No one is trying to spin the Sony sales... the 360 stomped it in Sept, no doubt about it. But a lot of ppl thought the PS3 sales were going to drop in Sept, and they did not... they were actually a little bit higher.
The 360 sales does make up for all the months they were behind in the U.S. though... so they stole the momentum back from Sony. Sometimes price cuts only boost sales for a month or two... but I expect this one to ride clear through the holiday.
Yea, from the reviews I've been seeing... I think LBP is almost a sure pick for GOTY. Unless Fallout 3, Resistance 2, Fable 2, or Gears 2 just really comes along to blow reviewer's minds, I can't see anything outshining LBP this year... and of those, I can't really see any game but Fallout 3 come close to touching it.
Actually, Rockstar has offices in EU, but their main headquarters is in the U.S. And most AAA titles for this gen have actually come out of the U.S. anyway.
I don't know... I think if Sony continues to really push LBP with little adverts like these over there, the Japanese audience could really fall in love with this game. It is the type of cutesy image they love over there. And if word of mouth spreads about just how deep the game is, they'll love it.
I think we may actually start to see the 360 catch up with, or outsell the Wii. The PS3 is my favorite system... but for $200, anyone would argue the 360 is a pretty good bargain... even if you do only get the stripped down minimum with that sku.
I don't think MGS4 has sold a million in Japan yet (may be close though)... WKS will sell well regardless, but I'm thinking more 400k-600k. I have no idea what LBP has a chance of selling but I hope it does well.
If the PS3 were priced more mainstream, there is no doubt that LBP would be enough to outsell any of the competition in any region this holiday. Unfortunately, Sony is still asking a pretty penny for their system so it'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out. Eit...
Yea, even though it was a pretty short clip... that was a great commercial for that demographic. In fact, the same basic commercial (set in different communities) would be great in ANY demographic. It's cute and shows off the instant appeal of Sackboy!
I'll be interested to see how the game does over there.
I doubt that his numbers are right.... BUT if the 360 managed to outsell the PS3 by approx 100k, then that basically reverses all the months the PS3 outsold the 360! And of course it gives MS the momentum they needed going into the holiday. The PS3 is my favorite console, but they really have an uphill battle now in terms of market share. I think they're likely to drop the price around KZ2 or GOWIII release... it'll be interesting to see what happens.
Actually, from all that I've heard, Fallout 3 clearly sounds like the better game. I'll probably pass on Fable 2 until Jan or Feb next year... Fallout 3 already pre-ordered :-)
FFXIII Versus could end up on the 360, right now it's only being developed on the PS3. FFXIII will likely be a timed exclusive on the PS3 for that matter as it hasn't began development on the 360 yet.
As for Star Ocean. The lead programmer alluded to the fact that it may end up on the PS3 as well when it was announced for the 360... he said it was still being discussed, not that it was a 360 exclusive. Obviously discussions are now over and it's coming to the PS3 as well... likel...
This game has always only been a timed exclusive.

Actually the game looks pretty gorgeous graphically.... the gameplay looks off though. Not far off from Oblivion (rpg) standards... but the problem with a 3rd person rpg is that the action will be compared with other action titles... this was the same disappointment I found in Mass Effect's combat... Doesn't seem fluid enough. And the hit collision in this title is pretty awful in its current state.
That was really good actually! That's almost exactly how the first level of Mario was! They did the layout very well.
I would be excited if it weren't for the developer... I really hope the game is at least in the 8 range... if so, the graphics are gorgeous & I'll definitely buy it!
DLC is cool sometimes... but who the hell cares about exclusive DLC in a tomb raider game?!!! The series hasn't been worth much in the last decade!!!

All of that is cool, but the only news that really impresses me about that is 100+ hours. While the extra features are cool, the two main things I care about as an rpg gamer are combat & story.... and at last TGS the combat was reported to be pretty spotty.
WKS is my most anticipated rpg at this point (I like the concept even more than FF), so I really hope that they ironed out all the kinks. It does seem like it would be difficult to make combat available b/w giant charac...
I do believe that R2 will be FPS of the year.... the only other game to come close is possibly Far Cry 2, but I'm not really that excited for FC2.
For overall GOTY, I think GTAIV, Fallout 3, MGS4, & LBP are really the only games in the running!
As for Killzone 2, I really don't think it's going to dissapoint. From what I've seen, I doubt it scores lower than 8's from any of the major gaming sites. The online multiplayer IS actually pretty innovative... Not in a...
The only problem with that is that there still are NOT any HD torrents or movie streams available which match the quality of Blu Ray ;-)... and that is not fanboy speak, it is fact... do a little research if you don't believe me.
Then there's also the issue of not actually owning a copy or having access to all of the extras that come with the disc. I'd be an unhappy camper if I could not have the retail version of Dark Knight or Iron Man in hi def!!!
That shouldn't be the reason... a mod'd box usually just means you can play pirated games... I've never seen it effect the quality of the game. But that's kind of ridiculous actually... that CAN'T be what the retail game will be like. If so, InstaFail online... At the very least, hopefully the glitchiness isn't as common as these vids make them appear!
