kojima is a loose canon...i doubt any major company will sign him on given his track record of 1) draining development reserves, 2) taking 7 years to make one game, and 3) undermining his bosses by acting like a narcissistic 7 year old by secretly plastering his name throughout Konami's product.

Actually, it's well known that Microsoft don't want to rely on other servers. One, they don't feel other people's server are up to snuff. Two, they want absolute control over servers their game is on. This is in regards to policy, performance, direction, and security.
Of course, this would require that cross platform play would have to be hosted by them, but I truly doubt they want to flip the bill to make other (or Sony) platforms money.
