"I've never heard of any product before in history that had a 1/3rd failure rate and was allowed to continue selling to unaware people."
You are correct. These types of problems ALWAYS lead to class actions. The only reason that MS was so quick to extend the warranty 3 years at a estimated cost of between $1 and 3 billion (depending on the report you read), is to avoid a major class action. This solution was probably arrived at through a two-fold analysis by the MS...
Ummm... how about God of War 3??? I don't know, but I would think that God of War would get a gamer more excited than High School Musical.... or maybe it's just me!
Did that article say that the Xbox beat PS2 sales b/c of Halo 2??? WTF is wrong with some of these websites... All you need to have as sensationalist title and get hits.... I guess research (or just common sense) don't matter much nowadays.

Needs to concentrate on their core audience and on its competition with Sony instead of trying to "take on" Nintendo at this point. To fight a two-front war at is completely ludicrous for them considering that they are either losing to Sony (globally) or simply losing ground to Sony (in the U.S.). IMO they have no shot of getting the Wii crowd b/c Nintendo has tapped into something that I don't think MS (or Sony for that matter) really understand. Plus, the Wii may be selling a l...
First of all, the title is completely misleading. It is not about the "popularity" of either system... it is comparing the specs and technology... of course the PS3 is a more advanced system, but that has nothing to do with the popularity contest, which (unfortunately) the Wii is winning.
That some of the classic rock bands don't see the benefits of these games. Rock Band and Guitar Hero introduce music to a younger generation that was never exposed to this great classic rock music. It's like the Beatles not understanding the new digital music industry being the future. Same attitude that kept ice boxes in homes for years after the refrigerator was invented!
People stop using home exercise equipment, gym memberships and anything else that they believe to be a quick route to heath.. Put the WiiFit in the storage closet next to the ThighMaster, the Soloflex, the AbMaster and the George Foreman Grill! :-)
I'm not having any problems with my update.... collecting the trophies on SSHD.... I wonder how many people were affected.
The metacritic score is 61 and the user score is 6.3.... i think that we can pretty much consider this to be a huge disappointment when it was so highly anticipated and the scores from both critics and users are so low.
It made no sense until I read the article...All it says is that you need to download 2.40 and then the SSHD patch and it will work fine...
"SCEE just told us that the Super Stardust HD Team Expansion is still available for download from its servers, but you won’t be able to access any Trophy functionality unless you’ve already installed Firmware 2.40."
“SuperStardust HD and the Expansion Pack are still on the store and available for download,” a rep tol...
"Universal PS3 trophey system thrown into doubt"??
Give me a f'ing break... Sony never said that all existing titles would support trophies. What they said was that developers wouldn not be forced to make existing titles support trophies. However, in the future, all new titles will have to support trophies. 2.40 isn't out 2 days and already the FUD is beginning...

Once this Trophy thing gets going, I'm done with Achievements.
With one morning meeting, Sony has made me ready to buy every cross-platform title on the PlayStation 3 instead of its Microsoft-bred competitor. Sure, points are nice, but now I'm Leveling up? You mean to tell me that Sony's turned my gaming into an RPG of its own? You mean that everyone's going to be starting from square one and have an equal chance at being king of Trophies?

The problem isn't even upgrading from DVD to DVD... it's the fact that no manufacturer is going to waste money producing and marketing a machine that plays these things. They came to the party way too late to have any impact, other than to some other scientists... maybe they are just releasing this news to get some press for their company.
Plus, new periperhals and more features in-game. Although, I would think that most features could probably added via a patch. We'll have to wait and see what Harmonix has in store for the game. Probably at E3.
And at least Harmonix is not milking people like Activision. I mean, it seems like GH has a new game and bundle every 3 or 4 months!
So why release first on Xbox 360? "Microsoft has been a great partner throughout the launch of Rock Band in the last year and their continued support is instrumental in supporting the more advanced features and cross title compatibility we will have in Rock Band 2,"
The answer is: MONEY! But, as with GTA4, I think that MS is again wasting its money... How many people are going to spend $170 AGAIN on a bundle. And, anyone that already has the game from last year can...
Here's your requested source:
"The financial year ended on March 2008 and the 9.2 million units sold represents a 5.6 million unit increase over the previous financial year total. Sony also stresses that these numbers it is providing are actual consoles sold to consumers, not the number shipped to retail outlets. "

There are typos and grammatical errors (e.g., "PlayStatio Edge"). So, unless some guy re-typed the whole thing (which doesn't seem likely because they have kept in the TM and registered trademark symbols in it), then it is probably fake.... Not to mention the fact that Edge is a recently released developer's tool kit.... but, it is a good idea! I hope that the 4.0 has this stuff!
"Firmware 2.40 even caused a number of PS3s to cease working, yet the platform holder seemingly came out of the situation fairly unscathed."
The real question should be: How about the fact that in spite of a third or more of Xbox 360s experience RROD, MS has somehow managed to come out practically unscathed?
The number of PS3 firmware problems is, by all reports, isolated to very few systems. Sony actually took the firmware update offline at the first ...
