I'd imagine the lower quality shadows and LOD on PS5 are just a settings issue by the developers. We've seen it the other way round on Dirt 5 where it's worse on Xbox. Probably just side effect of developing for so many consoles.

Funnily enough, those lower settings might be why PS5 has a resolution advantage in this game.

The mechanics and graphcis are very solid. There's just no 'real' quests and all 'loot' is just cosmetics. Would have loved this if it were a more traditional RPG/MMO style game.

I wanted to like this game, but as a predominantly solo player of video games, there's just nothing to do in Sea of Thieves.

Oh a cave! Empty.

Ohhhhhh, an island! Empty.

Loot??? Nope.

Fetch quests for currency was all i could find.

Can understand how this could be fun for some people who like to play in groups, but I got bored very quickly.

Cool Todd, time to move on from the Creation Engine then.

I don't think you would have seen all those amazing exclusives over the years without them being exclusive. Those games are generally built to take advantage of the hardware by having a deep knowledge of it and that's why they often end up such great games.

GAMES is what matters. I have both consoles. Barely touched the Series X, but played the PS5 hours per day as I get through Spider-Man, Demon's Souls, Sackboy and Astro. I have no interest in playing last gen first party games on xbox. They needed a couple good first party launch games.

I wasn't actually going to get a Series X, instead I was going to get a 3080 PC, but then I decided on an LG CX, so a Series X on the All Access deal worked better for me as far as ...

I still play the game. The general play is decent, although they need more and better content updates.

The biggest issue for me is this does not feel like it is made by a supposed AAA developer. This 'creation engine' of theirs needs to go. Yeah they update it and tack new features on, but you can still feel the skeleton of Morrowind in these Fallout and Elder Scrolls games. It's not good enough. It's time to move forward with a new, modern engine.

Surely they understand there isn't anywhere near as wide appeal for very Japanese style games compare to Western ones yeah?

Personally I disagree. I played a few hours and found it quite boring and uninspired. I'm really hoping Insomniac don't waste their time with this IP on PlayStation.

This is my experience too. I bought a PS5 at launch and got the Series X on all access because it was cheaper than getting a gaming PC and it meant I could put the rest of my money towards an LG CX (which i'm loving). I love gaming and really have my fingers crossed Xbox will deliver some games i actually care about this generation (The Xbox One generation was incredibly disappointing for me).

I've played my PS5 for hours each day. The controller is fantastic. The U...

The fact that you can unload a clip into a sniper at close range and be quick scoped while doing it shows snipers DO NOT need a buff.

Yeah i could see a tiny bit more smoothness on Ori on the 120fps mode, but nothing like the jump from 30 to 60fps. Must just be my eyes aren't sensitive to high frame rates. On my 4K tv i pick the 6k/60fps option. I can notice the resolution sharpness much more than the frame rate.

Ori it is in the visual settings. You choose between 6k downscaled at 60fps or 4k 120fps.

An easy mode that only lets those people play with other easy mode people would take nothing away from the hardcores who want to play it as intended. If trophies are disabled and someone playing on easy mode doesn't affect the world the 'normal' players are in (such as world tendency etc), i don't see any good argument against it.

I've tried Ori and MCC now on my LG CX. I've even gone into the hidden diagnostics screen of the TV to confirm i'm running at 120hz.

I basically cannot tell the difference between 60fps and 120fps.

Yep, agree with all your points. I have an LG CX and even with tru motion on, Demon's Souls doesn't feel right at 30fps. I'm going to have a play with the blur settings in that game, maybe it is set too low or something.

My eyes must be sensitive in different ways to frame rates and motion effects.

Spider-Man/Miles Morales on the 30fps fidelity mode looks/feels very smooth for 30fps, so much so that I very happily play on the 30fps mode. Demon's Souls on the other hand feels really janky and unsmooth on the 30fps fidelity mode to me, but the Digital Foundry review says the frame pacing is rock solid.

Is it motion blur? Or something else? I can't understand why the...

This coming from the guy that said they didn't need a killer launch game because demand for consoles exceeded supply. Gee, thanks Phil, i'm so happy I didn't get a cool launch exclusive to play on my Series X, how exciting. I've been playing more Fallout 76 on my PS4 Pro than I have been playing my Series X in the last two days. Today i pick up my PS5 with Demon's Souls and Spiderman, which i'm actually excited for.

Xbox will have great games over th...
