Waiting for PS4.

It wasn't Cell that held back PS3, it was the RSX. CELL's cycles were used to make up for it (e.g. Vertex skinning on Xbox is usually done straight on Xenos, while for PS3, this had to be done on the Cell to get better performance.)

I hope PS4 has an butt-kicking graphics card where you can throw anything including aiding the cpu for some tasks, not like on Ps3 where it was the other way around. Then it can have whatever CPU they like.

I'd rather have the PS4 use that extra power to render with more complexity at 1080p 60fps, than have a a 4K game with PS3 level details.

PS4 will probably be a hub for playing back 4K content. I'll happily play games at 1080p and 60fps.

Also, if a game looked as good as a 720p movie with ultra-realistic rendering without jaggies, I'll take that too!

I agree 640GB is an odd size and standard size HD's cost less to end-users, however, I know a couple of hard-disk manufacturers who can get you great deals when you order several million hard-disks :) So I don't think the number does bad to the validity, although we can't validate it.

Tessellation for the win!

I'd like to add, when first hardware with tesellation arrived, all tessellation did was to increase visual fidelity on close-ups at the expense of speed, so it just slowed things down as the assets were prepared without tesselation in mind.

However, when all the assets are prepared suitable for tesselation, it will speed things up, like in this demo.. Objects will use MUCH less memory and points, vertex skinning and animation wil...

He says it is a failure for not making multiplayer a paid option. He thinks it is a failure because Wow players pay money for online but COD doesn't. The title is oversimplified.

Wow, I didn't know Wii U only had Wi-Fi! Good luck doing hardcore online gaming with that. Wi-Fi, if you are on a deserted island, may work quite well but once you are in an area of several networks, the latency is VERY unreliable even when you think you are on a clear Wireless channel.

Whatabout a hybrid system?

A small fraction of the harddisk could be ssd to reduce cost but provide performance, and only the active game would use it for streaming frequently used assets, and the SSD portion could be flushed after the game.

However I would like an 8x bluray drive instead of SSD. That'd be pretty good.

I can careless, you can careful. :)

This 4K is just a numbers game, for luring customers. 4K is simply NOT needed one bit for gaming. The only good it would do would be quad-split screen on a 65inch screen.

Would anyone complain if games looked as good as a 1080p movie that was shot at 60fps, I wouldn't.

If I have to choose a path for graphics enhancements, I'd choose better rendering technologies, not a pixel count race, especially anything past 1080p.

He could have developed his own "free to play" MMO with that amount of funding, and even started earning money! So, yes, he is retarded, games are a way of life, but his retarded behaviour cost his family their way of lives.

She needs to do more to convince me.

The problem would be to decide what is vague and general. I think it is quite a significant task to determine that. If done well, software patents could still be fine. But I don't think there's a way to clearly define what is vague and obvious.

Software patents has GOT TO go. Contrary to popular belief, they do not foster innovation, at least in Software, IMHO

Move, which I bought, is a failure. Its lack of analogue stick and not having two controllers as standard are things Sony *should* regret, like PSP missing the second analogue.

Am I the only one who sees a lego screen shot instead of the review?

I didn't know Close Quarters also had Lego class

Consoles shouldn't be upgradeable. END OF STORY. I don't think we even need a discussion for it.

I can find a good user server or a dice server every now and then, if I do, I immediately favourite it. However, they seriously need to display the ticket percentage setting in the server browser. Some have this in their server name but it's not enough. I hate 1500 ticket metro conquest servers. And because of this, quick match is useless. I should be able to filter servers with more than 200% ticket setting, for example.

@mcstorm: How do you think an offline mode would be possible for a realtime game video feed cloud service? If the cloud service is about feeding game video feed, an offline mode would not be possible, unless the end-user has enough hardware to actually run the game on their end. Than, feeding the game video through the internet is entirely pointless.

If cloud is used to feed the game data, that will be a whole different story.

No, I haven't heard the NVidia deal indeed.

I do not understand the disagreers tho, I was referring to the article as Shanks hoped it was Gaikai because of the DF verdict.
