My brother-in-law ran into this issue, and I posted on the us.playstation.com forums what we did to (mostly) fix the issue.
What happens is that the local trophy cache gets corrupted. If you back up your save games (or copy them to another profile), delete your profile, re-create your profile, copy your save games back, and re-sync your trophies (log into PSN, then bring up your trophy list, or bring up your profile from the XMB), it will resolve the issue with MOST games.

"Sorry about anyone working for sony, but as you can see they dont give a rats ass about you. So, with that in mind merry F@cking christmas you deserve it. "
So by extension you're saying that ALL of the other companies out there laying off workers don't care about their employees either? And are you saying that anyone that has been laid off deserves it?
I hate to break this news to you... But Sony is FAR FROM the only employer laying off workers recentl...
This global recession is getting out-right brutal... Something has to give...
This is not just specific to Sony. In the area that I live, most of the major employers are laying off people left and right... I'm just wondering how long unemployment benefits will be able to last with all of this going on.
There's even huge protests going on in China over job losses. This is hitting everyone HARD...
"The jump from VHS to DVD was HUGE. The jump from DVD to Blu-Ray was wack as hell. HD-DVD sucked even worse. Either way, Blu-Ray will soon be a thing of the past. You know that someone will come out with something 10x better in the near future. They already have actually."
Ummm... the biggest thing about the jump from VHS to DVD was the fact that you didn't have to rewind anymore... If you compare S-VHS to DVD, you'll notice very little difference. The thing that pre...
LOL... I remember all of the articles when Bioshock first released talking about a [PS3] section being found in the configuration file for the PC version...
At the time that Bioshock was released, there were still issues with the Unreal Engine 3 on the PS3. If I remember correctly, Sony had offered quite a bit of assistance to Epic for UT3 to get things running smoothly.
Now that those issues have been ironed out, I don't think that there will be any issues for Tak...
The only graphics issue on the PS3 was the inclusion of some VERY low resolution textures on some objects in the game (like the Big Daddy's), which was patched after people noticed it in the PS3 demo.
I'm not sure how Take Two's play testers missed that glaring issue, but they did at least fix it quickly.
But I do agree that Bioshock 2 will most likely be a simultaneous release on 360/PS3/PC. I can't wait... Bioshock was a great game with a compelling story to it. ...
Shoot... Killing Big Daddy's is only hard on the first couple of them... After that I was taking them out easily (you get a good chunk of cash for killing one).
But, to each their own... I rather enjoyed the story line of Bioshock, and can't wait to check out Bioshock 2.
I wouldn't be too worried about Bioshock 2 on the PS3.
The days of the PS3's install base being to small to consider are over.
If Take Two does as good of a job on Bioshock 2 as they did with the first, I have no doubts it will sell well on both consoles.
Wow... Did your mommy forget to give you your ritalin for the day?
Besides, Open Zone is ---> That way...
"and the lack of understanding of the console videogaming business."
Really? PS1 and PS2 say hello...
When you take a look at the kind of hit that Sony is taking across the board (all of their business units), it makes sense why they are trying to get as much out of this price point as possible.
Does keeping the price where it is help with sales? Nope... But if it is helping Sony corporate stay afloat, then you can't blame them for trying to...
"is it just me... or does anybody else feels like Microsoft has some un-ethical business practices?"
I would say that the US DOJ and the EU would agree with you on that one. Microsoft has managed to have anti-trust cases filed against them in both their home country and in Europe...
The case here in the US was particularly appalling. MS was telling PC OEM's that they either stop including the Netscape Navigator web browser on their PC's, or face hikes in...
Agreed. I hope these games sell good enough for EA to keep on making new IP's (especially EA Redwood Shores).
Dead Space was a great time. I ended up playing through it four times to get all of the PSN trophies for it.
It's refreshing to see EA put out some GOOD new IP's, let's show them some love and make sure these games sell well.
Exactly... It's funny how SquareEnix claims that 3'rd party exclusives are a thing of the past, then puts out a FEW of them for the 360... Hmmmmm...
"sooo... you must only use Linux, eh?"
One proud Linux/MacOS X only user here... I do have Windows XP running in a VMware virtual machine for MS Office though... And about the only thing I use my Mac for is graphic/web work, or audio work...
Anyhow, back on subject:
This happens to any startup that explodes in size... Microsoft wasn't always evil... ;-)
Did I even try denying that the PS3 is getting MURDERED by the Wii?
I distinctly recall typing "If that is true, then BOTH the 360 and PS3 need saving..."
Besides, you would kinda expect a console that retails for $150 less than an entry-level PS3 to out-sell it... ESPECIALLY with the global recession going on...
BOTH HD consoles are getting killed at the register by some last-gen tech with a motion controller...
Unfortunately I have to agree with Monitor on that one...
Both of the previous Playstation consoles were pretty heavily pirated... I had a chipped PS1 back in the day, and I have several buddies that have either chipped their PS2, or are using something like the HDDloader...
Not even the Wii is safe from piracy... The new models are currently un-hackable, but how long will that last? Yet you don't see piracy being THAT big of an issue for the Wii...
P...
You should have seen how things were back in late 2006 and 2007 on N4G.... You think it's bad now... :-P
"Sales are everything."
If that is true, then BOTH the 360 and PS3 need saving... The Wii is laying the smack down BIG-TIME on both of them when it comes to sales...
Hell, the 360 can't even come close to the sales of the Wii, and its entry price is $50 (USD) cheaper!!! So much for that magic $200 price theory... ;-)
Trolls will be trolls...
And before anyone goes flaming me... It takes one to know one.. ;-) LOL
What do you mean by a unified friends list? Other than a few Konami games, EVERY other game uses your PSN friends list.
Now personally, I really wish Sony had put their foot down and stopped Konami from implementing their own online system for Metal Gear Online and Pro Evolution Soccer. But, what can you do...
