
I played PGA 2k21 and really disliked it. Poor analog swing controls, shots that went way shorter than other shots for indiscernible reasons, no arcadey...
Star Wars Squadrons and Ghostrunner?! This is the first solid month they've had in a *while*. Blue Fire is a great get too (though I already got it from Humble Choice). Wonder if Squadrons will support VR?
------------
Also, where do people find these early announcements? Never can find them, even though they do say Amazon announced them...
I kind of agree. There are good things to be sure: the textures do look good, model detail looks clean, etc. But the jump from One to Series X isn't particularly massive. It seems like resolution and framerate are the main things separating these consoles, with the base XBO missing out on a few things like SSR in some instances, softer shadows, etc.
Improvements over the initial showing, certainly, but I don't find the differences mind boggling. Though, to be fair, ...
It's about the price I would pay to finally take a chance on it, given there's still no real firm dates for when expansion material is launching. Nor how much that expansion stuff will add/fundamentally change about the game to make it closer to what they showed in the vertical slice, and sold in those Night City Wire videos.
However, I would only play this on PC or Next Gen (current gen? new gen? lol), and I don't have either of the new gen consoles. I did fina...
