B/c G4 is not on metacritic (they used to be but were removed)... instead, we will need to rely upon the "elite" gaming sites such as Telegraph and Kikizo! /s
When is LOT going to be doing their FFXIII comparison?? /s
in preparation for the PSP2?
I absolutely agree that the game was changed to accommodate the 360. They had to figure out a way to make it more palatable if it was going to be on multiple disks... Think about it logically -- the game is LINEAR until the final 3rd of the game (from what I've read b/c obviously I haven't played it yet). It is only toward the last part of the game that it becomes a more open world experience. Also, you can't go back to places you already visited earlier in the game... Digital Foundry alre...
And the PS3 has been sold out on Amazon for at least a month... it is unfortunate that NPD does not include Amazon sales (which are WAY easier to track than retail store sales!)... I wonder how much different the NPD monthly numbers would be if they did so!
I can't wait to see how the media completely ignores the quality difference between the PS3 and 360 -- They NEVER ignore it when there is a substandard PS3 port (Bayonetta anyone?)... and you know that Lens of Truth will somehow fail to do a comparison of FFXIII.
The problem with "gaming journalism" is that they create nonsense out of the ether... they "review" games a year before release, compare games that shouldn't be compared (different genres, different generations, etc.), they purposely create flamebait headlines to garner hits on their mediocre websites, they downplay AAA titles and build up lesser ones, they kiss the butts of the major players (Activision, EA, etc.) and they simply don't practice anything close to journalis...
since sales have been falling since FFX:
FFX: 6.6 million
FFXII: 5.2 million
FFX-2: 3 million
Dirge of Cerberus: FF VII: 1.2 million
Based upon the history of sales since FFX in 2001, I wouldn't brag that "it will sell as well as it's predecessors."
This is one genre that simply does not translate well to the consoles... I tried Civilization Revolution, but it just wasn't the same.
may be correct IF you use Roger Ebert's definition of great films... HOWEVER, that is based purely upon Ebert's narrow vision... Ebert is (to many) a very good movie critic, but it is obvious when he made that statement that he is from a different generation and simply does not understand video games... He also an elitist, as are many movie critics (critics in general, actually -- whether they are food, movie, travel or game critics) who believes that his understanding of what makes a film gr...
Some of the dialogue (both between characters and in the characters' thoughts) was a little stilted and corny at times and the story had some plot holes depending on how you played through... but, the first time through the game (NO SPOILERS), I was shocked at the ending and just sat there with my jaw open for a few minutes because I couldn't believe what I was seeing on my screen... It made me immediately want to pick up the controller and see the other ways the story could go...
I'm gonna be SO broke this year!! (But VERY happy!)...
One bone of contention... Has it been CONFIRMED that FFXIV will have a monthly fee on the PS3? I didn't think that any monthly fees have been announced... maybe for the PC version, but not the PS3 one.
Kevin Butler: VP, PS3 Softball Team... LOL
"Well played, Mauer." LMAO
From now until March 21st, purchasing a new Sony PSP Go will come with one of two free games: Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines or LittleBigPlanet. Joystiq discovered that the free title requires registration of a free PlayStation Network account and the choice of which game a buyer gets is then determined by their age as entered when creating that new account.
I guess modern journalism is all about taking one article that was original and a million websites just copying it over and over again. How many different permutations are we going to see on the Fast Company interview of Jack Tretton... Jeez!
The internet always blows this stuff out of proportion and makes it seem like it is happening to everyone...
I'm not really technical when it comes to the whole hacking and homebrew thing, but if you have Linux on your PS3, it is partitioned away from the regular PS3 operating system. So, from a logic standpoint, how would Linux affect the regular PS3 operating system? It seems like it wouldn't which would make this rumor nothing more than that.... If anyone knows or can answer this question, that would be great!
P.S. I have never used Linux, but the people I know who do only use it ...
This article is lame... Missing in action:
GT5
Last Guardian
Motion Controller games
3D games
"Ultimately, no matter what you're playing it on and we would discourage anyone from deciding not to buy it if they're already planning to. However, if you have a choice, the PS3 version has the edge."
It sounds like they tempered their comments a bit by saying "slightly worse" because reading between the lines, this statement seems to indicate that there is a huge difference between the 2 versions and they can't come out and say it explicitly.

I don't always agree with the guy and he is a little weird... but, he always speaks from the heart and gives REASONS why he believes one way or another. He was not kind to the PS3 and was critical of Sony for the first few years of this gen, but now that the games have come, you can see the utter excitement in his face and hear it in his voice. His soapbox discussions on UC2 and GOW3 have been amazing and better than many "full" reviews b/c he describes WHY he believes that these g...
