"For this reason I am glad HG tried, and everybody should be. It would be tragic if the backlash caused the industry to become even more risk adverse."
great thinking. hello games' MO should be emulated by every developer out there...even the bold face public lies about the product. this forward thinking will pave the way for great things to come!!!
Your sense of entitlement is blinding. Bethesda is under ZERO OBLIGATION to give out free advanced copies of games to many of these parasites reviewers. Lol, need i remind you about the youtuber that SPEED RAN THRU 'THE ORDER' AND LEAKED THE ENTIRE GAME 1 WEEK BEFORE RELEASE? The game may have been shorter than usual, but considering the money, time, blood, sweat and tears the development team put into the game, they didn't deserve to get their game hosed like that.
...
haha, "bethesda's new review policy is ethically OK" even though i don't get a free copy to play and skew my review to get website hits so i can feed my pompous desire to become youtube sensation.
ethics is somehow pulled into their desire for free advanced copies of games (that many of them break NDAs for website clicks). bethesda's games sell no matter what. their following is that big. the reason they stop these advanced copies is from jackasses ...
why do you "feel bad for murray?" you think he cares as he sits on his multi-million dollar pile of cash? you sounded like you had a good head on your shoulders by being able to see the hype bs, but then you go and feel bad for some dude who got rich off lying to the gaming community. while you are at it, perhaps you can shed some tears for bernie madoff too.
i'd like to know what country it is that you live in that people appear to be held at gunpoint to sign an employment contract...because, yeah, that is terrible.
"worked like slaves"? so, you're telling me hennig's plight is on the same level as 19th century colored folk getting beaten and whipped on the plantations? dude, shut your mouth...your idiocy is to the point that it's offensive when making such a comparison.
@deafdani
lol, they had to do that because they promised the WORLD to gamers and expected to sell a crapton of games at $60, YET ONLY EMPLOYING A BAREBONES STAFF.
you know why that is? so the money earned would be split to as few people as possible and thus making murray and his band of liars filthy rich. they hyped their game as triple A quality in the amount of stuff they were offering. the truth is, they may have worked hard, but the conscious decision ...
delaying to add Pro support for a game with this graphical style is not worth the effort. team ICO games have a look that heavily relies on mist and blur to create a "dreamlike" visual flair. going Pro won't do much for the presentation. hell, the move from PS3 to PS4 wasn't really that dramatic in terms of visuals. Ueda kept the same style in terms of graphics. that being said, i doubt it has anything to do with the Pro.
i do believe, however, it has...
you're actually defending no man's lie's worth as entertainment because of the perceived "length" of the game? lol, hate break it to you, but no man's lie is not even in the same league with the quality and caliber of the last guardian.
no man's sky is a cheaply made indie title using smoke and mirrors to disguise a procedural generated sandbox as a game. when the head developer has to go on news outlets and lie about the core mechanics of th...
there would be no "delays" if publishers did not set release dates. if they give exact dates, then hammer the developers to get their sh!t done. developers, don't make promises or claims you can't back up.
a game can suck...i don't care. i just don't buy it. if a game is broken where it crashes frequently or has game halting bugs, then that crap needs to be automatically available for a refund. game sux and i buy it? that's on me. game i...
what does his illness have to do with fulfilling contractual obligations? these are business matters...it should remain professional for both sides.
haha, you can fat shame me all you want. i get the last laugh as you are all paying for my "medical disease." I LOVE AMERICA'S increasing liberal slant <3 <3
website link is getting a google malware warning. beware.
their objective will likely place the psvr as the holiday "must have" item. sony would be crazy to place the neo up for sale at the same time and steal the psvr hype, resources, marketing, and focus. it would be p*ss poor planning to introduce the neo for sale this year.
neo is likely going to be expensive and will be targeted at folks that either LOVE GAMING ABOVE ALL ELSE or for those with money to burn. putting up 2 products up for sale at the $400-500 mark ...
wow, 10 years to see something on the shelf that converts photon (energy) into a simulated physical object (phantom matter)???
sure thing, zorkaz.
well, if you're going to rationalize that by saying HG only had a 15 member team, then why the hell did they charge the same price as a developer that actually put in $60/game worth of resources and development costs into their game?
inzo, your wine analogy is sorely lacking. if it indeed was wine, then you may have a point. however, in this scenario, the company that sold the bottle saying it was a 1964 cabernet, actually sold you a bottle of horse p*ss (or a 2005 pinot noir). even if you drank half that bottle, you are still entitled to a refund.
i don't know if you like horse p*ss, or if you honestly couldn't tell it wasn't a 64 cabernet before guzzling half the bottle. therefore, i ...
they lied and misled people to ride the hype train and get the huge, all important first day-$60 sales. initially, they broke the important seller/buyer trust of honest business dealings.
i'm as pro business as it gets, but this is not something i would side with HG and sean murray on. crap like this hurts the integrity of honest businesses and companies.
what do you honestly think sean murray learned here?
it was an indie title with a development staff of 11, or so, people. development cost is undoubtedly sub 4-5million dollars. even with all the purported refunds, HG probably made 25-40 million from the physical game sales that generally can't be refunded after the game is unsealed.
what he learned is: lying to the public = multi million dollar beach front mansion in hawaii.
lmao, who else should be held accountable? you suggesting the President and Owner of hello games shouldn't be responsible for the ONE PROJECT HE WAS DIRECTLY OVERSEEING?
"got led down a path?" people need to be responsible for their actions.
jesus christ...the stupidity of people these days.
