Actually, I think that the Wii has proven that the magic number has seen a little bit of inflation... it's gone from $199 to $249. The 360's arcade sku may see that price this year, but I don't think anyone really wants that one. I think 2009 will be the year that the hardcore systems (PS3 & 360) see more sales explosion and prices below $300.
Wow,that was my first time watching it to the end... the co-op and boss battle were awesome. I might buy a new laptop to run this and The Witcher maxed out.
Honestly, the game looks cool but I'm not as caught up in the hype as others seem to be. It looks fun... but it also looks like it's going to get repetitive pretty quickly. I didn't even know it got delayed! Infamous is the one that I'm really looking forward to.
Yea, I was interested in SOCOM but never really a huge fan... this was the first trailer that has me really looking forward to it. Looked pretty sweet.
They did a GREAT job improving the lighting... I think that has a big effect on the overall visuals. The rest pretty much looks the same.
It does look better. No doubt about that. However, it doesn't look console king better imo. I'm looking forward to the game as much as the next Gears fan... but is it just me, or does it look like the updates just bring it closer to Uncharted???! Either way, that would make it a great looking game... but I guess I was expecting more from all that Unreal Engine 3.5 talk.
There is no doubt that this puts some pressure on Sony. I have no doubt that they intended to cut the price of the PS3 in the holiday... the question now is whether or not they react and cut it sooner. If Microsoft is willing to cut theirs in July, Sony may need to wait until August to see if the 360's price cut is enough to boost sales long term.
Of course it will have at least a short term effect... but general interest in the 360 seems to be dying down, and a price cut may no...

The drop in MGS4 sales is not surprising. The game is selling at the same rate as past games in the series. The sharp decline in PS3 sales IS surprising though.
The PS3 is not dead in Japan though... that would be the 360. The PS3 will continue on just as the PSP did (which is now the top selling system in that country). Naw, I like Sucker Punch's vision for the main character better. Having him in a cape & spandex would have made it more cheesy. He's set in a real world city... he's supposed to be like the ppl around him.

LOL, the 360 is not currently doing ANYTHING to hold the PS3 back in the Japanese market! The PS3 has sold about 4-5x as many consoles in Japan and the 360 had a year head start there too! No, when it comes to Japan the 360 is hopelessly lost.

Some parts of both looked better... I didn't like the yellow/green tint to the CGI, especially the skies. BUT the graveyard scene did look better in the CGI... the final build pretty much looked better in all the other scenes in my opinion though. The smoke effects & textures looked better in the final build.
I think it's dumber for Microsoft to cut the price without any major games to correspond with the price drop. It will get a boost for 2-3 weeks and then fade right back to normal. Sony would be smarter to drop their price a week or two before the release of Little Big Planet or SOCOM. At least if Sony dropped theirs now, MGS4 is still fairly new. But MS's move seems a little more desperate.
