Predicting trends in business is like being a weatherman. There are so many factors to consider and it is like throwing spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks. I, for one, like manuals. I don't always read them in depth, but I always leaf through them when I first get a game. It is part of the "experience" of opening a new game. Plus, it is nice to have the control schemes laid out on paper so that on more complicated games I don't have pause and open up a menu if I can't figure something out.

A few PS3s have problems from the FW update and it is somehow an epidemic? I have a 60 GB launch model...NO PROBLEMS with the update... NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH ANY UPDATE.... There will always be isolated issues with any sort of firmware or software update, be it the PS3, Xbox, PC or other piece of consumer electronics.... Hell, I had my Sirius radio get f'ed up after an update...

At least down here in Florida. I was out at 3 pm on launch day at the Apple Store in Boca Raton (an EXTREMELY upscale, wealthy city just north of Ft. Lauderdale) and they had tons of iPads for sale... People were looking, but not too many were buying. My buddy in Miami said the same... Plenty available on Saturday and Sunday.
Sony has stated that you DO NOT have to download the new firmware. The consequence is that if you don't, then you can't log into PSN... Well, if these PS3s are being used as a "supercomputer", they wouldn't be playing games on them, so it doesn't matter if they can log into the PSN... So, how exactly is the firmware change hurting these supercomputers? They are not!

I'm sure that Alan Wake will be a great game... Remedy is a fantastic developer... But, what bothers me is the lack of any sense of humbleness by companies that do exclusive Xbox games... You never heard any such comments coming from Naughty Dog about UC2 or Santa Monica about GOW3... they are HUMBLE... the same can't be said about most 360 developers... They do lots of chest beating.
Half of the "articles" on N4G (NEWS for gamers) are just banal filler... this is a perfect example... a Flame inducing headline and absolutely NO substance... So, they give a premise: Is UC2 the Best Game Ever?... Then they give no opinion, no supporting argument and no conclusion... NOTHING! It simply says, "What do you think?"
