However, onlive supported 60fps while gaikai was 30fps, if I remember correctly.

The next gen at leasts needs a 6x-8x speed bluray drive as data density of games increase, heck, even current Ps3 could have benefitted from a 4x bluray drive.

@darkride: Sometimes patents are taken to block the use of it, and in any case, the tech can be used to award the first user instead of blocking the second, which Sony was aiming to do (they had an award program in beta, dunno what happened to it, tho)

1 millionth customer should have waited a little bit :)

I leave the server when I see gazillion tickets. It's a nuisance indeed. Your first paragraph is also spot on.

There should a be limit of how much they can change a variable before the server becomes non-rankable.

Quickmatch multiplayer option became UTTERLY useless now, btw!

Death penalty suggestion is wrong on so many levels it is not even funny.

When will you draw the line?
"Guy who hacks her ex-gf's hotmail account is promptly executed after the governor signed his papers."

Or you want to apply the death penalty only to people who cause losses to corporations?!

Anyway, death penalty doesn't stop crime, but over the years I'm sure quite many innocent people got the chair. Th...

I think the move experience would be much more exciting, if they came as double pack by default and had anaologue controllers on it. No navigation controller, both motion capable, analogue touting controllers would have really gotten us a better experience: Instantly, two player games with basic navigation (without on-rails) would be possible for ALL move users, and single player games without the navi controllers that require precise motion control but more immersive as left hand would be tr...

I stopped after reading "Couldn't of said". I had to. I no longer warn about this in comments section, let people write whatever the heck they want, but if you are writing an article and want to be taken seriously, at least get your writing to a degree above primary school.

It wasn't CELL that really held PS3 back, it was the GPU. When the GPU wasn't helped by cell in multiplats, cell wasn't responsible for lack of AA or lesser resolution. Those are (traditionally) gpu bound applications.

KZ3 could have been the best online shooter, but lack of squad interactivity, lack of comeback chance due to spawn changes from KZ2 made it a frustrating experience for me.

This can only be good news for Vita. I'm not a fan of the franchise, but it will move hardware.

@lolololrumz

For the l.a. noire comment. The bodies were indeed sub-par compared to the faces, from what I have seen, but one thing that probably also held it back was that motion and face performances had to be seperately recorded. From brief scenes I've seen on the net, you really couldn't see the face adapted while the guy is breaking in through the door with a shoulder, or when the guy is kneeling down, you don't see that slight hint of effort.. The body per...

Exactly. The catch is that you'll have believable mouth movements for any given speech, using only the audio data, while preset expressions could be easily blended in (angry, surprised, sarcastic etc etc.)

In Europe, the average guy does not know about Xbox, but the majority is familiar with the Playstation Brand. Xbox is virtually unknown amongst the average mom in Europe.

The noise is most likely from low sampling count per pixel for radiosity. Things like radiosity and area lights - where light rays are normally scattered, require more samples per pixels to simulate the effect. Otherwise, a single sample per pixel would be enough. When these are in effect, the higher the sample, the more stable the result, which eliminates noise.

A few more examples of ray-tracing techniques which requires multiples samples per pixels, which I believe this ...

Making it one time only is a shame. I'd like to see a no-respawn 1000 player match, where you don't get to have a second chance. That would really be intense.

I liked R1, but I didn't buy R2, because in reviews I saw that much had changed. Even the story telling was so much different, and the weapon dial was removed. Those were the KEY SIGNATURE properties of R1. One shouldn't change so much of the game and call it the same name (Resistance). So I lost interest, and I didn't even care about R3 (And Eejlp does a good list of R3 massive changes). They made so many changes each iteration, that it showed they didn't trust their original...

I don't think we'll be talking about exact polygon counts, that the next gen hardware would probably have feasible tesselation capable hardware. As tesselation becomes a standard, the original assets will be designed with tesselation in mind, with lower polygon meshes coupled with displacement. Good times! Currently, the only thing tesselation does is to slow down the gpu for the sake of looking better, as core assets have to have higher than needed polygon counts to account for hardw...
