I dunno. I think putting a name to it gives the console more meaning and will be beneficial to marketing and advertising it. But your right, they are trying to fuse all their products and services together under the same moniker/name scheme, so it could go either way, as long as they make it official come May 21st.

I agree. I hope it is Infinite or Infinity. It sounds good and the name is different (*Hear that Nintendo*). Same when Microsoft announced Xbox 360 in 2005, caught everyone's attention and it was different then just having a "2" beside Xbox.

Hmm....possibly a 7-inch Xbox branded tablet with either a Tegra 4 or a custom built IBM processor, works only with Xbox 360 and Xbox 720, running with Windows RT. Then a new 9-10in version of Surface Pro, using Haswell processors, Full HD screens and improved battery life, while running Windows 8 Pro.

Yeah, the opportunities are endless by creating this division. But don't forget this new plan is not just for the dedicated console/gaming market. As stated in the article, possibilities within the mobile phone, tablet industry or even unique mobile and dedicated processors and APUs for laptops/desktops.
This could be HUGE in the coming years!
Personally, I'd delete this entire submission and use the alt source from pcworld.com and do a news submission for that. Everyone knows AMD are making semi-custom chips for PS4 and more-than-likely Next Xbox, but building a separate division for semi-customized chip design, based off of the work they've done with Sony and Microsoft, that's news and it's interesting.

Microsoft has always had their conference at 10AM PST on the Monday of E3, so I'm pretty sure the 8:45 is for press to start arriving no later than that time, which will give them an hour and 15 minutes to set up their live feeds, get their seats, etc.

Agreed. Also wouldn't mind seeing them address some these rumors and announcing if they are in fact true or false. But considering it's Microsoft, they won't acknowledge any of those rumors and if asked in interviews, just make up something to bypass the question.
Seems every developer making next-gen games are trying to re-establish their franchises or take new directions with their games, considering:
i) Killzone 4 --> Killzone: Shadow Fall
ii) inFamous 3 --> inFamous: Second Son
iii) CoD MW4 --> Call of Duty Ghosts
I'm sure more will come later on as well, but I kind of enjoy it. I like games with actual name titles to them, rather than just another sequel number.

Granted it was just a teaser trailer, and essentially an announcement trailer for the actual reveal at the Next-Gen Xbox reveal, but yeah it was odd and not really grabbing the gamers attention, especially being a FPS-series. Maybe we will be shooting against the "300" soldiers from Sparta??
Although, this trailer basically told us it's coming to the next-gen Xbox, which should not be surprising to anyone.
